Hell yeah. Remake this together with the Return of the King sequel into 1 new game, call it the ''Lord of the Rings: Trilogy'' like the game that was teased at the end of the Return of the King but was never released. Technically it would be the trilogy aswell, because the Two Towers game contains ''The fellowship of the ring'' in the beginning missions.
Back when movie tie in games were actually fun and playable. This game , Return of the King and Battle for Middle Earth were my childhood! I played this game everyday after school and never got bored of it! Good times and good memories.
When I first got to the final breach level, I had no idea you kill archers. But I looked it up years later, and to this day, I'm kicking myself for it.
Most people I meet talk about The Return Of The King game, but for me, the Two Towers was always the one I loved most as a kid. it was the first PS2 game I got so I think it had something to do with that, but what an amazing game overall. Not just a cheap tie in
I used to love playing this game and the return of the king when I was little. The books and movies are my favorite for a reason. So playing these games were so much fun for me for many years.
I was actually playing this yesterday! It's a fantastic game. In my opinion, it's the "golden axe" sequel we never got. That last helm's deep level is insane, it really is all out chaos. The "amon hen" (apologies to LOTR fans if I spelt that wrong) still the best level, you are literally in the movie. ..One does not simply forget playing "the two towers"
I loved this game so much even more than return of the king. My little childs brain was also overwhelmed by the graphics. I remember thinking to myself how will they ever top those graphics. Yeah I know probably one of my dumbest thoughts but hey still a dear memory. :D
Another great video mate, your passion for The Lord of the Rings trilogy is contagious, it makes me wanna revisit them. Also curious about your thoughts on the Shadow of games.
Can we agree that the inclusion of Boromir in this game is what solidified it as a timeless masterpiece? Also, the NOOOOOO scream in the Helm's deep keep level is one of the best screams in gaming.
Never gets old stringing together clean and effective combos in the midst of some of the game’s chaos. The gba counterpart is arguably even better. I miss this era of gaming so very badly. Been playing a lot of ps2 lately, and it’s been a huge reminder that games actually used to be fun. As a little kid, Sean bean’s boromir immediately became my favorite fantasy character of all time, and it’s stayed that way to this day. I remember always wishing so badly that the secret character was going to be boromir. If not him, I’d hoped for gandalf. Stupid me, totally went over my head that since isildur is the tutorial character that he’d be the unlockable. Still wish it was boromir. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve replayed mines of Moria just to watch gandalf the grey and boromirs animations in the game. I think return of the king is the better developed game, but I’ve always found the two towers the most fun to actually play, despite no co-op. Once a year or every other I play through the game as all 3 main characters on the hardest difficulty until I’ve unlocked everything for them. I’ve always loved how each of them feel unique enough that it genuinely changes the feel of each level. Defending the hornberg with a non maxed out Legolas should be mentioned more when it comes to most difficult video game levels 😂😂
This was one of my favorite games as a kid, and my best friend and I played this game over and over and over again! For whatever reason, Amon Hen was my favorite setting in the game. Super stoked to see you cover this one! :D
@@Sanguivore When I played it as a kid, the Commander, Lurtz, used to scare me. But coming back to it as an adult even while knowing this wonderful story's context, I still laugh at the graphics and Uruk-Hai voice acting.
@@Beregond1861 Yeah, Lurtz scared the heck out of me too as a kid! xD My friend usually had to beat that part for me, LOL. Looking back on it as an adult, it definitely is silly, hahaha.
Lovely video! I remember replaying this a lot and finding the Hornburg mission really hard. I also remember a weird glitch in a cutscene in one of the early levels - Moria I think - when your character almost falls off a cliff/rock. Also, do I hear the Morrowind soundtrack? 😁
The first Ps2 game I ever played back in the day at my best friends house. My jaw dropped when I saw the graphics coming from PS1. I recently picked up a PS2 in 2024 and this was one of the first games I tracked down. I took me 22 years to get this game
Fun fact, the basis of these games was Tiger Woods PGA tour. They needed an engine that could handle large areas and an objective at the end. The playable characters are effectively the golf balls.
I’ve been a LOTR die hard since I was a kid a laid eyes on the masterpiece that is the movies. And Two Towers has always been my favorite movie and game. I love the ROTK game though as well as some of the best memories I have are of playing ROTK with my wife.
love this game! Surprised you didn't mention the satisfaction of executing the cool instant kill moves square X R2. its a different instant kill attack for a Goblin, Uruk Hai, and Orcs
I remember played the mines of Moria at a store display at the mall and being blown the fuck away! This was so cool when I was a kid. I really love Return of the King too!

One of the things that still haunts me Is that we didn't get to play as Gandalf against the Balrog. That would have been such a boss fight if the developers had added It to the game.
