Apologies for Canoe Cat this week. Gravity got the best of Casey's camera cable and it popped out real quick like...

Canoe Cat returns! oops...
Can we name him “Catsey”?
Know anyone willing to sculpt an STL. And two cameras for the beginning of the episode.
It's true that the Spearhead rules and warscroll cards are all free. However, the battle tactic cards and twist cards, that basically make it a functional game, are locked into various boxed sets, as far as I can tell. The cards are what make it Spearhead. So Goober-T is right to be cautious about the "free" rules.
you would figure a company the size of GW could get away with free rules that are well maintained. It's not like the profity margin comes from the printed material (which also costs considerably less when being made available digitally)
@@MrZauberelefant Yeah. They could have released digital versions of the Spearhead cards. But locking them in a box is what the corporate suites mandated I guess
14:40 I build the basic Stormcast troops from Dominion and Skaventide last week and both have the same kind of multiple build options (2/5 do in both cases). So not that's not new. However, I agree that they have perfected the build quality and mold line situation even further. I think the new poses are better too. Very impressive to see what they can do nowadays.
The warcry warbands aren't able to be used in AoS 4.0 but they can be used in Warcry.
they can be used, almost all of them. specially the ones from warcry 2 onwards
I think the Jade and Fire set shows that GW does have long term plans for Spearhead. They already release Combat Patrol updates in White Dwarf, so it isn't unprecedent. In addition, the Jade and Fire "box" makes it easy for GW to release season set like the other games (Warcry, Underworld, etc.)
Casey, GW's bad communication on the subject means you got the wrong end of the stick with Warcry. Warcry is still actively supported, it's had releases through this year, and also recently got a rules update that was well received by the community - rules and balance updates don't come through so often as to be overwhelming, like they are in games like 40k and AoS.
In addition, despite what GW said on WarCom, the original Warcry warbands are still being sold. I think they've been removed from AoS but they're still supported in Warcry and they're still being sold in the Warcry section of the web store. Because this is GW we're talking about, there's a good chance that we'll see a new edition of Warcry next year. If that happens maybe some of the old warbands will be moved to Legends, and I'll be disappointed by that as I have several of them, but even if it does then there have been a good number of other warbands released in the past 2 years that do not seem to be in danger.
It doesn't fit the narrative hate boner that hobby RUclipsrs have for GW, which is probably the weirdest relationship since they solely depend on GW for their viewership. Anyways, your comment speaks truth and I hope others see it
I also misunderstood their article on "what's leaving AOS" as to mean that they would no longer be producing the older Warbands, but that is not the case based on the Warcry section of the store like you said.
If Brent is serious about doing a paint n’ play event, allow me to suggest blood bowl as a game that’d fit perfectly!
I think the only Warcry Warbands that got the boot from AoS were the Chaos Warbands, no? Too much bloat for Slaves to Darkness. Gorger Mawpack is still in for Ogors, for example.
All of the Underworlds warbands got the boot though, if that's what you're thinking of?
I had never played a game of AoS or 40k. I finished a game of spearhead in a little over an hour. I really enjoyed it.
I want to get into Warhammer. I only play RPGs now but I love painting minis would you recommend spearhead?
Chat bravely (with guests) guys!
Have a system that works... May as well have some guests!
War Cry didn’t go anywhere. They said those specific war bands aren’t getting rules in AOS anymore. It’s unclear what the future is for warcry
Garbage Disposal Miniature Rescue
28:23 Warcry is getting a new box this week though? Some of the older chaos warbands are going oop (according to the AoS4 announcement a few months ago), unfortunately. Including one not -so-old one, but that's about it.
All the models are still totally playable and in fact, will be getting new faction passives for even the oop ones, including Bonesplitterz!
Nothing in Warcry has been squatted, it is getting new models and rules this weekend, all the rules are still available for free online, the game is still alive and well, and it is a super solid game 🤘
Just here to say I appreciate this old pod and whether you have guests or not I'm in
Just talking about guests killed Caseys video feed...
The best thing that can happen to a GW game is for GW to ignore it. The player base kept Blood Bowl going in the time before the reboot in 2016. And the editions didn't seem to change too much between 2016 and 2020, but I only started playing a couple years ago. 2024 will be my first look at an edition change as a player.
@PaintBravelyThePodcast This is Gavin from Trenchworx. Pleas lets us know of you haven't gotten your warhorses Casey 😅
As multiple people have noted, Casey's Warcry take was wrong. They didn't kill any warbands in Warcry.. They ended AoS support for the Old Warcry 1.0 bands.. They all still work fine in Warcry, but theyre all out of print (which happens in ALL GW games) so the cross game support ended.. The tales of Warcry's death are greatly exaggerated in the yt ecosystem
I volunteer as tribute/sacrifice, i promise ill behave lol
Ohhhhh noooo guests are so cursed you can’t even talk about them without the camera corrupting footage 😢😢
Looks like Kasey changed up his workout routine...
You could go back to your origins, Brent. Have a Painting Roulette event at the Con!
The purring at 28minutes. Great content. We don't need guests beyond Gordon and Snuffles, and Casey's studio wild animals. Guests might make you have to be more professional and coherent - and that's not what your audience wants
