Too much mindless socializing might have the potential to make you stupid, but too much social isolation can lead to serious delusion and mental derangement. agreed... !! Finding the people I can talk to by relation... people that get it... understand all the concepts and the power of our word/thoughts and understandings that land us in our reality. I have faith the rise of the introverts bringing out the light (opposite of group think). I think this also relates to boundaries for all layers and levels of it. I'd argue the majority of leos audience needs more socialization. I'm assuming most of the audience are a bunch of introverted, shy, philosopher type loners
But they are and that’s why this vid is a problem. Leo is saying it to justify staying in his own way of thinking, and because of that his followers who already are a majority of outcasts will take it a step further and isolate themselves further. Everything Leo says isolates peoples thinking and in turn isolates them to his community.
After 7 decades.on this planet.. and having lost every friend and family member by now... I never "fitted in" and at this time in my life there is no pressure of any kind on me to conform, comply, or join any 'groups". I consider myself a very lucky man.

@@kristilu1987 On one hand I completely agree. But I have to recognize there is a big difference between loneliness and alone. I have been lonely when surrounded by people and relationships that were supposed to be lasting. I am now alone. Yeah, sometimes lonely. But looking at the difference and the risk of being involved to think I am no longer lonely or being alone, I choose the latter. Sure beats depending on someone else outside yourself to decide what happens to you, redefining who you authentically are, or what YOU have learned, unless that individual is exceedingly rare and willing to see YOU for YOU and themselves for themselves. Then it’s possible to learn from each other. Or not.

In my life I definitely tend to notice that the most social people are always the people who think about things in a very surface level type way. They often tend to assume life is very simple and people who ask the big questions are being unnecessarily pedantic.
This is exactly what my parents would tell me if I started asking the “big” questions… “you’re just not busy enough” or “you’re just lucky you don’t have real problems”.

Totally agree! I learned this skill at a earlier age about 19, 35 now. Built my life how i wanted it but in the slow process of refinement and observation. Leo's a great power and reminder here of whats gotten me to this incredible position. Lol i got trapped by being too social and people pleasing, Balance is key. Like he said "there is a time to be social, silly, stupid and have fun but just as importantly a time to be at home contemplating and creating new dreams. I COMPLETELY agree with this . The collective Consciousness / Hive Mind is a REAL thing. I've taken SERIOUS precautions to PROTECT myself and have SERIOUS boundaries from that energy . Does that mean I'm not going to expand my energy ? No . This made me realize how much my negative experiences were needed to prepare my soul. I had childhood trauma which caused my toxic shame and social anxiety. I isolate a lot. I know because of my social anxiety and c-ptsd, I was a validation addict. I think my social anxiety protected me from the wrong people to seek validation from. Well seeking validation outside of self is not good but I imagine if I didn't have social anxiety, I would've blended in with the very wrong people....For the past few years, my isolated self started working on my inner healing and now I am open to connections. My less traumatized self will now connect with good souls instead of the "bad" souls my traumatized self would've connected with. Wow. God thank you. More of a reason not to question the higher being.

I've realized the effect of socialising on my awareness within the last years of collage. After that I intuitively knew that I need a lot of alone time to unlearn to deprogram myself from everything I've learned about life from the education system through my life. Thank you Leo, identifying as a part of a group has a bad impact on us indeed and especially being a part of an institution. The majority will always be blinded lead easily to lower consciousness. That's why individuation is crucial. I believe the best thing you can do to yourself is taking on your own path in life. Being "in the world, not of it" frees us from being enslaved to it unknowingly.

I completely understand your point. I am very aware that I am more true to myself when I have spent time alone and I really value that time. However, I am also very aware that too much time on my own will lead to a decline in my mental health. It is all about balance. We also learn a lot from eachother. Intellect is not everything. I thought it was the be all and end all for years but it is really not. As long as I am true to myself then that is all that matters.
Leo, I've been watching you for six years and I love your content you give meaning to my life and I wanted to get it off my chest. Thank you so much for this video because you basically cut my guilt about leaving a few friends behind and my social life because I prefer to be alone. I've been trying hard to socialize just to get any benefit out of it but I'm no longer fulfilled by anything other people have to offer, it feels like a chore to talk to most. I truly and deeply hope I meet someone like you, who thinks alike, but it's so terribly hard since we're all antisocial hahaha and the loop goes on

I’ve watched this content for a long time and benefitted so much but I’ve had to truly, sadly accept that you cannot help to people open their minds until they are ready but truly, thank you for helping to open my mind. This is quite an interesting angle to look at things. as a queer person, i've always felt alienated from my society & community, but this made me much more critical about the world & politics in general, made me dedicate my time to understand this alienation i felt through reading, opened many intellectual horizons. i think what you're saying is in principle correct
This is a particularly important topic to think about and contemplate. I've been an introvert my whole life and I've also learned to be an extravert freely, but still, I feel much more comfortable and 'true to myself' when I'm alone. im confused as to why this content has so little views tbh. I respect leo immensly for what hes doing in all honesty because for some reason I always remembered his videos getting well over 100k views all the time idk why I even thought I saw millions at a time. But the fact that hes still doing it shows the passion and love he has for the craft. Its just crazy because I have learned so much from this channel.
Leo Ive really been liking your change up in energy and approach to shooting videos, doing you, and living and saying the things you want to say how you want to say them. No filters, less mind. Loving the videos even more lately, and the blog has definitely been getting better and better. Me and a fiend have been here, "doing the work" , and growing since the beginning of this actualized creation. Its been quite the journey so far my friend, and its only getting better each day.

