About Us:
We are a homeschool and homesteading family currently building on our new 20 acre homestead in North Idaho. Next, you need to learn to shear and spin wool! It's the best!! I had a black Babydoll Southdown ram for awhile. His name was Zacchaeus (he was a wee little man), but most of the time I called him Tank. ;-)
That is an awesome name! The black ram in ID is Tank!
Cindy have you seen the Angry Ram channel? Sadly he has passed away, but you can still watch older videos. That ram attacked everything. He has some sons though, but they don't have the horns
@@recoveringsoul755 No, I haven't seen that... My flock was originally meant to be just a fiber herd, with no intact males for breeding. But I got snookered once, and bought what was advertised as 2 beautiful wethers but turned out to be 2 virile rams. Yeah... not my idea of a good time. They were Jacobs (which I LOVE) with strong curled horns. YIKES. The Southdown ram *was* acquired for breeding but I never was able to get my hands on a good ewe, so I abandoned that project. I'm still covered up in wool, as I sheared much more than I could use in a lifetime! LOL!
Had "Rambo" the ram o'lamb for awhile. 😂

Reminds me of why cats always love the person that doesn't like cats. That person shows no interest in the, doesn't look at them, etc. the cat sees this as a super friendly gesture.
Sheep eyes are to the side, so that they can see danger approaching from all sides.
Human eyes are forward facing, good for stereo vision and depth perception like the predator that we are. When we're interested in something we look at it. when a wolf is interested in a sheep, it looks at it. Try not looking directly at her, but rather facing to the side and glancing over. might make her feel more comfortable. Good luck with your precious babydolls!

Congratulations!! I remember the time i first brought home 3 ewes. I was so excited i could cry! Just remember that they can not have copper so be sure to check the feed and mineral. If they have too much it will build up on their liver and completely burn their liver and kill them. And a tip: for getting the ewe in the pen by luring her with the lambs, get an old laundry basket and tie a rope on it. Put the lambs in the basket and from a distance, drag it into the pen. It works SOOOOOO good! I am so happy for you guys! So glad your dreams are coming true!!! ❤❤❤

We had a herd of sheep when I was growing up, probably around twenty or thirty. Be extra careful in the spring with new grass and clover. They get bloated pretty easy. You've got a fantastic start on your herd 👍🥰✌️
