If you save seeds from the best looking ones, every year they will get better and better colors

Have you tasted the Southern Classic: "Spoon Bread"? aka "Hot Water Bread".....
Basically just Corn Meal mixed with a little hot water & dash of salt, formed into a patty in the palm of your hand... then Fried. Served Hot with Real Butter.. Mmm Mmmmmm Mmmmmmmm :)

One of my kiddos dropped a popcorn seed in with our potatoes for fun 😮 (which is unfertlized), and it sprouted within 4 days. Survived transplanting as well, once discovered 😅❤

Glass Gem corn was developed by an Oklahoma Cherokee named Carl Barns, Cherokee name White Eagle. He collected all the different corns grown by the native Americans but glass Gem and one one named White Eagle after him are all that were not lost.

Dry kernels can be ground up a bit at a time in a coffee mill.
Hand crank mills should best be made from stainless steel, nothing less. 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽

Corn earworms are responsible for invading your corn. The moths lay eggs on the silks and the larva hatch and crawl into the corn under the husks to eat the developing kernels until they are big enough to emerge. The same little pests have invaded my gem corn as well. My corn is not ready for harvest yet so I have not yet peeled back the husks to see how much damage they have caused.

Thank you for the advice. It's my first year with Glass Gem and didn't know how long to leave it. I have 23 stalks. I noticed the tassels were ready before the silks as well!