I think that's a narcissistic take on it. We aren't any better. In fact, in the past, we, as a species, needed others for survival, so it would be smart to conform. We just live easy lives now and don't need direct relationships with others to survive anymore.
Socialization is incredibly valuable for the following reasons: 1. Information/resource sharing 2. Viewing of the self through projection 3. Widening perspectives 4. Health (our bodies give us happy chemicals) 5. Boundary strengthening 6. Empathy and compassion strengthening 7. Trigger evaluation (people trigger us and that helps us explore our trauma) 8. Affection and closeness are critical to human meaning 9. Ego whittling 10. Spiral Dynamics stage progression I think it makes sense to spend a lot of time alone and a lot of time with others at different stages of development and you will feel when the time is right. But being alone all the time has a tendency to promote schizophrenia. True “yellow” intelligence knows not to slip into groupthink, nor schitzoid self-aggrandizement. It can play in both sandboxes, and a yellow thinker can also play the game of the social group he’s in. A yellow thinker in a red group can have fun but enforce boundaries. A yellow thinker in an orange group can speak the language of the orange person to fulfill his goals. If we are using an SDI framework I’ve found that isolation is a requirement in moving from one stage to the next. If one is in red, being alone during the transformational dilemma can give one the space to move into blue structured thinking. Then socialization is important to conform to the group. When it is time to move to Orange, a new stage of isolation is needed to move to the selfish rationality of that stage. Then, it is time to locate your Orange friends. I see socialization as dangerous when it keeps you stuck in a stage. A lot of people won’t move stages for decades and they can pull you way down. It’s incredibly dangerous to get stuck in a stage because (I believe) that is where mental illness breeds.
When i socialize with others there is nothing and i mean no thing that can change my mind. I don't conform to anything. Sometimes i just stare at the people as they speak like they are just something to observe. When i socialize its to get out of solitude and watch something different. To watch the animals interact. But i am incapable of influence from them. This also can cause issues in a different manner. It sometimes can make me feel more alone in groups, which brings up a certain sadness. I see that the others are immersed in their exchanges and enjoying themselves and i am mostly incapable of that at this point in my development. Whatever. It doesn't matter
Don't worry, most people are actually not enjoying themselves although they may think and look like they are. Here is an excerpt from Fromm that discussed this: “With feeling as with thinking, one- must distinguish between a genuine feeling, which originates in ourselves, and a pseudo feeling, which is really not our own although we believe it to be. Let us choose an example from everyday life which is typical of the pseudo character of our feelings in contact with others. We observe a man who is attending a party. He is gay, he laughs, makes friendly conversation, and all in all seems to be quite happy and contented. On taking his leave, he has a friendly smile while saying how much he enjoyed the evening. The door closes behind him -and this is the moment when we watch him care fully. A sudden change is noticed in his face. The smile has disappeared; of course, that is to be expected since he is now alone and has nothing or nobody with him to evoke a smile. But the change I am speaking of is more than just the disappearance of the smile. There appears on his face an expression of deep sadness, almost of desperation. This expression probably stays only for a few seconds, and then the face assumes the usual mask like expression; the man gets into his car, thinks about the evening, wonders whether or not he made a good impression, and feels that he did. But was "he" happy and gay during the party? Was the brief expression of sadness and desperation we observed on his face only a momentary reaction of no great significance?"
This is my biggest problem with social media and reaching out to anybody, because as bad as I don't want to say this, I already know what everyone will say, I understand the lingo and how every human reacts to any situation. It's hard to explain when you're the one who gets it, but that "getting it" is not always fun. I know. I'm writing in my notebook right now about how you can push the envelope way too far, know way too much, understand way too many things, that it takes on a repeat, and in that repetitievness, you almost go nuts, you lose your mind. I'm telling everyone out there, be careful where and what you are allowing yourself to get into or what you are letting go into your mind and thoughts. YOU CAN GO SANE, IN AN INSANE WORLD! and that is a scary thing to understand and know too much. Trust me, because I will not lie to you out there. I would not go any further than philosophy itself. When you go past that, I am telling you because I have done it, did it, experimented with it and experienced it myself, you may never return to who you thought you we're, and you will then know what horror is. I call it the "horrible glory" of everything. It's like a rubberband pulling you in two directions, and when you tell it to stop, sometimes it doesn't. Stay out of murky waters. Make sure you never go deeper than your own abyss. Remain in a HIGHER ABYSS. You do not want to experience hell itself. I found that Jesus consciousness is the only way out from that hell for me, and even if it's a metaphor or happens to not be a reality, or even if I'm delusional, I don't care anymore, it's irrelevant to anything, and I'm willing to accept that, because I've already looked into every possibility that I can, and this has nothing to do with conformity in any way, shape or form. I give Jesus the credit and glory for everything, even if he's not a reality. I know this is hard to understand, but Jesus consciousness is what I find myself returning to time and time again, and I have looked into EVERYTHING that I can possibly think of, and nothing fills the void but when I call on the name of Jesus, and when I think of his compassion and sacrifice, and remember his words, it pulls me from the hell I find my mind getting into because of the world's aspects and the ignorance of simply conforming to conform. I know the average Joe will call me crazy or nuts, but that's ok, because I know the world as a whole will never understand understanding itself, and that's what kills me, crushes me, rips me to shreds, tears me into pieces, breaks me down beyond comprehension, is when I can't find what I am looking for in the world, but in Jesus and the arts alone, and only in a few others that dive deep, but know when they are going too far. I hate to boast that there are only a few, but this is one of the HARDEST THINGS to come across, is a UNIQUELY HONEST INDIVIDUAL, that does not just say what they have been conditioned to say, just because. It may seem like I am conforming to certain things, but I don't even think that way anymore, because I'm past that thinking, and deconditioning my brain has been the most difficult pill to swallow and thing that I have ever had to do, and I'm still in that process... Always remember, too much, too little, over doing it, not doing enough or anything at all. Don't do either. Have compassion in a corrupt, conditioned and lying world, but be careful your kindness doesn't get mistaken for some kind of nonsensical weakness that only fools attempt to abuse or take for granted. I can understand the point, but I also think that we have to realize that there are multiple types of intelligence. For example: - Musical intelligence (music) - Bodily intelligence (sports) - Interpersonal intelligence (relationships) - Logical intelligence (maths) - Spacial intelligence (visual) - Linguistic intelligence (language) - Intrapersonal intelligence (introspection) - etc I think socialisation is mostly interpersonal and linguistic intelligences. You could be intelligent in these areas but dumb in others. You could also be dumb in these areas but intelligent in others. What is "true" intelligence anyways if everybody is unique in their own ways? That being said, I think Leo mostly fall in the introspection intelligence.
I agree with you that there are other type of intelligence. But I would argue that you can take those other type of intelligence a lot future if you have introspection. It's like the META of intelligence.

