At least it worked well with Indara, and it's not like she was only in it for the opening, she's had and will have a fair amount of screen time beyond that first fight. Not seeing the wookie die was a shame, but i don't know if it would have worked the same. If you picture it we would see Qimir go in and kill him, then cut back to Mae run in to surrender and seeing him already dead. I think they made the right choice.

I love how Disney has been teasing a wookie Jedi since before any of the other characters were revealed and then not only is he killed offscreen after less than 5 minutes of screen time that didn’t serve any substantial purpose, but they also fully filmed an action set piece with him that had gone through at least partial post production to get the FX up to snuff to put in the trailer, then cut it. This is called blatantly lying to your audience, which isn’t new to Disney (they’ve done it a lot in the MCU actually) but in the past it was minor dialogue changes and alternate versions of a scene with minor changes, not removing entire action pieces of one of the biggest promotional characters
Yeah, that was my favourite part in the episode. Mae caught Qimir in a trap, nobody can stop her now and she's running to Kelnacca, and then seeing him dead already is one of the best storybeats in the show so far imo.

The budget part made no sense so I just thought it's more so episode duration and shifting POVs. Although a side view of that Dark force user lighting up his saber with Kelnaca at the front lighting his up would do just fine I think. At least it wouldn't cut away from the POV too much and the fight itself could be unveiled later.
The main thing I think is that Kelnacca's death should be a surprise to Mae and the viewers is important, and that moment of her finding him dead wouldn't feel right if we saw him battling the sith first.

Finally watched the First Episode today, and to say i was underwhelmed by it, it honestly putting it mildly. I didn't hate it but wasn't enthralled and wanting to see more of the story.
I usually agree with the fandom, but uhm. I really like this show? I mean I like the cinematography, the music, the story. But I guess I’m wrong. Sure the dialogue is a little wonky. But I really don’t understand where the hate is coming from.
Which is frustrating, because it means they're dedicating another episode from a different POV to what we saw in the (near-universally disliked) Episode 3, which won't redeem Episode 3 and will just make most people go: "WHY THE HELL ARE WE BACK HERE AGAIN?!" Burning 2 episodes in an 8 episode series for flashbacks is like the shoehorned Mando episodes in the middle of Book of Boba Fett. They ruin the pacing of the story and bring it down overall.

But seeing Kelnacca dead in the chair was like the first WTF moment in the show and when the episode ended I wanted to see more wich is definitley a good sign, 'cause that's exactly what a series should manage to do.
I don't understand why some are freaking out about this show. This is definitely not the series to be judging so soon. I am in full belief that many of these reasons will be resolved in upcoming episodes explaining them. As the video mentions, we know there is more that will be shown of Kelnacca.
Oh men, I totally agree with you. I don't know why people are so quick to hate the show, I mean for me the show is far from a 10/10, but still, it's extremely clear that the show still has a lot of story to tell. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that the one episode per week bullshit is the real doom of this show hahaha. Anyway, like I said, for me the show its mid, not god or bad (for know), but I will prefer to be patient and see what the show brings, and then draw any defenitive conclusions.

Personally I really liked the episode's ending, I thought it was really effective that Mae wants to turn herself in now after learning she was lied to, but when she's so close to her goal, she finds Kelnacca dead. It made the sith's entrance really impactful too, him floating down in the dark and force pushing everyone with ease was awesome. The reveal for Mae and the sith's entrance both would have been much weaker imo if they had a big fight with the sith and Kelnacca.
This show has potential i feel like most of the actual fights and some of the sets are actually really good, shame it was let down. This seems to be a recurring problem, Bobafett has some really good episodes only to be obliterated by that demonic chase seen. Andor S2 is my next hopeful for a good sw show. We should all be playing EAW in the meantime
I do see how it's possible that the story threads they've set up could come together in a way that makes sense and doesn't end up screwing up SW canon. But I don't trust that the writers/producers of this show are good enough, or respect the ip enough, to pull that off.
The entirety of Godzilla Minus One was made with a budget estimated around 15 million dollars yet this tv series with over 180 million at their disposal somehow could not afford having a Wookie fight on screen.
You do realize Godzilla Minus One budget was lower because of overworking and treated the Vfx artists badly right? Also not seeing the Wookie fight was a story decision not budget reasons, plus it will ruined the surprise appearance of the Sith.

This whole show is a perfect lesson in how NOT to write. It’s absolutely dreadful.
I don't understand why some are freaking out about this show. This is definitely not the series to be judging so soon. I am in full belief that many of these reasons will be resolved in upcoming episodes explaining them. As the video mentions, we know there is more that will be shown of Kelnacca.
Oh men, I totally agree with you. I don't know why people are so quick to hate the show, I mean for me the show is far from a 10/10, but still, it's extremely clear that the show still has a lot of story to tell. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that the one episode per week bullshit is the real doom of this show hahaha. Anyway, like I said, for me the show its mid, not god or bad (for know), but I will prefer to be patient and see what the show brings, and then draw any defenitive conclusions.
@domingoirarrazaval5589 that's totally reasonable. I personally like it so far with the expectation that a murder mystery is going to have some red herrings in it.
Personally I really liked the episode's ending, I thought it was really effective that Mae wants to turn herself in now after learning she was lied to, but when she's so close to her goal, she finds Kelnacca dead. It made the sith's entrance really impactful too, him floating down in the dark and force pushing everyone with ease was awesome. The reveal for Mae and the sith's entrance both would have been much weaker imo if they had a big fight with the sith and Kelnacca.

This show has potential i feel like most of the actual fights and some of the sets are actually really good, shame it was let down. This seems to be a recurring problem, Bobafett has some really good episodes only to be obliterated by that demonic chase seen. Andor S2 is my next hopeful for a good sw show.

I do see how it's possible that the story threads they've set up could come together in a way that makes sense and doesn't end up screwing up SW canon. But I don't trust that the writers/producers of this show are good enough, or respect the ip enough, to pull that off.

The entirety of Godzilla Minus One was made with a budget estimated around 15 million dollars yet this tv series with over 180 million at their disposal somehow could not afford having a Wookie fight on screen.
You do realize Godzilla Minus One budget was lower because of overworking and treated the Vfx artists badly right?
Also not seeing the Wookie fight was a story decision not budget reasons, plus it will ruined the surprise appearance of the Sith.

Yall keep acting like the biggest mistakes Disney made are all in the acolyte. I stopped giving a crap after “the emperor came back somehow” and suddenly everything written for Star Wars felt like bad fan fiction. Although, in retrospect, I really should’ve stopped paying attention after The Force Awakens… would’ve been easier that way I suppose
