omg, the teaching guide. this needs to become a thing. soooo helpful
I really wanted this comparison - thank you Tom!
Cool video Tom, one that I was expecting to see soon.
The vídeo, the game or just Tom?
I love this game so much, I bought both versions.
I have watched too many hours of Dice Tower vids...but, will hats ever NOT look like a prop on Tom?
Great info in the vid, definitely made my purchase decision easy! THANKS!
I dont think ill get the updated version. I know the game inside out, I'm fine with all the components, (except the ships, I like the ships) I actually like the older cards better I think. Now if i could get a great deal on the 2.0 i might consider it but i'm not gonna drop 60 bucks on it.
That being said. THIS GAME IS GREAT.
Love this game. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the remastered version I've just bought a week or so ago.
oh hi there! :o

Grimace!!! 💜
I really like the new version
The only clear nitpick i have is how the small black cubes and large black cubes are hard to differentiate on the cards
Whenever Tom mentions this game, I'm amused that "Sidereal Confluence" is essentially a synonym for "Cosmic Encounter" :D
And that's no accident
And the subtitle of the game "trading and negotiation in the elysian quadrant" has echoes of "trading in the mediterranean".
Maybe someday I'll upgrade, but without any new aliens or colonies or anything, it doesn't seem worthwhile.
Question not related to this game. What is the name of the game in the top left corner behind Tom?
I cannot make out the letters 🤔.
Sumatra
I see it now 😄. Thanks 👍. That's a very unique font!
Did you ever play the Paperclips videogame from a couple of years ago? What I've seen of this game, it feels a bit like that, except on steroids. Accurate?
Universal Paperclips? Well, they're both about turning resources into more resources and escalating your engine, but that's about it for similarities. Sidereal Confluence is all about the real time trading and asymmetric alien species.
@@blacksheep9950 Right. that's all I meant. The engine escalation.
Are there any rule updates and/or balance adjustments?
I don't like negotiation games. I reeeallly like this game.
Is it another game with individual player boards e.g. Bingo ? We much prefer one single board for all (one single location to look at) !
The game doesn't really have either a central board or player boards. The boards mentioned are really just hints and reminder text.
Everyone has their own array of cards in front of them, but the cards can be traded around just like the resources can. There are two tracks of cards in the centre which are the colonies and technologies everyone can bid on.
@@blacksheep9950 Well thanks, for the information.
I've never heard that word pronounced before. So you mean it isn't "side-real"? NotLikeThis
The original review: ruclips.net/video/kfZPnDg0X_Y/видео.html I WISH I could play this game!!!
Are the two editions mechanically identical? Do all the cards have the same effects or have some been changed, removed, or added?
Did you watch the review? He says they differ in only the components.
There's exactly one mechanical change as far as I'm aware, which is actually errata: the Zeth aren't supposed to start with a colony, and that's been fixed in the new edition.
Oh, and the maths typo on the precise scoring in the rulebook has been corrected.
@@MystiqWisdom No need to be an ass about it - I DID watch the review, and if you look at Greg's answer, there IS a change worthy of note not covered in the video. If you don't want to answer a question, let it go.
@@blacksheep9950 Thanks - I wasn't sure if there were any other balance changes Tom might not have noticed that could make a difference to pickier players.
Why didn't you put link to original video in description??
I use your channel to chose whether to buy something, as, I imagine, lot more people do and Tom talks about the original one in this video anyway...
I played this at a convention. I think it’s too sprawling, complex, and long for me. Maybe if I played it more I’d like it more because you really do need to know what everyone’s race does to trade with them and that is basically impossible on your first game. The new edition does look better though.
This game has been an absolutely disaster every time I tried to play it and I’m just bummed that now there’s a new version that’s much better and easier to read. I might look up the new rule book because the last one was awful. Like incredibly bad and I was so angry when I saw people talking about how to play online and realized how trash it was. It ruined the game.
