We'll go from most expensive to least expensive indoor cycling bike, at the time I bought, some are less expensive now and some do have limited time discount prices so the description box below for links to the current best price. This is simply a quick run down of what comes to mind right away, definitely going to miss some things, this is just a highlights indoor cycling review video, and believe me when I saw I have more in depth videos on each of these indoor spin bikes so if one of these bikes catches your interest watch my in depth video on it.
Let's start with the king, the Peloton bike plus, $2495 plus $39/mo

most convenient to get on and go, you get the leaderboard, cadence, resistance, power, tons of metrics on a beautiful rotating screen with excellent audio, and automatic changing resistance, and apple gymkit to connect your apple watch
Cons
price, recurring price, delivery speed/time, locked into only peloton, handlebars don't move forwards and backwards
Schwinn ic4 $900
pros
schwinn ic4 is adjustable, smooth magnetic resistance and excellent drive train feel, high max user weight of 330lbs, screen that shows resistance and cadence, peloton alternative comes with weights and a HRM and comes with dual side clip in pedals/cage, resistance knob on schwinn ic4 only takes about 4 turns from 0-100
cons
no peloton leaderboard, pedals seem to come loose on schwinn ic4, max resistance leaves more to be desired at this price point for my weight and power output,

metrics, screen doesn't give cadence, resistance, watts, Pedals are cheap, water bottle holders get in the way of tablet holder on joroto x2 bike
Proform tour de france cbc from costco $385
pros:
you can buy the proform bike on a whim at costco, automatic resistance with ifit, free ifit for a year, smooth magnetic resistance, great handlebars, thick and nice hand position options, screen gives you cadence and resistance numbers on proform bike from costco
cons:
riding position of proform tdf bike is aggressive and stretched out relative to other bikes, max handlebar height isn't very high. No resistance knob, must use buttons on screen or ifit app to auto adjust, resistance changes slowly, max resistance out of the box was weak.
Sunny bike $369
pros:
massive flywheel unique feel and lots of inertia, max resistance, great for tall people not to say its not good for short people too, looks great and solid build quality. Versatile, not locked into any platform and highly customizable, no electronics means you'll never have to worry about the electronics failing you on the sunny indoor bike.
cons:
sunny bike noise, leather pad requires maintenance and it is not as smooth of a drive train feel compared to magnetic resistance, no cadence or resistance metrics, can add wahoo for cadence, the sunny bike is great overall and has a great reputation so if you really want magnetic resistance i'd encourage you to take a peek at the 1805 which costs twice as much but makes a good peloton bike alternative.

Great video, I actually have the sunny bike, I got it for that 49 lbs flywheel. Add it cadence, speede sensor and use swift or Garmin program and I get lots of matrix, if you have a samsung Tablet or phone you can use ant + sensors
How did you attach your accessories? The handles do not accommodate screens, correct?

I purchased a Joroto on Amazon a few months ago and the pedal and the crank stripped by the fourth ride and it become completely unusable. Their customer service was great, but the bike quality was terrible and I was so disappointed; I have since been afraid to take the plunge and try another option. These videos help! Thank you!

I wish I had seen more videos like this prior to my purchase. I would have paid more attention to the flywheel weight and the available extension on the handlebars and saddle. My bike is good, but I feel I could do with just one more extension hole for my optimum riding position. But now it is up and running, I am making the most of it enjoying tapping in to the many free classes on RUclips. If I do it again I’ll be much better informed!
The Costco bike was sold out in 2 days at my local costco. Thanks for these great reviews. I bought the Costco bike and I’m glad I didn’t splurge on Peloton - maybe someday but if I decide to put the money in to it at a later date I think I’ll be in a better position to know if it will be worthwhile.🙏

For those looking for minimal to no maintenance, we recommend checking out our magnetic resistance bikes! Since it’s a magnetic brake and its pad doesn’t touch the flywheel, you won’t have to worry about wear and tear, replacement, or any friction-generated noise.

Since I've been digging deep into your videos, I've found a gently used Sunny B1002. The seller said it was "broken" but it just needs a new belt. Do you have maintenance videos for simple repairs like this? Have you replaced a belt using a correct sized serpentine belt? I'm about to see if a $10 belt is worth the headache I'm about to jump into. 😂

Great review. I'm contemplating getting an indoor bike due to the pandemic, but even after watching this, I'm not sure which one would be for me. Sure, I would love the Peloton model, but I can't substantiate the high cost. At my age, I'm just a casual rider for fun and fitness. This was such an awesome video, setting up my home gym since all my gyms are permanently shut down due to COVID. I usually do kickboxing, spinning, additional cardio and resistance training. I got a great boxing bag, resistance bands, and a vertical climber but needed a good quality bike without breaking the bank. I was between a lot of the bikes in your video. Peloton seemed unnecessary. You made my research and decision so easy. Just got the Echelon connect. Wanted to wait for the Amazon version but really don’t know when it will be back. Can’t wait any longer to loose the weight from last baby so ordered it from WM on a Black Friday special. Thanks so much!! Recommendations on a mat??

