I'll tell you, finding the eggs in Alien: Isolation creeped me the FUCK out. The game kept saying it would only have one alien. It managed to deceive the audience *without* making the game disappointing, because you're facing this unstoppable killing machine the entire game. The twist where there's an entire hive is TERRIFYING, because at that point you know how hard it is to face off against even just one.
Justin Ferrell in a deleted scene from Alien, it shows that there was no queen but instead the Xenomorph was able to replicate itself and make its own hive. Without the need of any queen. So there wasn't any queen on Sevastopol station but the game confirmed the deleted scene from Alien which shows that the species strives on continuing the bloodline. And the first Xeno on the station PROBABLY would have at some point evolved into a Queen or made a host into an egg to then MAKE a queen. Which in of itself is terrifying, knowing that if you can't stop a threat fast enough, it will make more, really pressuring you to get better quicker with your tactics.
Yeah but in fact it's too late after the infection, you'll die afterwards. So it's logical that the game ends after you got hit by a facehugger. You'll die a few hours or days later.
I was just about to say this, Alien Resurrection (2001) fucking nailed the mechanics of you waking up and slowly dying. Alien vs Predator (2010) nailed the animation where the Facehugger exits the egg, it looks natural somehow. I think Alien Isolation really captured the fear of not wanting one of those things to jump you.
But death is inevitable anyways. Also, in both AVP and Alien Isolation time was of the essence so you’d probably die during the time that you’re unconscious.
Dude, that's actually pretty sick how instead of just dying you wait a little while in Alien Resurrection before the alien actually bursts out of you, is there even any way to stop it from coming out or is it just like a countdown before your end?
I guarantee you Geiger and Rambaldi both shoot rope to this shit. You think it's an accident that these look like two hands sewn onto a cock and balls?
0:48 That was pure horror when I first played it. The motion tracker sounds, the darkness, the cricket sounds of the facehugger and unforgiving instadeath with a terrible shriek.
Alien: Colonial Marines was the WORST game in the entire Alien Franchise. It was such an embarrassement for them. Most people got refunded and the company also got sued.
There's an Aliens total conversion mod for Killing Floor, that features Chestbursters capable of killing you after you're impregnated. The first time it happened to me was when a Facehugger was bull-riding on my face, and my teammates took their time killing it. So after it was shot with a shotgun, we went down to the trader, and I began losing health by tens before hearing a loud, juicy crunch and watching a Chestburster spring out of my rib cage. Fun times.
Fun fact about the sound the facehugger makes when it pounces you in AVP 1999. Not just the fact that it's lifted directly/bootlegged from the original Alien movie, if you listen to it, you'll hear a hissing sound at the very end. That's the sound of oxygen escaping out of the hole it burned right through Kane's helmet. The attention of detail that they put into the sound for its time is amazing!
No. They'll wrap their tail around your throat and suffocate you until you open your mouth out of reflex, then the ovipositor will slip into your throat.
Yeah, it would be awesome. But unless Isolation introduced a mechanic where you can extract the xeno from your body, it's just wasting more seconds until the death.
That is the actually the same voice actor yep. Also Tomiko the girl that helps the marine is voiced by Cortonna so basically both actors played people in space lol.

SS13's colonial marines server is also pretty good on this. You can get face-hugged and, eventually, you spawn a chest-burster. Happens to me literally every single time i go marine.
I am glad that at least one person had the sense to employ the best pro strat against these face huggers that should be guaranteed to work. Putting your hand in front of your face. It never made sense to be how in the films they show these facehuggers to still be able to somehow be able to push against someone who has gotten hold of them. Once you have got one in your hands it cannot move.
I like the mechanic in alien resurrection, where after the facehugger gets you, the game still lets you play for a while, then you get a Mortal Kombat ending
Darth Cerebus You were bothered by that? I had no issue but I believe there are options on PC in which you could disable to radar. Wouldn’t recommend it if you’re playing multiplayer though.
The alien resurrection is the best in my opinion, and if I remember correctly, if you had injection or go to a med bay on a wall fast enough you can remove the alien and live. Its been so long since I played it but im sure there was a way to extract the alien!
I have AVP 3. It was one of the best games I've ever played. The Alien campaign actually made me feel like I was an Alien. PLus the Predator campaign was just awesome. Just imagine and open world Predator game where you hunt on different planets, making a name for yourself as a Hunter, and some story I haven't put much thought into because open world Predator!
I can see why they don't go for that approach though. You're effectively dead once a Facehugger impregnates you, so there's no real point in letting you wander around for a few seconds or minutes before being killed. It'd be a shock to people who somehow don't know about Facehuggers before playing, for everyone else, it's just a dragged out death scene.
I think it could work if it was done well enough, maybe the more realistic animation would happen the first time one of them latches onto you, and then it'd be the usual "instant game over, man" afterwards.
Actually, you can save yourself by using a "Portable Autodoc Unit" in the game to remove the cherstbuster from your body if you got impregnated by a facehugger. Those are very rare, though.
No joke when I originally played AVP 2010 when I was 8 I was always so scared to play the Marine Campaign all because of the facehuggers freaked me out more than anything in the game lmao

Healing was a means of 'clawing' at dead bodies, at the risk of destroying a helpless host for other Facehugger players. If you reached a certain kill threshhold (if enabled), you would turn in to a Queen alien which lasted until death. This gave enhanced strength and speed, but could not pounce, wallrun, or access small or tight spaces. It was definitely a true AvP experience.
Oh right, forgot to mention Praetorians. I do not know if they could be bred from other players. I think it was one of those species you could only play if Life Cycle was disabled.
Forget which AVP game it was where you played the three stories; Marine, Alien and Yautja. By far, playing as the Alien during the facehugger cycle was way more interesting than most FPS games out on the market at the time. Seeing that you could be instantly one-shotted if you went down the wrong hallway to face an alert guard who killed you with his gun.
I'm glad that one game actually showed what the facehugger does because it does not kill you it impregnates you with an alien offspring that bursts from your chest
If you combine the quick time event of trying to get the face hugger off with the delayed death from Alien Resurrection, if you failed to get it off, then you’d have a perfect mini game.
I'll tell you, finding the eggs in Alien: Isolation creeped me the FUCK out. The game kept saying it would only have one alien. 1:55 Sergeant Johnson?
Is that you?
Forget which AVP game it was where you played the three stories; Marine, Alien and Yautja. By far, playing as the Alien during the facehugger cycle was way more interesting than most FPS games out on the market at the time. Seeing that you could be instantly one-shotted if you went down the wrong hallway to face an alert guard who killed you with his gun.
That's AVP 2
Could u imagine this with a vr headset on
I'm glad that one game actually showed what the facehugger does because it does not kill you it impregnates you with an alien offspring that bursts from your chest
I don't think they ever got it to look quite right.
Facehuggers, Headcrabs, and Metroids freak me out.
2:10 fakehugger: go to sexy
If you combine the quick time event of trying to get the face hugger off with the delayed death from Alien Resurrection, if you failed to get it off, then you’d have a perfect mini game.
0:39 saddest death
Alien Resurrection was one of the best in my opinion because you actually woke up and got the chestburster popping out of your chest.
