Wow! They are beautiful! I came across your channel while looking for something else, you and your family are amazing! Thanks for sharing 🙂 👍 thumbs up from Wales 🏴 U.K.
I’ve come across Corn Snakes just sitting up in the stalks before. They are not poisonous but are very colorful like a Coral Snake. They do scare the bebjeezus out of you.
I never knew it existed but just learned about it a few nights ago and I just now finished planting my first crop this evening and I am so excited to see what we get!
We just stumbled across several cobs of this variety at our local grocery store. They tagged it as "decorative local sourced corn." Turns out that we know who supplied it to the store, and that it is indeed Glass Gem. So, we bought a bunch of it for the seeds to grow ourselves next year. We also have seed we bought from the man you mentioned in the video here. I think we have about few hundred seeds from him. Adding that to the stuff we found at the store.... we should have enough for a dozen or more 100' rows. If you harvest the corn early, just after or at the tail end of the milk stage, it tastes fantastic! It's not as vibrant in color as when the milk dries and the kernels stiffen up. But it cooks and roasts like any other "eater" corn.
How fun is this?!?! I'd fill a jar just to look at all the pretty colors. Kind of like marbles. I wonder if they lose their color over years. Thanks for sharing!
I'm in Belgium and growing my own Glass Gem from 20 original seeds bought 2 years ago (from Germany, of all places!). So far I've had great improvements from one year to the next, and I've used my best seeds this year, so I'm looking foreward to October! I'm happy to have found your channel, and I've just subscribed!
What a great show you all shared, such a good explanation of the native colored corn! You are doing a service to anyone wondering and wanting to grow this. Keep up the good work and videos please and thank you so much for sharing with us.
Thanks for sharing. I wanted to know more about glass gem corn because I saw it in a cartoon about Thanksgiving and they said that you couldn’t eat it and that it was mainly used for decorations. Anyways the cartoon was Max and Ruby.
Just started following your channel. Great content only enhanced when I saw your eldest son wearing a Liverpool football (soccer) jersey. YNWA from Northern Ireland.
got mine today thank yall so much! loved the pretty packaging! and VERY quick shipping, got 165 kernels ;)so excited for God to bless our gardens next year
At 0:51 had it paused. Fiancée looks at screen. "What is that?" Me: Glass gem corn Fiancée: Oh thats the husk.... for a moment I thought they were trying to shove a cob of corn into a really big banana!
Beautiful corn with all the different variations. Glad you are carrying on planting this & sharing with others. You make very informative videos. Keep ‘em coming! Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇨🇱🇺🇸👍😍
Who knew that a "stupid corn" can be so beautiful!? 😲Thank you for your knowledge!💐 I've never herd of this type of corn and will try to grow few stalks out of curiosity.
The first time I grew it, it wasn't this pretty. I saved seed from the biggest and best, and planted that, then did the same the next year. This was year 5, and it's gotten significantly more beautiful each season.
Those ears are so beautiful and colorful thank you so much for sharing you knowledge and history behind this variety I enjoy knowing the history of the varieties I raise. I will be purchasing some seeds as I feel these would be great for a 3 sisters garden I am planning for next year. Another thing from history for the garden.
I enjoyed the video today. I learned a lot about the decorative corn that I see offered in some of the stores. I will have to check in to your Etsy store and see about planting some of my own.
I’m a newish gardener and mine turned out gorgeous my first try! My husband says they look like bubblegum. I’m definitely growing it again from saved seeds. Happy planting everyone 🌱🤘
Wow they’re all so gorgeous! Not only do they make beautiful fall decorations, but a lot of them would also make some beautiful Christmas decorations. Do they dry as vibrant too? My head is swimming with ideas. 😂
Just visited your Etsy page, price is great. I will be placing an order in the near future. Hope you guys have a wonderful day and continue to have a wonderful day. Take care and best wishes to you and your family
I enjoyed the video, simply because it was unique. The corn is amazingly beautiful. But I live in Iowa, and grow some of the best peaches and cream sweet corn ever tasted.
🌅 Dry the seeds on the cob as is, in hot sunshine, take inside at night, to avoid dew humidity, and to avoid rodents and raccoons feasting on the precious corn.🌽🌽🌽 Be sure your seeds are completely dry, before placing in a jar. It does take time.
I love it, I grow glass gem corn every year just for decorations in fall. every ear is a surprise so its fun to see what each ear looks like
Incredibly beautiful corn ❤
ok, this is officially THE COOLEST CORN EVER
I think so!

Thanx much ,Glass gem corn is wonderfull corn ,and me...i love rainbow ❤
this is a great idea, as "decorative" is usually sold so much cheaper than whats normally marketed as edible I'ma steal this idea 😂
Just beautiful 😊❤
This is absolutely incredible. I thought the picture in the catalogue had to be photoshopped but it seems they really are just that vibrant
They are absolutely stunning, beautiful.
Edible too. 😊❤ make flour out of it, as needed.
Corn flour doesn't keep well, but whole kernels sure do.
It's AWESOME! AMAZING

I love it as well. History, and how things came to be is so important.
I'm from Oklahoma. We used to call it Mother Goose popcorn. A friend's mom kettle cooked it, and it was colorful candy :)
Oh cool!
So pretty!
Popcorn 🍿 yum 😋
So much fun!
"You cant eat this like traditional corn" Traditional corn isnt eaten on the cob. Native corn was never soft.

What does it taste like? So it can not be roasted or fried? Which came first, the kernel or the stalk? It is beautiful.
No it's a flint corn so it's good for meal or popcorn. I'm a creationist so I think the stalk came first :)
