- I decided to get the Speedlogix lightweight front bumper support for my 2020 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack 1320 as part of my weight reduction goals. When you buy one of these, all you get is the metal with no instructions, so you're left to figure it out on your own. But not anymore, I did the figuring out and show you what I had to do to install it on my Challenger. I also briefly discuss the safety implications and why it's better to at least get something like this versus outright removing the stock impact bar.

I never told you before, but thank you for your service to our country Bro! I enjoy your workshops, and racing footage!
I appreciate that and thanks for going through and watching all my vids!
Bro, I had to order a stock replacement from Dodge and it didn't come with instructions, your video saved me a lot of hours. My bumper support took a 25mph impact, the bumper was mostly fine but the support crumbled exactly like you said, folded in the middle. Luckily no tweak to the frame rails. Now to throw this on with a new demon bumper lol
That's awesome to hear it helped, and for a different reason that I didn't think about. Sucks to hear about the damage but glad it wasn't worse.
Great info... I have been enjoying watching the progress
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Great way to save some weight! What a pain though with them not providing instructions especially for that price. Also good advice with the nail polish. I barely found Hellraisin touchup paint at my local dealer. It's hard to come by
Thanks! It was another last minute idea. I wanted to get it done and the vid out and couldn't wait to get touch up paint, and living with a wife and daughter thought...hmmm. I looked it up to see if anyone else has done it and turns out it's one of those life hacks lol And they have a million colors so I'm sure there's a match for just about every car color out there.
@@Scavenger1320 haha I'll try that next time! It doesn't even matter for your color since it will be covered by a bumper
They really should include instructions with that. I agree having support between the frame rails definitely strengthens the structure. Interested to see what your final weight loss tally is.
Thanks! Me too, and hoping I run some good times on Saturday. Pressure's on!
Nice video! Even with the (deserved) hits, hah. You did a great job showing how to install it.
Thanks!
Math. Science. Physics. Whatever. LOL. Great video. Two days to go!!!!
School was a LONG time ago 😂 almost there and still lots to get done. Thanks
Dat 1320 u got is 🔥 🔥
Thanks!
Great vid, thanks for sharing. Do you have a video or have you done the rear one?
Thanks for watching! I don't have the rear support yet. Not 100% sure if I'm going to get it or not yet either though. If I do I'll definitely make a vid on it as well.
@@Scavenger1320 any idea on difficulty vs. the front one? Front doesn’t seem too bad.
Why not just build a race car? Just curious why even get the 1320 or fully loaded if you are stripping it? Could have got it tuned and cammed and a bare model 392
That's actualy an easy question. First, my car isn't fully loaded. In fact, the only options I ordered are the hood pins and the 1 dollar seats since the 1320 comes standard with only the drivers seat (even Dodge knows the value of weight reduction!) Everything else is base scat. The 1320 package is what makes it a race car. You can't get all those drag goodies the 1320 brings in with a regular scat, it's what made the 1320 the quickest N/A production car. It even comes with an NHRA membership! Even before I was stripping it down I was able to beat tuned 392s. Cam and tune also brings in all sorts of issues, not to mention you can kiss the warranty goodbye. Whereas everything I've stripped down, I can easily put back together and no one would be the wiser, other than the fact I broadcasted it in my vids 😂 Finally, most of the weight reduction I've done is free! A few lightweight replacements like this bumper support cost money, but it's still only a fraction of what a cam and tune would cost.
@@Scavenger1320 I thought when yoj got the car the seats were in it? I’m thinking about ordering a base 392 with a 6 speed but not sure what route I want to go. Does the seat delete come separate and the car still comes with the seats?
@@milaryan17 yeah, I optioned the seats back in so they were in there at delivery. I believe the only cars you can get a seat delete from the factory is with either a 1320 or Super Stock. Dodge won't let you have both the rear seat and the delete kit. So you lose out on that if you get the seat. But if you don't get the seat, you could never legally add a rear seat in. Those cars won't have seat belts back there either and the cat would be tagged for 2 passengers, or only 1 if the passenger seat is deleted too.
In theory you could also increase airflow there right? Maybe not room for a v Mount but heat exchangers sure
Yeah, it should. That's one thing I noticed when I did this is how it opened up that entire space in front of teh radiator support
Excellent video
Thanks!
