Glad to see another video on your project Aerostar. Take your time, don’t get in a hurry. Great to see your significant other helping you, don’t burn her out.

I had to take some time off from the plane in the summer to do "summer things" :)

Absolutely beautiful! How little upgrades can change an aircraft exceptionally well!

In real time I'm rebuilding the fuel transfer system...that's the last major barrier to engine start!

My friend, you are in for a long battle. FYI…don’t place anything on your flight control surfaces ever. They are not tables!
We removed our curtains in our Crusader. Just keep the shade inserts handy in case pax need some shade

I’ll second your comment about the plugs. I used to put the rope behind the prop because it looked neater but one day after engine start a DC3 taxiing past called on the radio to tell me I still had the plugs in.
So that’s why all those “idiots” put it in the wrong way. I never did that again.
But to add to the story, I was at Nantucket on the beach when weather started to roll in so we decided to leave. But being 30 years ago we pilots all had to wait in line at the FBO to call Flight Service to file and get a briefing. By the time it was my turn the weather really was deteriorating so I dashed back to the airplane, fired it up and called for clearance all in a rush.
    NEVER RUSH ANYTHING IN AVIATION!!

Dude has no idea what he’s in for on that plane. Aerostars are maintenance nightmares. I’d be going through the hydraulics, engines, and landing gear way before I was concerned about cowl plugs.

You might not be wrong but I sure hope the two Aerostar-experienced A&Ps I'm working with know what we are in for lol. There are three hydraulic leaks and all the hoses need to be replaced. All the fuel hoses have been removed and replacements are on the way. These were purchased during the yearly Oshkosh sale hence the timing...

Aerostars are NOT maintenance nightmares at all, unless you let some inexperienced mechanic work on them. They do not require any additional Mx then any other aircraft, however they are special and so it is imperative to use an experienced Aerostar guru.

I just subscribed after watching this. I'll go back and start from the beginning. Is that ASH?

Where do I find the curtain clips on Vintage Trailer Supply? We would like to replace all of ours as well 1976 - 601P. I found the website but could not find the exact clip with the snap. Love the updates. Thanks,

It's SKU VTS-354. It doesn't come with the snaps, you'll need to buy those separate and after cutting the elastic to length, press in the snap. Easy to do, but I recommend buying name brand snaps and not knockoffs on Amazon.

hahahah...fair point! I guess I shouldn't have cut the part where it's mentioned that she's testing her weight on the cables?