Loved Balins Tomb ❤ such a great area to be playing in. The only issue I had is that the berserker at the start of fangorn forest kept on killing me so easily 😂x
If you want a blast from the past. Try the two towers for the Gameboy advance. That game was so cool as a kid and the fact it played like a into to scavenger rpgs like a fallout made it even better. You could summon ring wraiths
This was great I'd love to see a video about the third age or battle for middle earth!! Absolutely classic games, I really wish I could play the third age again I'm sure it's not as good as I remember it being but still would love to play again. I loved final fantasy back in the day so when I got my hands on a LOTR turn based rpg I was immediately in love with it
Hi I found your channel through your God of War retrospective and also enjoyed your videos about these Lord of the Rings games since I am also a huge LOTR fan myself. It would be nice if you could make a review for Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War. Shadow of Mordor is still my favourite game of all time and thats allthough I played it before I even watched the movies.
I would love to see you revisit Conquest. I used to play that game nonstop and only quit cause to give my 360 to my brother who was without a console at the time
Can't wait. I was saw a video earlier today talking about a fan made project in the works called Conquest Reimagined where they remaster the game, add new content, and tweak existing content
The thing is Electronic Arts in general were in a very good creative place during the 2000s. Sure, they never managed to deliver any true masterpieces, and their sports titles were still considered lazy cashgrabs byt the standards of their time (albeit the FIFA games had some solid entries early on), but they were responsible for a surprisingly long lineup of of 8/10s games, many of which were tie-in games of movie franchises. Their apotheosis would come in 2008 with the releases of "Mirror's Edge" and, of course, the original "Dead Space". Too bad that EA doesn't exist anymore.
It was amazing for it's time. No other game had these graphics and effects and 100 people on the screen at the same time doing crazy hack and slashing. It was like the perfect action adventure game. Definitely dethroned by god of war, but that came out 5 years later.
Man this game was awesome I eventually bought fellowship of the ring, the hobbit and return of the king, I already had third age it was my first console lord of the rings game abd when I had them, I did a whole Lord of the Rings Game marathon all weekend starting from The Hobbit to The Third Age.
@@MayorHairBear Well I know what I'm gonna tune into, miss these games if I had a PC I would play on Steam but I'm happy just to see other gamers enjoy them.
I remember when this game was trashed on by Mike Matei when he played the Two Towers and the Return of the King on GameCube and he explained in great detail why the games were so frustrating and annoying and it was mainly due to annoying levels were there’s bad camera angles, not enough checkpoints, characters that get in your way all throughout the levels and really annoying bosses
Oh yeah I remember this one from my childhood. I enjoyed it quite a bit back then from what I remember, glad to see it managed to stay good over the years
The two towers title is actually misleading because the first half of the game is actually the fellowship of the ring. What an amazing game though…I wish for a remake with more levels, like a Balrog boss fight and characters like Boromir and Gandalf.
Not only is it strange, but the Fellowship part holds the better missions and if the Balrog was a fight too it'd be a no contest. Two great games in one package
@@MayorHairBear If I was to remake the game, apart from better graphics I would add as, Playable characters: Gandalf, Faramir and Boromir for specific levels and as unlockables. And then improvements like better AI and giving Isildur a bit of animation uniqueness instead of being an Aragorn skin. co-op and vs mode.
I loved playing all the old LOTR games on my PlayStation 2, my favourite was the third age and I recently started playing it again and still love it! Please can you review it?
I found it really hard to successfully execute the combos. Not sure why, but it seems like you need to time the button presses correctly, as well as there bring a good chance that your combo will be interrupted by enemy attacks. I found it easier to spam normal and heavy attacks..
My favorite lord of the rings game of all time. Anything close is bfme2. I always preferred two towers over return of the king video game. Rotk was good but two towers was better. I played it on the ps2 as a kid, never beat at got stuck on the last helm’s deep level, the courtyard. Ended up getting robbed and didn’t have it anymore until I got older and got the two towers for my GameCube and was finally able to beat it and it was so satisfying and the nostalgia was phenomenal. I would beat it on expert fairly easily which got annoying because rotk gave me the challenge I wanted.
I am considering it, my only concern is I really disliked it back in the day and I don't foresee that changing today. The Third Age though is in play though!
I have no idea how you can capture the game footage, that itself would be a feat. On Gamepass via Xbox current gen? Never understood (with wonder) how it was done to get footage from retro games 🤔😁
So there's a few ways to record retro games. You have a device that changes the output from avi to hdmi for your capture card though the expensive ones are the only one with decent quality, you have backwards compatibility or retro re releases or if those aren't available you always have emulation. For this one I had to use an emulator, ROTK I played via my 360
Were you on easy difficulty on the background gameplay? I played this game a couple weeks ago and the Urukai and orcs didn't get stunned with aragorn's light attacks unlike in your video. Maybe it's just my disc being funky or the difficulty setting .
I feel like LOTR has the most consistent, not terrible video games franchise-wise and I'm honestly okay with that, they're not all perfect or brilliant but they all do what they set out to do well enough. And that's enough for me. I'd love to see you cover all the other LOTR games eventually too! Also yeah, f*ck Lurtz.
I completely agree. They're not all winners but they're for the most part enjoyable experiences that achieve what they set out to achieve. I will cover more in the future!