I am back here paying closer attention to this video. Peloton just canceled my delivery again. Ive heard many complaints on how peloton is handling delivery, warranty and other problems.......I will be cancelling my order and looking for a cheaper bike and tread. So, once again, I appreciate your videos.......I need them now :)
I ordered the bike and the thread on September 30 th......first no show / no call on delivery date 11/13, rescheduled for 12/07, rescheduled for 12/29.
Peloton is definitely not trustworthy
Peloton Owner for almost 3 years. I just had a conversation with Support Leads yesterday. I am getting my SEVENTH bike in March - yes SEVENTH bike swap. They had to compensate me 39 months warranty for the cost of the 12 months warranty. I ended up getting 7 months of free subscription. I told them yesterday that if my account represents what is wrong with Peloton - then Peloton will fail and fail spectacularly. I don't own the Bike+ but I pulled the plug on that in October after having second thoughts. I feel your pain - trust me. I feel it.
They will have to assimilate the Precor purchase quickly to make up the ground they've lost in their disasterous rollout of the Bike+. There are so many options out there - the Stages SB Bike is now out and available to order - I'm looking at that one long-term. I don't think the Peloton bike can handle the volume I give it. It's really too bad because I would bleed the brand but really I'm the one bleeding on the opporrtunity cost of the purchase. I lost out on better opps. I can't even sell the bike I have now - something has happened wtih the frame after a year + where the seat and the handlebars are no longer straight - and ergonomically friendly. That means another bike swap.
Theodore Boosalis, thanks for your reply. I asked and got some credit for all the trouble, and I haven’t cancelled the bike yet, but definitely don’t have a good feeling about Peloton anymore. I am on a wait list for a concept 2 erg bike , and still looking around, Another option is a sunny bike.

Also, all the fuss and talk about Peloton, with owners raving about it like a miracle super bike, well, all of it in a way reminds me of MLMs companies such as LuLaRoe.
And I honestly am having a hard time trusting this company will stay strong, it feels really messed up from how they are handling delivery schedule.
@@vvcc1450 It is messed up. I've asked that my account's issues get moved "upstairs" as a discussion point about what needs to improve. Even if you discount the delivery times on an order right now - the bike doesn't hold up to the volume I've given it - since I've burned through 6 bikes. It's a great idea and brand - but yeah I think 2021 is going to be a choppy year for them if they can't get all of these issues reduced to a bare minimum. Since you were going to spend some serious money - take a look at the Keiser latest M3 or Stages SB: stagescycling.com/us/stagesbike/
I will be looking at getting that bike later this year - once my Peloton warranty runs out (finally) and no more bike swaps can occur.

Great information! But Echelon Connect Sport is £800 in the U.K.! The other brands in that price range don't seem to be available at all in the U.K. I wonder if anyone can recommend a source for comparable reviews for brands that are available in the U.K.?
The left pedal of my IC4 came completely off. My new crank arriving on Friday and I bought new pedals. Apparently the issue is the left pedal is slightly than it should be and strips the threading of the crank.
Would you by chance have a "Best" Screenless Spin Bike list? Exploring options on avoiding getting locked into one platform or the other (iFit vs. Peloton) so maybe BYOD to use either or (tablet stand, etc.) Also -any chance on reviewing the Bowflex C6, Pro-Form Carbon CX, Pro-Form Studio Bike Pro, or the "new" Pro-Form Studio Bike Pro 22? Hi! Absolutely love your videos! After watching your videos I really want to buy the echelon connect, however here in the UK amazon doesn’t sell it, and it comes to around £900 ($1254) when bought from the echelon website/other shops. Would you say it’s still worth it for this price? Wish Walmart did worldwide shipping 😫 the peloton plus is £2295 ($3199) here so seems everything is more expensive. Do you think it’s okay to get the echelon for this price point as of course the main benefit was the price?

Random question - I want to buy the echelon sport connect in the UK but hear it has a 7kg flywheel which seems like it wouldn’t provide much resistance. Did you have any problem with max resistance on yours? Do you know if yours is also 7kg? I hear the Walmart version has a heavier flywheel and now I am just confused 😂

Academy Sports has a ProForm Tour De France CTC Studio Bike for $799. It looks very similar to the Costco ProForm bike but it has 22 digital resistance levels, an attached 10" touch screen, built-in cooling fan, and 3lbs. dumbbells. Considering your thoughts on the Costco bike, what do you think of this one with those additional features for that price? Thanks.

