Holy shit! You're right! And not just on the window. It was behind both Warrens. One was cleverly done with heart figure with 'loVe' signed on it and other letters.
What possible explanation can there be for them to randomly have the wooden letters ALAK on their wall? It's not coincidence, it is deliberate that they are placed right under a giant bold V. Go back and watch it again because there is also nothing else the brightly colored letters on the window could be spelling out. When the daughter walks in you can see that the last letter after the second A is a K, so it definitely isn't that you are just seeing part of a word. For the Warrens it may be a coincidence but as far as the movie goes they clearly did it deliberately. I had actually just commented on this before I saw you guys talking about it.
It was definitely a great sequel, but I think they went took too much of an action movie route on this one. The first one was better paced for horror and I hope if they make a 3rd they go back to that route.
The cinematography in this movie was gorgeous. The tracking scene (that they removed a sin for was stellar), the scene with Janet in the chair being interviewed by Ed was gorgeous. One of the best filmed movies in a long long time
5:47 Valek (the demon) enjoys making colorful arts and crafts that spell out his name, and placing them on window sills, and the Warren's don't notice. (and neither did Cinema Sins) *DING*
@@aryankalia4653 Yea, that's not the same thing... nice try, tho! Valek clearly did not make those wooden letters on the bookshelf, he merely rearranged them... @@aryankalia4653 First of all, the Valak in this story is a Demon from hell, out of the Catholic realm of mythos. Demons are fallen Angels. Angels have no gender, nor do demons. They also do not have a preferred pronoun. The fact that Valak wears the habit of a nun is irrelevant to these facts, and is presumptuous of you to assume that because someone or something wears the clothing typically associated with a female they therefore must be a "she". And not to put too fine a point on it, Mr. Joke Killer, qu'est-ce que c'est, but my joke statement (that CinemaSins "missed") was that Valak enjoys making arts and crafts, 'conjuring' a flood of images of Valak checking out with a cart of supplies from a local Craft Store, in full habit and evil grin... and paying with a credit card, Discover, of course. If you're gonna comment on someone else's comment just to cry "WRONG", be sure you understand that comment first, and how it may differ from what you assume. Cheers!
Denise F St. Peter was the first Pope and one of Jesus disciples. Many people think that the upside down cross is the sign of satan but again it's actually St Peter when he was crucified by the Romans they wanted to nail him to a cross but St. Peter didn't want to be crucified like Jesus because he was not the saviour, so the Romans crucified him upside-down.
nate skinner, yeah thankfully he didn't say antichrist. Finally someone points out, after all the Hollywood bullshit of the upside down cross being evil.
I only want to point this out: most of the stuff happening in the Amityville part at the beginning has to do with shit that happened in real life. Like the fact that everyone remained sleeping despite the first couple of gunshot noises is a reference to the fact that the Defeo family members that were murdered were all found face down, with no sign that they had probably even stirred when Defeo fired the first shot. And the little boy wandering around is a reference to when Ed and Lorraine went to the house with other paranormal investigators, one of them snapped a photo, and there was a little boy in there. I only know all this shit because I was obsessed with ghost stories as a kid.
The supposed picture of the little boy there is taken at such an angle and such that it could easily actually be one of their own investigators kneeling down in that doorway behind the bannister and is even wearing the same clothes as said investigator. Considering that picture is one of the only pieces of "evidence" to come out of that house of anything at all and it's suspicious as evidence can get makes it reasonably likely it's a complete fake. I wouldn't say that everything about that is real.
Quandry1 It actually was a picture of Paul Bartz, one of the 'investigators' the Warrens had brought with them. If you locate a good, non-zoomed in picture and look closely, you can see his knees, since he is squatted down.
At 10:30 I wanted to thank you for mentioning it is Saint Peter's cross not the devil's. Saint Peter was crucified upside down and an upside down cross is a sign of humility. This strange idea that is common throughout horror that an upside down cross is somehow demonic really does irritate me. Like I get I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill but as a pet peeve I don't get how people have screwed up the imagery so badly over these years. If you wanted something satanic flip a Crucifix. Those are not supposed to be upside down, and the imagery would be correct. And that's why I think it bugs me so much. It is an easy fix, but its just ignored.
madhippy3 It's a subculture thing. Black and death metal bands started using random symbols and presenting it as "satanist" simply because those "looked cool". That's why everyone gets confused.
madhippy3 I'm not 100% sure, but I heard that the cross means Jesus ascended into Heaven, and an upside down cross means Jesus *didn't* ascend to Heaven, so if you look at it that way it is blasphemy and its used in horror movies to show the demons are spiting God.
Janet Kazarowski yeah but a long time ago the cross meant you believed Jesus deserved it instead of standing in support of Jesus. this was something we learned in my speech class about symbols throughout time