Shadow of mordor and war are really good games but I really wish we could have an hd remaster for both the two towers and the return of the king, I have my ps2 but playing on a modern tv feels terrible
even if return of the king have more content and charachter two tower is way better in making the charachter different, gimbli got a special base attack that deal more damage to some foe, and again a special one who would go berserk, feeling slower too and get less "arrow" on the form of 25 axe, where legolas is way less tankier than any other charachter do have 60 arrow and seem to hit better, and his blade seemed faster and weaker, then aragorn would be tankiest and relatively good on every aspect, 30 arrow, so yeah they was quit more different than the hobbit from the return of the king, same for aragorn like and so, also the fact that all have the same ammount of "arrow"
I personally find the Two Towers superior to the Return of the King. The game is less graphically advanced and has fewer levels than its sequel for sure, but the gameplay is better. Enemies actually felt like a threat (ie AI PUNISHES you for blocking too long) and there are noticeable differences in how they behave. RoTK's enemies feel boring. Other than the looks and enemy-designated moves, they don't block your attacks (aside from shielded foes) and attack. If they ever do a remake and add characters, I would love to play as Boromir since they did "what-if" scenarios, why not him.
I remember the last two levels of this game being so hard for me when I was a kid.
I was dreading them coming in and they lived up to that difficulty, it is tough!
Yesssss. It was so hard when I was little
Me too
Saaaaaame
Exactly what I was thinking too, I couldn’t ever beat them
If these games got remasters I would be so happy, they were some of the best games during the ps2/og Xbox generation.

I would love too see a video of the "the fellowship of the ring" god that is on the same tier as lotr the third age is too me atleast ^^
I am considering it, my only concern is I really disliked it back in the day and I don't foresee that changing today. The Third Age though is in play though!
NGL the Helm's Deep levels in this game were harder than anything in Return of the King.
100% 😂
I have no idea how you can capture the game footage, that itself would be a feat. On Gamepass via Xbox current gen? Never understood (with wonder) how it was done to get footage from retro games 🤔😁
So there's a few ways to record retro games. You have a device that changes the output from avi to hdmi for your capture card though the expensive ones are the only one with decent quality, you have backwards compatibility or retro re releases or if those aren't available you always have emulation. For this one I had to use an emulator, ROTK I played via my 360
I loved this game as a kid even more than the return of the king game
Were you on easy difficulty on the background gameplay? I played this game a couple weeks ago and the Urukai and orcs didn't get stunned with aragorn's light attacks unlike in your video. Maybe it's just my disc being funky or the difficulty setting .
There's a.. Golum game coming out isn't there?
There is, got a delay with no new release date but it was supposed to come out this month
We need a remaster for ps5 and also the two towers game as well both need a remaster
@@MayorHairBear I'm glad you agree! I look forward to your future videos too! I know a lot of effort goes into them
Hey, is that the Morrowind theme playing during the video? 😀
Good ear mate, LOTR music is a quick way to get copyright claimed and Elder Scrolls just fits the games so well 😂
@@MayorHairBear Perfect choice, goes very well with the theme of the game. Also, congrats on the video. Another good one.
Shadow of mordor and war are really good games but I really wish we could have an hd remaster for both the two towers and the return of the king, I have my ps2 but playing on a modern tv feels terrible
You should review War in the North
I plan on covering a lot more LOTR games, that's on the list!
What about The Third Age?
TTT is fun but RotK has more replayability for me
1000%
Best game ever made spent hours play this with my cousin
Morrowind music in the background?
You know it 😂
@@MayorHairBear I’m here for it. Great soundtrack
@@RobsW23 incredible ost and a must considering LOTR music would get this video taken down or claimed 😂
How about Lord of the Rings: The Third Age?
God I loved the Lotr ps2 games
Such fond memories, really special games!
Ever play war in the north?
I really enjoyed War in the North, excited to revisit it sometime!
even if return of the king have more content and charachter
two tower is way better in making the charachter different, gimbli got a special base attack that deal more damage to some foe, and again a special one who would go berserk, feeling slower too and get less "arrow" on the form of 25 axe, where legolas is way less tankier than any other charachter do have 60 arrow and seem to hit better, and his blade seemed faster and weaker, then aragorn would be tankiest and relatively good on every aspect, 30 arrow, so yeah they was quit more different than the hobbit from the return of the king, same for aragorn like and so, also the fact that all have the same ammount of "arrow"
Yes
I personally find the Two Towers superior to the Return of the King. The game is less graphically advanced and has fewer levels than its sequel for sure, but the gameplay is better. Enemies actually felt like a threat (ie AI PUNISHES you for blocking too long) and there are noticeable differences in how they behave. RoTK's enemies feel boring. Other than the looks and enemy-designated moves, they don't block your attacks (aside from shielded foes) and attack. If they ever do a remake and add characters, I would love to play as Boromir since they did "what-if" scenarios, why not him.
Same with RotK!
exuse me can I ask you a question?
Great game!
I like The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
