Once it gets to the point of academia, Intellectual Property has an obviously detrimental effect of gatekeeping information from the public. "Getting papers published" is a proprietorship and nothing more. I sympathize with the cases presented in the original video but highly question how stronger enforcement on plagiarism won't be be turned against the less privileged. People have brand new ways to detect plagiarism, and parties like that lady who was fired from her university position recently profited for many many years while students were hyper-scrutinized for it. How do we have a world where that doesn't happen, but also people aren't just ripping each other off and sniping the success of innovation?

He was pretty clear at the end of his video about how any attempt by RUclips to crack down on plagiarism could very easily lead to abuse. I don’t have the answers either. At the end of the day, I agree with IP abolition. That said, there is a difference between transforming someone else’s ideas and blatantly stealing their exact words (and footage in the case of iilluminaughtii).
