Simple explantion of Knock is predetonation, explosions happening before they are supposed to.
Fuel self igniting befoee the spark plug gets a chance to ignite and initiate a proper flame front.
You could have done a bike engined car for hillclimbs, keep both tribes happy!

Hi, I had the same op as Karl plus a quad bypass 12 weeks ago. I joined in the effort to help him and good karma has paid me back. I am on my (slow) way to recovery, and at the age of 73, still expect to get back to single figure golf. You are all special guys, and we get free stand up from Karl occasionally.

I've always done 3 heat cycles on new engines including the Bikes. Always made the bikes powerful and never had an engine failure. 😎
Aww, Triumphs are lovely. The TT600 had fuelling issues to start with but the handling is sweet. The 675 Daytona is a belter of a bike. Love a Yammy too!

You don't need to add more different things to the channel. You have enough projects on already, in addition to work. Adding something like barn stuff will just dilute the channel too much. Your content is great, the engine building goes way over my head, but I still find it interesting and keep coming back.
I like the content, it’s serious but also fun and interesting. I have absolutely no interest in cars, one bikes, but I love the engine restoration, builds and tools as it gives me the belief I can do that in my garage!
One of your best videos to date when you ad-lib about work bikes and cars it just flows. Your advice on track days is spot on I booked my first track day at Brands Indy in 2007 while I was drunk even paid for my son to go as well. I took my then brand new zx6r (first brand new bike I had even owned) afternoon session novice group so I got 3 20 minute sessions. Best afternoon I have ever had. First lap not to bad following the track instructor next time round brabham straight as fast as I dared paddock hill bend and up hailwood hill is terrifying then you have to stop for Druids. But I loved it everyone should try it. Funniest thing flash bugger on Fireblade with tyre warmers generator etc friend doing his spannering in the garage parked it in the kitty litter at the end of the main straight! Most sobering part was the pre brief having to write your blood group on your wrist band…

Was thinkingabout your old pistons, rods etc. Encase them in resin, then etch the resin "REPERFORMANCE, LAMBO V10". that wat they are easier to dispay, stand up. Keep up the great work.

Love the technical content, seeing how top level work is done in the engine builds. Would be great to see more R8 specific content in the workshop - I think there are plenty of owners who like to work on their cars and would like to see more of what you do. I would like to see more videos on actual tuning cars, I tune LS engines and originally started watching this channel for the tuning but have only seen 2 videos in 3 or so years on this, but I’ve stayed as I enjoy learning about more exotic cars.
But I’ve learnt that an LS is bloody good for its simplicity compared to how complex other engines are.

Track Day question - my first one was a Yamaha Race School at Brands. No idea if that approach still exists but was a really nice entry to the process... Gave loads of confidence in how the day would go and gave loads of good instruction...

New to your channel. Wasn't sure if it was for me. Not into cars much, bit of 70s rally maybe. Bike guy though and that's what brought me here. Bike stuff would bring you a new audience and as an ICE enthusiast I find the downloads of your knowledge fascinating whether it is bike or car engines. But you had me as a sub with your comments about Triumph and those Italian bikes!!

Good DB9s are way cheaper than 50k, bought one a year ago as I’ve always wanted one. Waayy better than I thought it ever would be. But I always wanted a TVR, it would have to be a proper sorted Tuscan though 👍🏻

This maybe a boring question but how do engine makers work out the tourque values of the nuts they need to make it as reliable as possible, and when watching you build engines, you torque nuts up to 80nm plus 90 degrees, isn't that the same as doing it to 95/100 Nm? Slightly different, but my 17 year old is wanting a bike for the road. Given insurance and all that , what do you advise? Personally I prefer my C90 to my GSXR1000 K3 purely for short trip giggles but obviously kids want to look good. Any ideas?
