Thanks for the info! I'm a rodbuster/box culvert builder I do everything from tying to pouring concrete in north Alabama I appreciate all the knowledge you have shared and I intend to apply it at work thanks!
Thanks for the info from the "east side". I noticed a lot of the structural steel guys from TEC also have the same brand of scabbards/ pouches for their wrenches and sleever bars.
How does one get in the Rodbuster Union? I’m starting as a rodbuster on Monday for a small company. I’m Just starting off in construction. It’s gonna be hell a lot different than sitting all day in an office, lol.
Decent video man 👍 we also take out the spring on the pliers not all of us use pads lol and some rod-busters carry more tools than that depending on the job and what we are doing I have one that I can carry up to seven or eight tools but I prefer to use my lighter one 🤙🇺🇸#local37 #local46 #local7 #local11 #local51
Hey Dan, where are you in the U.S.? I'm a Local 7 Boston IronWorker, currently living in the Seattle area, and working through Local 86 IronWorkers Hall. I would love to do an updated video with Eastern and Western perspectives on tying rebar!!! Mike
I have seen them on Ebay in the past. Unless you know someone that works at a dairy, that would be your best bet! Other than that, there a couple of iron worker and rod buster stores on line that may have them.
dont waste your time on milkers they twist on the back end of the pliers when you're tying i didnt care for em just get some 3/8's fuel hose from auto parts store it fits snug and doesnt twist on you
I am trying without much luck. I've been told that he is a one man outfit and is a retired rodbuster in his 70's. He also makes several other pouches/frogs that I am trying to get a hold of, the sell out fast!
Hey. Wasup fellas I am an rodbuster and may I ask did u ever got in contact or have the info for the men who sells the leather pouches I am really interested in buying few of them for my team. Please if there is any info or any link to contact this men lmk.. Blessings from the east coast
It's a choice. I rather keep the springs. They are useful especially when having to tie the heads of cables inside a column. There's barely any space to move around much less open the pliers with your fingers.
Thanks for the info. I have talked to a rod buster who is left handed like me and he had some issues with the pouch being set up for right handed people and of course all of the Klein plyers and side cutters are backwards for us. He said that in his apprenticeship "Hell Week" all of the journeyman trainers would start to show him how to make the different ties and then quit when they found out he was left handed.
How do you feel about Knipex pliers? I’ve been watching some rodbusting videos on RUclips and a lot of the comments are from Europeans who prefer them instead of our pliers.
I can say I'm not impressed with their linemans pliers at all. They came nice and broke in right off the bat but the pin is starting to get play in it. Only had em maybe 3 weeks. Not worth the 50 bucks I paid. Do yourself a favor and stick to Klein
um in california they use all kinds of pouches/scabbards what do they keep all their tools in a klein pouch?? seriously?? and the difference between the first pouch and the last one you showed is about 50 bucks so i always bought the ones you showed first and they lasted just fine and any ironworker worth a shit only uses klein #7's as the #9's are too fucking heavy and a waste and the wooden rule is also faster than a tape for marking out something.

Nothing you learn here will help, pay attention to your journeyman, always watch and copy till you figure your own style
Thank you, Dan & Sarah Makers! Nice job!
Retired rigger here. Used a variety of your Pouch but over many years we called them Frogs. Have you ever come across the Frog word for pouch etc.
Awesome video !

I know the man who makes them. It's called a Christy scabbard. I am a Union Ironworker Local 14. Have been a rod buster for 18 years. Thanks

where can I buy all that?
How do they incorporate these tools into the safety harness?
Safety harnesses have a belt around the waist, you just add your tools to that belt.
Did you ever get the contact info for the guy that makes the tool pouches?
Where can I find the milkers

I've used those scabbard and to be honest don't like it, pouch are not deep enough to hold pliers and cutters.

knipex for life
I haven't used the Kinpex yet. They are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for with tools. I will look into it.
