Their relationship was like any other on the corners of our planet. They fought, conquered and sold each other as slaves to the European traders until it was abolished when they all became a protectorate of the British Empire.
The Fantes sold us out! They exchanged that for subservience to the Brits. They gained in missionary schools that only ended up brainwashing the African elites.

The original people of Britain are today's Black Americans. Black Americans are the original Europeans. But they weren't called"Black Americans" at that time. Black Americans Built Europe. Just like Black Americans built America. Simple
They were gold merchants. South, Central and Western Africans got into the gold trade South of Egypt and Northern Sudan and Eastern Ethiopia only thru trade with Islamic merchants or conversion to Islam. There was no African gold or silver trade or industry outside of Abysinnia or Egypt or MoroccanBerber.
It's actually the Asante Kingdom since the colonists called us "Ashanti". The Asante warrior commander for the war discussed in this video was Nana Amanketia. There is an old song that celebrates his victory and valor.
It would be a mistake especially for African Americans to view the story in terms of Black and White. The Ashanti had become wealthy powerful and well-armed from facilitating the transatlantic slave trade. And yes just like German civilians in the Nazi period knew what was happening to their Jewish neighbors, the Ashanti knew exactly what was happening to the other Africans they were selling into slavery. This is a reason why African Americans should never ever wear kente cloth. The British governor they defeated was anti slavery and the Ashanti king was pro slavery. Africa is not one place it is different nations peoples cultures and languages just like Europe and Asia. Europeans enslaved each other. The same is true for Africa. The Ashanti fought British soldiers with guns they bought with wealth made from the transatlantic slave trade.
@Infamousmade Nothing you wrote refutes the facts my point . The Ashanti fought the British to defend their own interests, including the wealth the Ashanti Kings gained from the transatlantic slave trade. These are facts. Our modern POV of African Diaspora did not exist at that time.
@@marcp6405 where did you get your so called facts from ? From the white man i guess. According to African history Asante people interest was to prevent the white people from entering the coast to get on the land.but because the Asantes are not based around the coast but rather inland ,the whites where able to deceive the coastal people and get on land. This is over a period of almost 400 years history. Danish, Portugese, Dutch, and British all came to the Gold Coast during this period, it is the British that stayed till the independence. Initially the whites pretended that their interest was only the gold, the bible, and alcohol, trading, later when Europe needed workers for their plantations and countries to build it up , thats wen they started kidnapping Africans. That is how they started slave trade
The Ashanti fought the war to maintain ther sovereignty per the treaty they signed with Joseph Dupuis in 1820. The Ashanti were into slavery whiles the British weren't anymore. However, when the British proclaimed they won't buy slaves anymore, the Ashanti understood as its economy wasn't dependent on the Atlantic Slave Trade. Asantehene Osei Bonsu even signed a treaty in 1820 with recognition to this proclamation. However, the treaty ensured that Ashanti's jurisdiction over the coast would be honored. Unfortunately, the British failed to respect the treaty causing a breakdown to the war.
"This is why African Ameriacans should never ever wear Kente cloth." This is a bad example. Kente was simply a cloth that was worn by everyone from babies to leaders. Kente was worn by people who didn't engage in the slave trade. It was also worn by people who were even sold as slaves themselves. Your take on Kente is so vague. It's like saying African Americans should stop speaking English because the British took part on the Atlantic Slave Trade.
Was that from the pre-colonial or colonial Era? So why would he feature that on this channel. In any case, the Belgians, French, and other Europeans are still culpable for what led to and caused the Civil War in Rwanda.
Yeah I was right the CEO of RUclips is not white 😂😂 nah RUclips isn't a "white man platform" 😂😂 that sounds so elementary you whites aren't even as intelligent you claim to be 😂😂
A civil war ensued between the sellouts and the patriots. Ashanti lands were the last to behold European missionary schools because they never trusted the Europeans.

