That’s a lovely dress Karen well done. Good luck searching for your next machine…I just treated myself to a Juki DX7 and it fits my small space perfectly and the auto needle threader , auto thread cutter. auto foot lift etc have been a game changer for me (due to shoulder issues).its just so easy to sew now.
Thank you Carol. You've just listed my top must-haves for my new machine, the time it will save me not trying to pick up threads to cut and struggling to thread the needle! My hands are affected by my chemo and some days do not want to do what I want them to do! 🥰xx

Loving the fabric that you like to make a hoody out of, I think its a great idea I know you said you didn't want to buy anymore fabric, i think it would look lovely with green or blue chuffing and hood backing. I do 99% of the time Lynne! There are those times when the air is blue and the machine could go flying out of the window but they are getting less - I'm more relaxed about it now - it is starting to sink in that I am retired and don't have to do everything at top speed, like I did when the kids were at home. I think that fabric would make a lovely hoodie. The Tilly one is great. I've made 3 and love them. I put a band round the bottom of them to match the cuffs. One of them I used ready made cuffing which worked well too. And I've lined hoods with various fabrics. I'll look forward to seeing yours. X

Hi Rosie, the thing is if I order a jersey assuming it has stretch and it doesn't - even if I can remember what I was going to make with it if the pattern calls for stretch and the fabric has none it's another one for the stash till I find ANOTHER pattern that matches that fabric - if you see what I mean .... no wonder we build up a stash of both fabrics and patterns! so it's not our fault after all 🤣🥰xx

Hi Karen. Good to see you🥰 The bobbin looks like a tension issue to me. My old clunker does the same😂 I would like a janome 230DC as that's what I used in a recent class. You might want something a bit newer though.👍 Hope you find a fab one. Take care lovely 😘

Really like the fabric for the hoodie and suggest maybe picking up one of the colours ( probably the background base colour ) for the cuff and neckline . Hi Karen, you could possibly fix your sewing problem by either adding some tearaway stabiliser or a thin strip of lightweight iron-on facing to the seam you are sewing. The machine needle needs to slide along. I nearly teared my hair out the other day after changing the needle, bobbin etc only to discover it was the wadding inside my project causing the problem. I loved your blue dress and as usual I enjoyed your video.
Karen, the dress is beautiful on you. 🩷 You seem to find the best fabric… Makes me jealous! 😉 The pic of your thread nest almost looked like the bobbin wasn’t wound right or maybe had an issue with tension. New machine? I like Janome. I have a touch more space than you and got a big QCP to replace my Magnolia (which I kept for travel and stuff). It’s been an adjustment though. The new machine takes up a lot more space, although auto threading, cutting, knee lift, etc. were game changers for me. Never thought I needed those bells and whistles, but they make sewing so much more enjoyable.
The auto thread cutter and needle threader are top of my list - Adele from Sew4Serenity said that she didn't realise she needed those features until she had used a machine with them! There's such a choice it's a bit of a mine field! 🥰xx
Hi Karen, I've a suggestion for preventing hitting your knee. Could you insert a larger board on top of current work surface that comes out a few more inches yet still gives room to turn your chair? Yes, someone did suggest that but it's a solid bit on wood beneath the draw not like it is normally where there is just a bar across and the drawer runners are visible - this one is all encased may just invest in knee pads! 😂🥰xx