Well the upside down cross started being used by Satanic groups as a way of mocking christian groups. Because the upside down cross was a symbol of humility and unworthiness in comparison to Jesus, which especially in Europe BlackMetal bands, be they satanic or pagan, were/are combating christian influence. So it was used as kinda like a "fuck you, You arent comparable to Jesus"
7.51 if you watch the original footage from the 70’s, the movie is reasonably accurate. A lot of people were still skeptical and lots of investigation took place to see if it was a fraud or not. Also, they were so plagued with activity that it eventually became normal for them, the original 70’s interview its completely the same, the sister was not fazed at all when Bill started to speak through Janet. The only difference is that Ed and Lorraine never came to live with the family, they had little to do with the story, it’s artistic license they’re even there.
Is it bollocks accurate for a start where the fuck is Janet Hodgeson, you know who the activity was based around? ruclips.net/video/Pvraq3KfP6w/видео.html that's a far more accurate representation, this is the biggest bag of shite I have ever watched!
Literally gave this one a total of 20mins and that was enough for me, just the biggest expression of what the flying fuck on my face, then stopped watching it lol, Ok I take that thing back about Janet not being in it, but meh this is the biggest load of crap I've watched and is it bollocks anything like the footage, never heard such crap the warrens had fuck all to do with this, just money grabbing pricks as far as I am concerned.
15:14 Loraine: You told me your name. Demon: Hugh Mungus Loraine: Hugh Mungus what? Demon: Hugh Mungus Loraine: This person just sexually harassed me! Demon: no i did not
Lorraine: You told me your name. Demon: Biggus Dickus. Lorraine: [snicker] Demon: What's so funny about my name? Lorraine: [more snickering] Demon: I have a wife, you know...
Peter Quill When I saw it in theaters I noticed the name in the kitchen but not in the other parts of the house. I saw a tumblr post that has screenshots of all the instances where the name is in the house and I think it's like five or six.
9:29 The demon seemingly took awhile to start haunting them because it didn’t arrive until the ouija board was used. Valak was quiet in order for the girls to not say goodbye, then made an appearance after the girls had forgotten the board. Once Peggy ripped it apart there wasn’t anything they could do
In these conjuring stories demons are attracted to negative energy, and janet asked the spirit if their dad was gonna come back. This attracted Valak to the negative energy inside Janet and then it started haunting them
At 5:44 you also see valak written on the wall in letters, if you combine the red v from love and alak. It’s also spelled behind Ed’s back. In the scene before Lorraine is having a vision you can see their daughter making bracelets with the name valak. Thought it was a pretty cool Easter egg.
The most annoying part of this movie was how Ed and Lorraine still considered it was fake AFTER ALL THE FUCKING SHIT they saw in the case already. I mean, jesus. There's a difference between keeping an open mind and just plain stupidity.
What's even more fucking annoying is that Ed and Lorraine nutjobs Warren had fuck all to do with this case in real life. They spent 1 DAY with the family. Maurice Grosse was the lead investigator. Fuck all to do with those idiotic yanks.
The reason why Crooked Man isn't deterred by the crosses upstairs is because those are more for decoration. The difference between them and Ed's cross is that Ed's cross was probably blessed.
Ocrilat no this is more related to a real life application of faith. Kinda why these movies are a little dumb sometimes because they make it seem like objects (crosses , holy water) have some kind of magical power or something. But if you are going by Christian faith beliefs (which these movies are somewhat based in) then you should know that no object in this world has any power against demons. The way to actually defeat them is simply having faith in Jesus Christ.
@@kriskater I think a 'sin' is warranted since that wasn't mentioned or explained in the film's universe. That 'a cross has no power if there is no faith' is a new, movie explanation with no basis in reality, church teachings or even older movies. You're quoting the original 'Fright Night', not real Christianity.
The part with the Nun attacking Lorain while holding her painting made me laugh out loud. It looked like she was running around with one of those "put your head here" photo paintings held up to her face. Also, why did the nun even mess with Ed and Lorain in the first place? They were the only ones who could stop it, and they would never have learned its name if it hadn't shown up in their house, so it pretty much defeated itself there.
For that, you have to watch the Nun. It's a crappy movie, but it does tie itself to the Conjuring universe at the end, and explains clearly why the demon had a grudge towards Ed and Lorraine Warren.
@@pradyumnachakraborty3262 The Nun is pretty entertaining - especially if you compare it to the now released Nun 2 - the tie in from Nun 2 to Lorraine is pretty forced.
That guy they call Holderiano He needed to be there considering that this movie is based on a real-life family, but yeah he could have at least helped out and acted like the man in the family.
Probably because the original haunted family was about the mother, two daughters and two sons so they couldn't really let one of them out if it's based on true stuff.
@@blueismylove3128 I agree. That would've been the best idea. It's just that I imagine them to be as close to reality (even though, you know... ghosts and stuff) and that's why they decided the non-existent child.
I prefer this movie to the first by a long shot, but, I tend to focus more on Lorraine's character development and struggles and how it relates to the haunting in of itself. There are much better personal stakes in this film than the first.