Did the Egyptians not make the sphinx?
The British eventually won that war, the boere defeated the British and Zulu too... 😂😂😂
No they didn't how did the British win the war? Ghana gain independence like a year after the British won
The Mole Dagbon kingdom under Yaa Naa andani Nanigoe defeated Germans in the battle of Adiboo,He beat them to out of Ghana,He is the main cause German deserted their western Togo land colony.
After his death
Two years later the sons of the king fought due to the namship of the overlord-so one of them went to Togo a town called sansanmongo” the son went and told them that the king who defeated them passed years ago and He need the Germans help to come and help defeat some of his sons so that he can be made king and gave Germans the chance to make Yendi their capital.
They planned the attacked on the funeral performance day of one of the wives of the king that first defeated them.
They attacked and succeeded and made the informer the king.
Blackman kills Blackman.
But later they were wars they made them leave Dagbon for good.
They are remains of their tombs and so on in Yendi.
So the Fante asked for the British to come in and protect them? 🤔 I wonder what kind of relationship they had before this.
Their relationship was like any other on the corners of our planet. They fought, conquered and sold each other as slaves to the European traders until it was abolished when they all became a protectorate of the British Empire.
@@Kojoisfit the animosity between fanti and Ashanti was instigated by the Europeans! The orchestrated all this through division and conquest!
The Fantes sold us out! They exchanged that for subservience to the Brits. They gained in missionary schools that only ended up brainwashing the African elites.
@@Kojoisfit Stop lying. Remember the battle of Kromanti by the Fanti where the junior royal son was convinced by the Dutch militia. All the strong war prisoners were rounded up by the Dutch as slaves. The British took sides in tribal wars to acquire strong prisoners of war as slaves. The weaker kingdoms were just glad their enemies were gone. European Militias didn’t buy anybody. They raided and took sides in local wars to acquire slaves. Again Europeans had nothing wealth exchange ( note: this was before the industrial Revolution)! The European currencies: Sterling pound,Deutschmark,Guilders, peso, Kronor, Franc & dollar were of no use to Africans. Again Africans had all the gold!
Right Wingers are embarrassed by events they weren’t alive to worry about! Just the shame that our ancestors were pirates, uninvited invaders that they preach about nowadays!
I think the first victory by native Africans over foreign invaders was when the Chita Hulu landed on earth and that African warrior cut off their leader's whatever. Check out Credo Mutwa
I love the channel but.. I do wish that it focused less on colonization and conflict with Europeans. I come to this channel for lessons on our ancestors accomplishments and history. Being reminded of thier slaughter is a bit depressing.
If you choose to stay in the dark, then you're truly lost
Technically this is an accomplishment, given the clear technological disadvantage the Ashanti had during the skirmish. It's hard to avoid conflict with Europeans, as those interactions are the most well recorded.
@@thevisitor1012 Europeans Ah Yes, im sure the Ashanti had many conflicts with their main ally, the Netherlands, or lets just say they made a fortune from the slave trade

Hidden Figures
😉
These were Moslems!
Just like the British were fighting the Sudanese Moslems in "Four Feathers" in the same Century.
They weren’t Muslims
They were gold merchants. South, Central and Western Africans got into the gold trade South of Egypt and Northern Sudan and Eastern Ethiopia only thru trade with Islamic merchants or conversion to Islam.
There was no African gold or silver trade or industry outside of Abysinnia or Egypt or MoroccanBerber.

It's actually the Asante Kingdom since the colonists called us "Ashanti". The Asante warrior commander for the war discussed in this video was Nana Amanketia. There is an old song that celebrates his victory and valor.
Amankwatia the chief of Bantama .. my direct ancestor ..

Go and read ur history again
Ashanti’s fought the British because they fear colonization and imperialism!
Go away with ur lies!!
"This is why African Ameriacans should never ever wear Kente cloth."
This is a bad example.
Where's the goblet?
Now tell us about the stunning and brave Hutu and Tutsi behaviour in the Rwandan civil war or have you memory holed that one … 🤔
Was that from the pre-colonial or colonial Era? So why would he feature that on this channel. In any case, the Belgians, French, and other Europeans are still culpable for what led to and caused the Civil War in Rwanda.

A civil war ensued between the sellouts and the patriots. Ashanti lands were the last to behold European missionary schools because they never trusted the Europeans.
