Oh, the first flooring - how I feel for you!! I think each of us can relate to the “unexpected” happening, despite our best efforts. But, you persevered and the 2nd floor is so gorgeous! I so enjoyed this entire video, as always! Considering the week we’ve had here in the US (!), your video feels like a lovely light in what seems like a dystopian darkness! So, extra thanks to you for this lovely video! 💙 Kathleen
Thank you so much Kathleen! I'm glad to provide a little light with my journal. I have friends on both political sides in the US. I know these are difficult times for you at the moment. 🤗
In Canada we call it parchment paper but baking paper sounds great. I use it all the time and never for baking.😂 My husband does the cooking and I use to bake and cook but I’m in a wheelchair full time, so he does that now, lucky me. Thank you, for sharing all of your tricks and tips. Your floor turned out amazing and your doors are fantastic. You are very talented. I wish I were able to do all of the things you do. I will check out your website.🤗🇨🇦
Ah yes, parchment paper! I knew the word but forgot. How nice to have a partner who can (and will) cook. My partner cooks twice a week, and is good at it. It is so nice not to have to break the day when I'm deep into making miniatures. About Miniature in Tune, the one thing I don't like about the location (the Tune Conference Center) is that it has old buildings with many staircases and it's not wheelchair accessible. We have two people with walkers who come every year, but they need help sometimes getting up a few steps here and there.
All your flooring looks wonderful. It's going to be a gorgeous setting. I read the glass tip as well, from Pat and Noel Thomas. Painting the edges black also hides the thickness if one can't find thin glass. Great video, Thanks. 📐✂📏🪟
You are amazing! my heart absolutely broke when you showed us that ruined marble floor. I’ve seen you do that so many times, put some of that paper over it and weigh it down. But I’ve never seen it stick like that. Bravo to you for recovering from that and not throwing the whole thing into a bonfire! this was really a wonderful episode. Absolutely fascinating to watch you replace those tiny glass panes. Although I couldn’t believe that you had to do two of them. It was really cute to see you sneaking outside and being quiet so you could spray your floor😂 That oak floor is absolutely magnificent! I would like to have that framed so I could put it on my wall. You have such an eye for detail and such extraordinary craftsmanship and skill. It really is a privilege to look over your shoulder as you create such beautiful things. Thank you 💕
Hello Josje, the doors look wonderful, at least you noticed the cracked glass now and not after you had fitted them into the roombox, the wooden floor is beautiful, I love real wooden floors, the concentration needed to keep the pattern correct must be exhausting, what a shame about your marble floor, I'm not surprised you were upset, the new one looks just as lovely as the old one. It's still quite mild over here in the UK, though it is very dull with grey cloudy skies, we've had no sunshine here in my bit of Yorkshire for about two weeks now, but at least it's not raining for a change. Have a lovely Sunday and week ahead. Best Wishes from Yorkshire England 🇬🇧 😊
A bit of (candle) wax to make the tablesaw sled slide a bit better might help. I would not take any more off as it does fit now. My sleds have a metal strip underneath, with the same construction. Pete Boorum said that every saw is ever so slightly different. I have 6 sleds for a variety of things, such as tapered table legs, box joints and angled cuts. Just 1 wouldn’t fit, but back then (at least 10-15 years ago) he talked me through it via email! It wasn’t easy and there were quite a few attempts at fixing it, I do remember that. Once it fits, you won’t look back!
Yes, safety first. I guess that's why I avoid power tools. I have a wonderful hand saw that is great. In fact I found out a few weeks ago it cuts through a pork bone like its butter. Yup, ordered a new one just for the kitchen. Lol
I cover some of my metal weight blocks like you have with masking tape. It works well because things don't stick to the masking tape and it wont turn anything black. Give it a try it works well. Thank you so much for all your videos.
Oh how frustrating that must have been when the plastic stick to the “marble” floor! You took the disappointment with such grace. The oak flooring is coming along beautifully. There is a hardwood lumberyard a couple of hours from me and I keep meaning to check if they have something similar. I need to write a note to myself to give them a call. I’m off to look at the Miniature in Tune website. Oh how I’d love to go! Take care, Sally in Northern California 😁
It was frustrating! 🙄 But the good news is that the new floor is almost ready. Oh yes, you should definitely find out what the lumberyard has. Maybe they have a website? The ones I know here have both large stock and veneers. I know Tune is a bit far for you, but who knows...Some students combine their trip with a European vacation. Maybe I'll meet you there one day. Thank you Sally! 😃
Masterclass floors. Thank you. Flooring makes such a big difference in quality and realism. Curious how you trimmed the jagged edges, by hand saw or machine? Very nice.
My pleasure, Tara. Well, it wasn't really a masterclass, but I think it gave a good idea of how I made it. I used my band saw to cut off the edges. You could easily do it with a hand saw or jig saw. The band saw is just quicker. 😃
I really admire your determination, knowledge and skill! Personally, I struggle to find materials that do not bend too much. I seem to remember that you once wrote that you used the cardboard from a dollhouse magazine as foundation for the floor (or walls?). I noticed that you (now) use wood. Would you mind sharing what type of wood? Is it plywood of some sort? Amazing work!
Your flooring is absolutely gorgeous! Would you mind sharing your exact model of your saw? I’ve been trying to build pieces around a mini saw I purchased and it’s just not working out as I envisioned but yours looks perfect for my needs. Thank you and thanks for sharing.
Thank you Sheryl! The saw is from Byrnes Model Machines. I've got the 18" table model. Unfortunately, Jim Byrnes passed away last year, and I don't think they're producing the table saw at the moment. I hope they will again in the future. But you may be able to find a second-hand one. They are very good quality. 😃

Same in 🇺🇸. Freezer paper is normally waxed on one side and is thick.
Really loved watching tonight's video. The flooring is stunningly beautiful ❤❤❤
The flooring is absolutely stunning! I'm so looking forward to seeing the final result! have a lovely Sunday. kindest regards, k

Thanks so much Julie! 😊
Wonderful Mintature In Tune website. I really enjoyed the gallery and artist links. Such amazing pieces of art!
