I was lucky enough to pick up a second hand 35kg front flywheel bike in isolation. I’ve ended up replacing the pedals and the friction pad after 3mths of near daily use. It has to be my best purchase ever. And I still use it multiple times a week, even though the gyms have reopened
That's awesome!!!! I always recommend people try a secondhand bike when getting a first bike! Glad to hear it wasn't too difficult to replace those components! Thanks for all the comment, I'm sure it'll be helpful for others! 🥰🥰🥰💯🤩

Fantastic video. I loved spinning workouts at the gym but after my folks got a spin bike at their place a couple of years back I’ve started to get hooked on it at home, the only downside is the bike they have is too small so I need to get my own bike with more adjusting options. Glad I found your channel
Very helpful Video as I couldn’t decide between a bike with a 26Lb or 40Lb flywheel. Thanks to your helpful video I know I should go with heavier flywheel now.
I got a Schwinn AC performance with no console. Bought the wahoo cadence and speed sensors, use my iPhone with the wahoo app and don’t need a computer console.
Hi Kirsten, Nice to see your video as i seeing to buy a spin bike for myself. I have choosen a spin bike and only thing is its having chain driven, should i go with it and long durability and not much of sound.
I would go with durability over sound as I personally have a chain driven bike myself! If it's a high quality bike within your budget, then I would go with that! Also, Facebook marketplace has good deals for used bikes sometimes!
That's tough. I would try to see if you can find a high quality used bike, or check out Sunny Health Fitness bikes. Double check the max user body weight capacity to verify quality!
Good information! My bike has a 40 pound flywheel, felt pad resistance, and is belt driven. After hearing your advice, I feel better about my purchase;). I ended up getting the PooBoo C580 and love it.
You definitely need some resistance for safe riding and to protect the joints! All bikes should allow for you to adjust resistance from 0 to max. I recommend checking out Facebook marketplace for some good bike deals! Schwinn, Nordictrac, Echelon, Bowflex, Frequency Fitness are usually great quality options! 💕
I own the Spinning Star Trac Spinner NXT now. Highly recommend - used from Facebook marketplace. Any bike that hits the criteria in this video is a good bet, irrespective of brand!
Hi. Thanks for all you do. I've been looking at bikes for weeks and can't decide. First I was thinking recumbent but now I'm thinking spin. Is echelon any Good? Thinking the ex 5 due to adjustable handle bars... I'm real short 4' 11
Unless you have an injury or other reason for not being able to stand for reps on the bike, I highly recommend a spin bike! Echelon is great. I couldn't find many specs for the one you listed but the max user body weight capacity is high which indicates a sturdy bike. All, it seems very adjustable. Side note - I highly recommend checking out facebook marketplace for a good deal too!
@@KirstenAllen great thanks! It's good to hear from someone with experience. I'm seeing some on marketplace like yours! Have to get one asap and follow along with your workouts :)
How do you think the Kesier bikes much lighter flywheel effects the pedaling feel and overall workout compared to most other heavy flywheels? Most people seem to love the Keiser but a few people, especially the Studio Cycles guy say they are inferior. What are your thoughts on Keiser light flywheels vs heavy flywheels?
Heavier flywheels typically feel most similar to outdoor riding and you have to work harder to get the momentum going. However, Keiser bikes do have a great reputation. I have not personally owned one though!
@@KirstenAllen I have a Keiser knockoff and it's was a great deal for a beginner / slow poke like me - Ha! For $250 it's magnetic with belt drive, but the skeptic in me also opted for an extended warranty. Cadence of 80-100 is a dream, and I can barely manage half of that. - lol Thank you for your dedication to the channel and subbed yesterday.
What is the best inexpensive bike with magnetic resistance, lighter flywheel, and resistance level display? PLEASE REPLY!!!! (A plus would be having the tablet holder)

I am fortunate to have a very helpful playitagainsports dealer in my corner. I could get a used schwinn ac sport that needs bearings... advice? Does this have to be totally expensive? Can we do no more tears? Ms Allen -- what are you riding? Jeff T, Oregon
I bought my spin bike off Facebook marketplace, so I would start there first. A used bike that needs a lot of maintenance from the jump may not be worth it.
Hi Kristen what do you think about Sunny fitness sf b1877, that one looks decent to me except it is really heavy, approximately 55 Kg for the whole bike and the flywheel is 29 lbs which is one pound short of what you recommended😅does it really matter? I have seen some bikes that have 35 pounds of flywheel but the whole bike is only 60 to 70 lbs, sounds not too normal to me, that means without the wheels those bikes are only about 30 to 40 lbs?😮🤔️would they break easily?🤨 Thanks in advance
Hi! I would recommend looking at the Max User Bodyweight Capacity of the Sunny bike (or any bike) to confirm the bike's quality! A good quality bike should be able to support around 300lbs. I wouldn't worry about a 1 lb difference in flywheel weight. Also, I highly recommend trying to see if you can get a good deal on a used bike off Facebook marketplace first!
Hi Kirsten. I am glad I found your channel today. I am based in the US and in the market for a spin bike. Do you have any recommendations? @@justexcel522 I would go with a flywheel weight 40lb+... Not sure what the bowflex c6 flywheel weight is. Hi there I need some help....i have a magnetic one but i find the resistance too stiff because i pedal using only my right leg(i dont use my left due to a surgery)....Will the friction provide less of a resistance?
I think resistance might feel too tough with either option. However, friction resistance does allow more fine-tuning versus magnetic which is often only available as set levels.
Oh wow 300lbs is a lot! This one weighs roughly 25 kilos haha. I’m based out of India, and spin bikes here start at ~$90. The one I’m considering is magnetic and costs $150. Thanks a bunch for the super helpful video and your guidance by the way :)
Which of the following options is better? - direct contact resistance with 18 kg flywheel - magnetic resistance with 6.5 kg flywheel I know magnetic resistance is definitely better but is having a heavier flywheel more important??
A 6.5 kg flywheel seems pretty light... I would go with the higher quality bike overall. Double check the max user body weight capacity of the magnetic resistance bike and the materials used for the frame. This will be a good indicator of quality. Like I said in the video, I prefer to prioritize a heavier flywheel as it gives a smoother ride and is most comparable to outdoor riding.
I have the schwin IC4. It’s pretty good so far. I can’t adjust resistance that quickly...takes a lot of turns to go from a light resistance to a climb. Otherwise it’s a nice bike
Oh that's a nice one!! Thanks for sharing on the resistance sensitivity for others reading the comments! Such a pet peeve when it takes too long to get the right tension!
