    Totally agree on your view that RUclipsrs have done more for marketing the Giulia than Alfa Romeo USA marketing. I decided to trade my Giulia for the QV based on content in Phil's Auto Fanatic channel and Kevin Deal's review on his QV on his Upscale Audio channel. Hearing first hand about their experiences gave me the confidence to go with the QV.

      @@club.alfagt You can practice replacing the serpentine belt in my QV. You need to pump out the A/C, drain coolant from intercoolers, drain coolant from cooling system, remove a lot of parts to access belt, and reverse procedure - charge A/C, add coolant and bleed system. It’s a lot of hours and it’s a $3,500 job in the SF Bay Area. I wonder if this can be done with a lot of patience by a non-professional mechanic. One of my brothers has equipment for A/C work and probably do this part of the work.
      Can you visit Milan in first week of October? A friend and I will be there and will visit the Alfa Museum. Would be great to meet up. The cars are beautifully displayed.

    You are absolutely correct. Alfa did a poor job promoting its cars. As an example, Watkins Glen held it annual historic car event featuring Alfa Romeo. Hundreds of Alfa owners and enthusiasts showed up, but there was no official representation from the company. Alfa clubs from all over attended, but no one from Alfa Romeo! That would never be the case at a Porsche event. Porsche is always selling, promoting its cars.

    Being a Stelvio owner, every time I see a video titled like this I get defensive. But all your points were spot on. One fact about the Alfas in the U.S. that corporate doesn't advertise is how safe these vehicles are. Only the 2017 Giulia was crash tested in the U.S. and was given an IIHS Top Pick, and I see everyday stories of drivers how their Stelvios or Giulias were involved in horrendous accidents and they walked away with minor injuries. There was none in Brisbane for a period of time even after the new Giulia cars were launched. There is one here now and another about 90 minutes away. Power is slacking, it should’ve came at 350hp. It would’ve been a good second option. QV should’ve came at 600hp. The best thing they could’ve done was add a ZF transmission.

    I own a sprint (Base Mode) Totally agree with everything you've said. I'm actually making the same decisions as you mod wise as well gradually and just wished they had made them from factory. Getting a new exghasut fitted before the Squadra and adding the Euro Pedal etc. That being said I would actually go a step further and say the Guilia is the best sport sedan ever made. I just don't see anything surpasing it anytime time soon and it will defiinetly become a future classic. I drive mine, probably the same as you, every day just for the sake of driving it. Awesome points man! They definitely could have done more for power. The capability of the engine and transmission are there, but it was never capitalized on by Alfa with model year refreshes. Also as far as the dealership network goes, I really wish they could use the Stellantis umbrella, and allow us to at least get qualified service through Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge/RAM dealerships. I mean Jeep did use the SAME 4cyl turbo engine from the Giulia in the newer Wranglers. And yo the new production quality??? Freaking great!

The service area has a stand-alone Alfa waiting room and an Alfa "expert" who apparently only does Alfa work. I've been there a couple times and have been pleased so far.

    • @alfisti93
      @alfisti93 Год назад +2

      The points are spot on!
      Although Alfa Romeo had to tinker on their 4-cyl. GME (and JTD) engines, so they indeed differ mechanically from their equivalent FIAT/JEEP siblings - even though they are from the same engine family, developed at the same time and built on the same production line in Termoli (and Pratola Serra respectively).
      For instance the 2.0 petrol in the Giulia has a MultiAir head, while the 2.0 "Hurricane" for JEEPs utilise a classic 16V DOHC layout.
      FCA did this mainly for "prestige" and distinguishing the brands. Alfa got bespoke engines, for a business that sells way less than 100k cars combined annually. It may look nice on paper - for those few who know - but in reality it weakens Alfa economically by being less compatible with their in-house stablemates, increasing overall cost (R&D, production, aftersales) without real benefit.

    He's wrong. Alfa don't have the infrastructure to support massive sales either in production, sales/after sales. Their history is questionable re: reliability and so these models may be the start of a new future for them hence the slow burn on this model. Re horse power. It is likely that having the 4 cylinder models with less power allowed them to make the QV. Many manufacturers have to curb emissions on their lower models to allow for the performance models. Alfa is not alone in the weak marketing department. Take a look at Kia Stinger - this and Alfa are my two favourite cars. Don't know if You've ever driven one, but once You do, It's not far behind Alfa in terms of driving experience, but still looks great inside and outside. Abstolutely great car. And it's yet less expensive (you can get 3.3 for the 2.0 giulia price) with full option package. But at the same time, Stinger has such a bad marketing, that this car is rare as Maserati in the streets. I know it's a Kia, but anyone who hasn't driven this car yet, don't know what that means. Anyways, for Kia and Alfa owners it's better - at least You guys own something that it's not every third car in the street, which gives sort of a feeling being unique :D

About the power of the car I also was expecting more as my previous MiTo QV with 1.4 litter engine and just a remap was running with BMW 330 and mercedes C300 and most of the Alfas can run with cars with 100 HP more than them. But I dont know I want the car to run at least as Golf 8R now but probably if it was good as the Golf R I will want it to be better than the RS3 so the power is never enough :) I cant wait to start upgrading mine