Have you had a chance to try the Pro-Form Carbon CX? $599 w/ a year of access to iFit. Seems like a fairly good deal.
When I had a Peloton I was disappointed at the leaderboard (a lot of cheaters) and the exorbitant subscription cost, but found the classes and instructors excellent.

Hey there.. I posted a comment on a peloton FB page and someone shared this video. So I own a mid range sunny bike($500 or so) has the monitor for time, speed cadence, but missing the resistance unfortunately. But I was just curious.. I hear you mention the height a couple times but my problem is that I'm 6'6 and at times feel like even with the seat all three way up that's not enough.
I liked the sound of that first bike, the Shwinn. But I wanted to ask, so do all of those bikes have even shorter seat heights than even the sunny does?

I purchased a Joroto that had the RPM/distance display (XM16). It lasted 4 rides before the pedals stripped out and could not be repaired.

I've very out of shape and not skinny. I just started walking and a friend is giving me a recumbent bike that she came across (haven't tried it yet) but I'm confused with the 'regular' indoor bikes that are upright - regular or spinning or are they the same?! is there any benefit for a beginner to have a recumbent and a spinning bike? just watching you standing up peddling exhausts me LOL! I was looking at a $300 yosuda on amazon but you were talking about the important metrics being power, cadence - and I was thinking miles would be good as I'm doing some 'medal' races that go by miles LOL!

I’m 6’4” and weigh 210 and my echelon connect sport is comfortable at 1 notch below the max. The echelon app has improved a lot in the last few months as well and the live runs are a blast! Hope this helps

Joroto X2 is definitely one the best DIY option with magnetic under 600. I got the bike for abt 400, a Wahoo Cadence for 39, Peloton App for 13. Sunny mat for 99.

I’m looking to buy a bike and have been watching your videos to help me decided. They are very helpful! What are your thoughts about friction vs. magnetic resistance? I used to take Spinning classes at the gym and those bikes were friction resistance (Spinning Star Trac bikes). But those bikes are too expensive. I have been researching about bikes a lot. I have never used a magnetic resistance bike and am weary of them because I read that they feel different. Such as a flat road is not resistance free and that max resistance is not as much as friction bikes. But then there is the “quiet factor” that makes magnetic bikes appealing. I was thinking of getting the Sunny SF-B1002 because of the price, but reviews often mention it’s not great of you are short (which I am - 5’3”) and handlebars are not 4-way adjustable. So now I am looking at the $600 Schwinn IC3 and Sunny SF-B1805. One is magnetic and one is friction. Do you have any thoughts? Any input would be helpful. Thank you!
Magnetic resistance is great, better feel. I want to get a sunny magnetic bike like the 1805 or synergy, only downside is price and max resistance on some bikes. Hope this helps, I have more on the sunny on my channel

I really liked the video. Just want to know which of these bikes do you recommend. I'm 6 feet tall, i want o track cadence and such and I anticipate using the peloton app on my tablet. I can't afford the peloton, that's why I'm exploring other options. Thanks

If the left pedal comes loose that is because in manufacture they screwed-up. that was supposed to be cut 'reverse thread' I had this problem with a cheap cycle I had about 15 yrs ago.

That's a really tough call, it's really a question between physical or magnetic resistance and how much max resistance you need, and also adjustability on handlebars coming forward and backwards...
Great video, wish you could have included the STRYDE bike. Just got one and love it. Tablet is totally unlocked, so you can run Peloton digital for $12/month while using the cadence and resistance meter of the STRYDE application.

@@TailHappyTV based on the Peloton videos the resistance is definitely on par so I would guess the energy output displayed is similar if not the same as on the Peloton and pretty accurate. 20 resistance on the Stryde feels like a flat road, and I definitely need 35-40 resistance for position 3 like the Peloton classes say to lift. The cadence is measured well so I think the energy output in kJ should match up between bikes and be accurate, hope this answers your question!
@@TailHappyTV sorry just noticed the Stryde as well as displaying total energy in kJ does also display energy/time (power in watts). Again, seems accurate to me!

Great alternatives to the Peloton. Why is it such a big thing to be able to slide the handles forward and back ? Even the bike I used at the gym didn't have that feature. Doesn't being able to slide the seat forward and back take care of that ? Thanks again for the videos ? Looks like you need a bigger apartment :)
In some ways it does, but ultimately it's "proper" to be able to move the seat to the exact correct position to align your knees with the pedals correctly, then independently move the handlebars to a comfortable position. Thanks Bill, figuring out the space thing lol