Just got the front and rear Chris but mine is black…
Nice. I'm not surprised it's different though. Seems the design, material, shape, etc. is very inconsistent. I think it even used to be rounded aluminum. As long as it fits though and saves that weight. Good luck with the install if you haven't done it already!
sooo youre replacing a steel support that is designed to absorb a front impact with a cheap aluminum support with cheap welds that weighs a 1/10 of the steel one you are replacing? sounds safe lol.
The impact bars mostly just absorb lower speed impacts. The rails and inner fenders are doing most of the absorbing in higher speed impacts. There is a higher probability of more damage to the components in the front even in a minor impact but I'm ok with that risk.
Does the bumper collapse under high speed without the stock absorber?
Under high speed even the stock absorber doesn't do much. At high speeds all the crush zones in the frame rails/inner fenders is what makes a difference. Bumpers are more for low speed impacts and usually rated for 2.5 mph. Long time ago I was in a very minor accident. My Ram hit the car in front of me at probably 5mph and the car had 0 damage while the steel impact bar on my Ram was practically folded in half.
No what I’m asking is if you’re doing 130-140 does the bumper indent from the wind etc since you removed the bumper (skeleton) absorber.
@@Hellcat_1320 ah, ok, gotcha. I honestly don't know. I only get up to high speeds at the track and so far my top speed from the dragstrip is only 129. Never had any video showing the front that far down the track. From the inside I don't notice anything. I'll be doing a 1/2 mile race where I should get around 150 but that isn't happening until October.
Would you say this product is worth the money?
Only if you really want to focus on weight reduction and have a goal you're trying to hit. So for someone like me that prioritizes weight reduction, it is, although if I were to buy one again there's a much better one available now by a company called CVI that I would get instead
@@Scavenger1320 thanks I'll have to check it out.
I need me front and rear. They say I can lose about 10 pounds each
Are the ones on Mustangs aluminum already? I remember from my days in body shops that some cars had a high strength aluminum impact bar. If they're steel I'd think you would lose more than that.
@@Scavenger1320 I want to say they are made out of aluminum but they are on the heavier side I have to make sure. I do know some Buddies have made the transfer over
I wanna do this so bad but I'm not sure of what my insurance would do if someone hit me with this on
Insurance can be tricky. Every state is different and depends on the situation. Most often they probably wouldn't even know why the front support was different, if they even realized it at all. More than likely they'd just end up putting a stock one on without really knowing. Now if there's injuries involved and lawyers got involved then who knows what would happen, but those cases aren't very common.
@@Scavenger1320 agreed. My opinion is a collision shouldn't happen so it shouldn't matter what's on the car.
They wouldn’t write you back but use your vid on their website 😹😹🤦🏾♂️
What? I'm gonna have to go check that out. Thanks for letting me know!
Make sure you practice driving the car too . 😂
Sink or swim! 😂 There's a Friday TnT, but I still got so much to do before Saturday I won't have time to make it. And it might actualy be canceled by some storms anyway.
removin‘ badges in terms of weight reduction? Really?
It all adds up! But no, I've been wanting to remove the grill badges since day 1 for the cleaner look.
Basically put. Couldnt we just remove the completely delete bumper support and not spend $300 for a cheap hollow bumper support? I bet if I step on it , it would cave. Sooo couldn't we just delete it and just not hit anything? Lol. Yeah?
You could just outright remove it, and I actually bring that up and talk about it at 12:49 in this vid
@@Scavenger1320 word brother! Will be doing! Thanks for the reply! Liked and subbed!
@@Scavenger1320 also noticed the 2018 and newer challengers have a locked pcm, so tuners won't work, want to run an octane tune without spending a big bill, anything I can modify off hand that can just trick my car into running a tad leaner to support a higher octane? Maybe a larger throttle body mod?
Thanks! I appreciate that!
Advanced Fuel Dynamics makes a plug and play E-85 kit. I know a 1320 owner that installed that on his. It adapts to the fuel so he can still run regular gas if he can't find e-85. So far he hasn't had any issues with it and he said he definitely noticed an improvement
First!! Lol
I guess being in California and a few hours behind everyone else has some advantages lol