Yumori Zatsuken not so different that one can't understand the other. the joke in the video is when he suggests that it's too foreign to even understand.
totallypreposterous Well, I think on the Everything Wrong With CinemaSins video (made by CinemaSins) they mentioned something about only understanding American English in their videos.
Yumori Zatsuken Ok. But if you view that same part of the video you can tell he was joking about it being too complicated to understand. So whatever you're suggesting about british and american english being too far apart to tell the difference between one another. Um. No.
So there was a 3 episode “documentary” (it was really a tv show) that went through this haunting on Sky one, with the actor who plays Peter Pettigrew being the main ghost hunter. Ed and Lorraine Warren did get sent to go “help” they stayed a day and said that they didn’t think the place was haunted and then they went home. Also the second son you don’t see often is because in real life (or at least in that other tv series) he was at a behavioural school for boys.

Also does anyone notice when the daughter comes and hugs them they have the name of the demon spelled out in the kitchen in the back with sticks. I just now seen that
Throughout most of the scenes in the living room you can see "Valak" in their decorations. I think it very odd a choice for the director, while at the same time it may be an indication of Lorraine's subconscious memory of the demons name leaking through her actions.

The upside down cross has been associated with saint peter ever since he was crucified. The upside down cross was never associated with satanism until black metal bands started using it to be edgy.
That's what you get for promoting abstinence, crucifixion in a more painful way than your savior, and you will be known as the guy who denied Jesus twice and nothing more, because religion.

I never understand why all the demons always give away the only way to get rid of them? The demon told her his name, which is the only way to send him back to hell. Not only is this stupid, WHY THE FUCK would he do that?
I agree, it gets dull and unbelievable quickly once you realise the demon has basically no limits except the ones it apparently feels like making for itself at random times. "lel this is too easy, I guess Ill give them a hint" Also your comment gave me the thought that at least it's understandable why they'd give their demons DIFFERENT powers than Jesus. "Yes hello I am Monstrous Savage Von Evilton and I have come here looking for a house to haunt" "Very good sir. What is your power-level?" "Decent, nothing over-the-top. I specialize in mysteriousness so I'll be hard to predict, but with a limited enough skill-set for my actions to make sense and be consistent" "Very good. All those demons with a way too broad range of powers get so complicated." "Yes I agree" "Alright what particular skills do you have" "Well I can make water into wine" "Hmm... I guess that would be nice for making people drunk and do stupid things, that could come in handy. What else?" "I can make lots of food from just a little food" "...I suppose that could seem... conspicuous? What else?" "I can heal sick people" "Really?" "Really" "..." "..." "...Thank you for your time. We'll get back to you"

Yes Jeremy, there were more random letters spelling "Valak" in other points of the movie. there were actually two complete sets in the same scene, the one of Ed and Loraine talking in the kitchen of their house.
I'm not saying this movie doesn't deserve plenty sins but a lot of your sins didn't factor in the fact that Bill Wilkins doesn't care to haunt he wants to pass on and is being forced to stay, that's why he doesn't so much to start
I mean....how is it 'Directed by Tim Burton?' The Crooked Man is based off a Child's Poem that existed long before Burton was around and also that design, naw. Tim Burton wouldn't have gone with such a Kick Ass design.

One of the best filmed movies in a long long time
both of them are extremely boring and unscary with terribly written dialogues/characters and full of badly executed clichees
5:47 Valek (the demon) enjoys making colorful arts and crafts that spell out his name, and placing them on window sills, and the Warren's don't notice. (and neither did Cinema Sins) *DING*
cinema sins noticed it, skip to 15:41 DINGDING
@@aryankalia4653 Yea, that's not the same thing... nice try, tho! Valek clearly did not make those wooden letters on the bookshelf, he merely rearranged them... But he most certainly made those on the windowsill earlier in the movie, that much is clear from the use of pinking shears.... and CinemaSins missed it. *DING*
@@SemlerPDX first of all valak is a "she" lmao and secondly revisit the movie and get urself a headstart from the starting, valak clearly gave them the sign of her presence by spelling out her name and placing there but obviously they didn't notice DINGDING
Cheers!

I actually don't get it..tell me
Denise F St.
"Oh, she's being haunted by saint peter" Best quote. Props to Jeremy for calling that out lol.
nate skinner, yeah thankfully he didn't say antichrist. Finally someone points out, after all the Hollywood bullshit of the upside down cross being evil.

