Any Colonel/officer could easily spin this as a win for investigating/finding corruption on his base and add it as a win for his career not an embarrassment where Reachers team needs to be punished. if you read Richard Marcinko's books on his Red Cell Team, he says the naval commanders he embarassed were more interested in disbanding his team and going after him than in what he had to report.
Like alertgasper said, the Navy commanders that were embarrassed by Marcinko's red cell didn't seem to act accordingly. And to me knowledge, CID reports to the Department of the Army HQ. No Army commands or units have authority over them, so I'm not really sure if a Colonel or base commander can make such a claim that he discovered corruption on his base.
They disobeyed direct orders to expose a military conspiracy that the higher ups were complicit in, hence the lack of resource and all of them being discharged from the military for this.
I must say the fight scenes are a lot more realistic, showcasing the true hurdles one has to go through while dealing with such events! Doesn't look that impractical too!
