I am glad that you touched on the M4 naming convention. Dare I say, "Complicated time..., I mean naming scheme.".

I'd honestly allow for a "complicated time line" comment on Poco 😅

13MP is no issue if the alternative is an equally small 50MP budget sensor that will still be pixel binned down to 12.5MP, and still has soft and often noisy output. We have the Redmi Note 11 with the same 50MP as the Indian Poco M4, and I'm rather disappointed with it, and wish I'd just sprung for new old stock of the 108MP Note 10 Pro, which was roughly the same price.
Hear hear on useless cameras. Is rather have one fantastic 20mm camera than a decent 23mm, a crappy 18mm and a depth sensor that creates worse fake bokeh than an algorithmic AI.

Also, great review. Why are these budget / bargain phones sooooooo attractive? Because I'd be terrified to carry around a $1,000 + cell phone around with me. And as a 45-year-old dad, who's kids always want my phone to watch videos, the battery life these budget phones offere is so enticing and really is a fantastic feature. Also, with the kids handling it, if they drop it, I won't necessarily feel like take a child's life. Seriously tho, I cannot believe what you can get for under $200 these days. Honestly, Juan, I enjoy these budget device reviews MUCH more than I do the high end phones that realistcally, even though I can afford them, and really do think what they can do is a modern marvel, I would never buy one. The Pixel 6a price point that we were chatting about a few days ago is my limit. About a year ago, T-Mobile was doing a promo with the One Plus N200 5g, where you only needed to trade in ANY working smart phone, ANY, and they would give you a N200 5g for free 99. Well, after bill credits for 2 years, but basically free. My wife had just destroyed her LG G8 (dropping it out of a moving vehicle while taking pics) and my Google Pixel 2XL was 3 years old. I traded in two LG pre paid smart phones that I bought from Best Buy for $19.99 that my girls were using as tablets until Android support stopped. That phone, does EVERYTHING that I need. Not extremely well, but well enough. Still prefer my 2XL though, but it is a FANTASTIC back up phone with a all important 90zh display (chuckle-chuckle) and a 5000ma battery. For $200 doll hairs, the N200 is a great phone. Just like this one here. Keep these coming, brother!

@@Big_Black_Dick I keep seeing those buy one, get one free deals, that maybe, one day, I'll jump on. I just picked up two Pixel 6a phones for myself and my wife. Google was doing a trade in promo where I got $300 for my old iPhone 7 - 128 gb (EACH), so I got both Pixel phones for $300, plus I got two free PIxel buds and $30 back in rewards for using the Google card. I could not pass that deal up for $270 bucks. I'm sure I would LOVE the S22 ultra. My buddy at work has one and the screen is just crazy amazing.

It's not free if you have to pay 24 months of overpriced T-Mobile.
Buy an unlocked g8x or v60, even the velvet is under $120 for TMO. Much better specs then the nord

I've been curious if you were going to check out some inexpensive phones. I think you'd be shocked by "BLU" (Bold Like Us) phones which are solid contenders for backup emergency phones. Obviously there are different models

Juan can you make a video about 5g vs lte? I feel like 5g is just marketing and lte is still more stable. Thank you.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

I covered it a little more in the podcast years ago. I completely understand those feels. So far for me, the "exciting" new tech isn't speed, but better radio management. More people can connect to a single tower. Otherwise, at least in the USA, 5G seems to be used as a way for carriers to lock customers in more on their network.

My biggest issue with MIUI is that while using gesture navigation, the keyboard doesn't natively raise to give a more comfortable typing experience. Overall though it is a pretty solid experience and the UI is quite smooth.

People spending $1000 on a phone when entry phones are $300 to $400 with 2 year old flagship power and then Samsung and Apple wonder why their flagships barely sell or nobody wants to upgrade

2 things i dislike about the device-
    1. back branding
    2. no in-display fingerprint scanner (which i believe is the best method of unlocking)