Sy-Fy made one recently, it was called The Crooked Man. Overall it was okay but don't expect too much.
for SyFy it was...ok?
Michelle Onodera this
You are 100% correct
That story has been debunked so many times it's embarassing. Yet this two hacks (the Warren) kept milking it for years.

Valak was the head vampire in the John Carpenter movie.
It is an easy fix, but its just ignored.
madhippy3
It's a subculture thing. Black and death metal bands started using random symbols and presenting it as "satanist" simply because those "looked cool".
That's why everyone gets confused.
madhippy3
I'm not 100% sure, but I heard that the cross means Jesus ascended into Heaven, and an upside down cross means Jesus *didn't* ascend to Heaven, so if you look at it that way it is blasphemy and its used in horror movies to show the demons are spiting God.
I thought it was because the cross was representative of Jesus while a inverted cross would be represented as a sign of the Anti-christ.
"Ahh! Another scary ghost! Kill it!"
"And holy sh*t they talked to it!"

The only difference is that Ed and Lorraine never came to live with the family, they had little to do with the story, it’s artistic license they’re even there.
tamemeifyoucan Bravo

9:29 The demon seemingly took awhile to start haunting them because it didn’t arrive until the ouija board was used. Valak was quiet in order for the girls to not say goodbye, then made an appearance after the girls had forgotten the board. Once Peggy ripped it apart there wasn’t anything they could do
In these conjuring stories demons are attracted to negative energy, and janet asked the spirit if their dad was gonna come back. This attracted Valak to the negative energy inside Janet and then it started haunting them

Yea it was also on the window and the bookshelf
The most annoying part of this movie was how Ed and Lorraine still considered it was fake AFTER ALL THE FUCKING SHIT they saw in the case already. I mean, jesus. There's a difference between keeping an open mind and just plain stupidity.
RomanceGirl6666 Well it happened in real life and it was fake. Go figure.
Yeah but in real life it didn't happen as it did in the movie. So still stands movie them had enough evidence to know it was real.
It wasnt fake.. not everything.
RomanceGirl6666
What's even more fucking annoying is that Ed and Lorraine nutjobs Warren had fuck all to do with this case in real life. They spent 1 DAY with the family. Maurice Grosse was the lead investigator. Fuck all to do with those idiotic yanks.
The reason why Crooked Man isn't deterred by the crosses upstairs is because those are more for decoration. The difference between them and Ed's cross is that Ed's cross was probably blessed.
SomethingScanning thankyou I was trying to explain that In another comment
@@kriskater Is that mentioned in the film? I don't recall that.
Ocrilat actually that’s from the Bible. Sooo...

The funniest shit is how the older brother is neglected in this movie. Why even write his character at all?
That guy they call Holderiano They probably cut out most of the brothers' lines since it was the girls who were playing the games.
@@Nexils These movies are very *loosely* based on true stories. They could have just cut him out.

+Emma Reeves welldone on ending an event in which would turn to a fight quickly. ten points good sir!
This is my favorite episode. I *love* the "DB levels" lines.
if you go back and check, VALAK is foreshadowed a couple other times too
Cygnus Gaming where?
+Ragequit 5:34
I think it's not just easter egg or something, their daughter was in contact with this demon all this time
and 5:46
White void
How do you know that ?
I just noticed the husband in the conjuring is the husband in insidious how could I be so blind 🤦🏽♀️
I always come to the comments for next level analysis like this!
I mean, did you see both? It's not exactly an easter egg lol.
I watched insidious but it was so long ago I completely forget what it was about
8:34 'directed by Tim Burton'
How could they miss that?
I mean....how is it 'Directed by Tim Burton?' The Crooked Man is based off a Child's Poem that existed long before Burton was around and also that design, naw. Tim Burton wouldn't have gone with such a Kick Ass design.
5:15 i actually laughed so bad at that part. Yelling My house wtf...and when a horror movie makes you laugh... it failed
The crooked man was a film also made in 2016. That dude with the umbrella is the demon in that film.
Hannibal The Mechawolf
If it's the same movie I saw, it was nonsensical shit and should be skipped.
Vicious And Delicious True
Though not so lanky
A quick google search will show you a cheesy looking film released in 2016 so yes, yes there is. Also looking into a crooked man film in 2018 provides little to no information other than a spin off for it maybe in 2019.
Oli Marie It was from a different studio, and it was trash. I think they’re gonna do their take on it
On the movie did yall notice the demon name was on the book shelf
Young J it was also on the background @ 5:35 and 5:46
i told my family there was a easter egg's of Valak's name they
I knew it since Annabelle and then I check on the shelf so seems like those shelf have some story about Valak
Where
I adore the fact that at 5:32, you can hear the smile in his voice
"Ohh she's being haunted by Saint Peter" lol I like this guy.
