with running this lift and tire set up do you rub at all lock to lock? if so whats needed to be trimmed, do you need to run a 2inch wheel spacer or will a 1.5 work? looking to lift my truck soon just trying to collect info anywhere I can thanks
I rub at full lock both sides, but that is strictly from my spacers. You don’t have to run any spacers at all with these wheels, if you choose not to run them you will hardly rub at all. I run them purely for ascetics. If you choose to run them I would go with at least 1.75” spacers, anything smaller you will have to cut your lugs.
@@Scottie_70 I had the 4in lift installed on my 15 canyon and also had bad steering wheel feedback on highway, and mainly while turning. The fix for me was using a buddies Hunter alignment machine to program my electronic steering rack to zero position to account for the new wheels and tires/the changed geometry of vehicle. It put my canyon back to its factory ride. I had taken it to my GMC dealership's service dept who advised me that they reset the steering rack, taking them on their word I figured that's just how these trucks handle the lift/bigger wheels and tires, glad I used a hunter machine. Hope this helps other's who are experiencing that terrible steering wheel shake.
What are the numbers for your wheel and tire package? I have a 2018 and I'm fixn do the same thing to mine. Just don't know how big of a tire I can put on without rubbing.
i have a 16 trail boss also and i like the wheels....i would like a lift but again am happy with the wheels i have.....i also wonder about those blackouts
I love the rough country lift kit for this truck. Yeah you could get the bds one but it’s way to expensive. This kit is only about $1000, you can’t beat that. And yes I am planning on adding new adjustable coil overs because the rc kit only came with extensions for the originals front coils. I am hoping to get about 2-3 more inches of lift from the new struts
Hey can u make a vid and in the description put links to everything that you’ve bought so people like me can just click on it and get to the site faster pls?
The rub slightly at full lock and that’s only when I’m going up an incline at an angle, I also had to do some moderate plastic trimming. Keep in mind this was after adding the 2”’spacers without those the tires won’t rub with very minor trimming.
@@northernlifts5564 thanks for the reply I'm going to be doing this kit pretty soon but there are still a few concerns that I have with the kit. Rough country reccomend on website to pair with 285/65 r18 with 0 offset and 5 inch backspacing. But when I downloaded the instructions it only says that you can only fit a 275 and I really dont wanna do that. Do you think if I use the 18x9 wheel with 0 offset do you think they will rub still. I already plan on buying the fender liner relocation kit for the front
@AtomicToastCat, if you do a wheel with 0 offset you are gonna have many more options when it comes to tire size. From what I have seen on my truck and others with that offset I wouldn’t go much bigger than 33” tall and 11.5” wide. I’m not sure what that is in a metric size for an 18” wheel but you can find a converter online. Also I’ve never seen a fender liner relocation kit in person however in my opinion for this purpose it is not needed. You can do the trimming behind the liner on your own and still make it look good. But if the kit is cheap then yeah I would do it. You can find plenty of videos of people trimming their liners on their 1500’s and it is very similar for a Canyon/Colorado.
I put about 15k miles on the truck with the kit before I sold it. But no, I’m the time I had it I had no issues. My only complaint was it rode a little rough but that’s gonna be any lift kit in that price range. I thought it was a great kit for the money and it was fun installing it.
No steering wheel vibration, just don’t expect it to ride as smooth as stock did. It feels more like a heavy dusty truck in that it’s not very smooth over bumps
Honestly not sure, the instructions for the lift called for them to be that way. I would agree most other lifts have them the other way. I think it just depends on the shock.
@@northernlifts5564 crazy lol sorry for the long wait on the reply but yeah I put mine on the normal way I didn’t even notice hahah but I found the pdf file on how to install them and there supposed to be upside down oh well 🤣
Thanks for the video. Nice truck, man! I'm getting the same 4" kit on my 2016 Colorado in 2 days and I'm super excited about it!!
This video was posted 4 years ago, how do you feel about now? if you still have the truck, thanks in advance.
do you get any steering wheel wobble after that lift?
I got the 6in RC kit. The only thing lacking is bumpstop extensions.
Hey does ur truck hold the wheel alignment for long or does it get out if alignment quick?
Looks great bro. What size wheels and tires are you running?

Question what did you have to do as far as the drive shaft is concerned anything to the exhaust??
Some people have said once you put bigger tires and a lift kit on the steering wheel vibrates. Have you noticed any vibration in the steering wheel?
i have the 4" lift in my colorado and have the annoying steering wheel wobble that drives me crazy

With that 4 inch lift kit what the biggest tire size you can put on that

I have the RC 6” on my 2016 Canyon. The 4” and 6” are the same price. What kind of bullbar do you have installed on the front grille?
It’s just a basic Rough Country bull bar. I think it’s a universal fit so it will go on most trucks. It’s about $250 I think.
Okay Thanks. Overall, I think your truck looks cool.
how is your front dif alignment after the lift, can you get a small video ? cause mine isnt straight at all
what brad your front bumper and size of the tire and rims
look cool
Looks good. What brand are the fender flares ?
Rough country as well
I just bought the 6" RC when with 6 over 4 because they were the same price... why not lol Let me ask you this, what cutting did you have to do ?
If I remember correctly the only cutting I had to do was on the factory cross members, but they provide templates so you know exactly where to cut.
where did you get your taillights and headlights
Love the look. What tail lights are those? I have the trail boss 2016 Colorado and want to black out my tail lights.

There’s a link to them you may be able to look around and find them cheaper somewhere else.

Northern Lifts thanks for the response back. Bds makes a 4” lift? I’ve only seen there 5.5” lift. Hope to see more videos on your truck
michael valdez they only make the 5.5. I think he was saying that’s what he could’ve got.
Did you have to trim anything with the wheel and tire set up
yes he did
Is the rear stiffer/bouncier with the blocks?
Cool looking truck love the lift on it did your mpg change dramatically because of the lift and tires ?
I have the same question ^ ? Greatly appreciate the answer please & thank you
Same question mpg?
@@ricxander85 he said "After the lift about 15 mpg in the city. On the high way it’s actually not bad I get about 21-24 mpg on the highway."

What’s your mpg looking like after the lift ?
After the lift about 15 mpg in the city. On the high way it’s actually not bad I get about 21-24 mpg on the highway.
What size tires and wheels?
20x9 fuel grenades with +18 offset, but I have 2 inch spacers and 285/55r20 Nitto ridge grapplers. They are about 32.5” tall and 11.5” wide

What size tires, and wheels.
When you dropping a new video with the lights on?
What offset do you have on those rims
How much they cost for everything?🤔
Lift was about $1000 and the wheels and tires were about $2000, so about $3000 total for the wheels, tires, and lift
Was the install hard to do?
Not too difficult, I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have some sort of decent lift.
I know it is cheap for a 4 inch lift but blocks in rear are bad, nice truck.
What size tires you have one bro?
Jose Hernandez 285/55/r20
Northern Lifts thank you!
How big of tires do you think you can fit with a 4” lift? Thinking of lifting my Colorado
Depends on your wheel offset, do you happen to know it?
285 I think
is it level with just the lift kit?
what size tires and wheels did you go with?