I really appreciate this video. I am trying to deprogram and unlearn the lies I was taught all my life. Unfortunately, I have this pesky habit of checking the RUclips comments, and the comment sections tend to be very toxic on philosophy videos.
Beeing alone is when great ideas are born, if we go back at your episode what is intelligence, I've found that I am very aware and contend when with myself that when I try or am in any social environment I feel robed of my authentic self, this is experianced not theoretical, great episode Leo, thank you for making this available for us there are people that I've seen and been when I was trying to fit in into this social environment and couldn't find myself is like I was dying and many more people are in the same situation, and it's not 100% your fault for beeing different is them that have been submitting themselves to a copy, paste system most of the time since beeing authentic won't give you the false illusion of the Success that is robing you, of you.
Yeah, the fitting in isn’t good but it’s just a compromise. Just look internally but balance it out with introspection and meditation and then some days hang out with friends.
You can harmonize energetically with others while still retaining your autonomy and own mind. Or if the energy of the people around you is disturbing, you can still harmonize within yourself, hold a strong space and be graceful towards the people.
@@paulbraunstein2290 it's all about balance, I am not saying that its not necessarily to socialise and keep in touch with our community, definitely is but once we realize that we gaining more insight from our own company they it's just like you are treading yourself for them.

6 years ago I agreed to do some illegal work that required me to stay inside of the house to "guard" something. Internet was not allowed in the house so I could go out twice a month for a few hours if I wanted to talk to my family or check social media, since I was in a different country. This seemed easy to me because I'm introverted person anyway and being alone is not difficult for me. (also the money was good) So everything I had for entertainment were anime, movies and books. People visited me twice a month to take me out or bring food and that was it. I spent 2 years doing that and I can say that was probably the best time of my life, I just learned so much about myself and life in general. I used to smoke weed every night before bed and just sit and think and it was like I just got all of those things downloaded into my head out of nowhere. I came out of there as a completely different person. Before that I used to be very shy and thinking everyone else is better than me and all kinds of things, and those 2 years of being isolated literally erased my ego almost completely.
@@NerdyNEET the only thing was that the police can find the house, which is what happened in the end after 2 years and that is why my work ended. Luckily they didn't have a warrant and couldn't come inside so when they left I left too. I was aware of all the risks before I started the job. That was a "small business" so it was not like I would get killed or something :D
@@NerdyNEET where I'm from police is exactly the same as you described, you get a year in jail for smoking a joint. But weed is legal in this country where I worked, so it was not the biggest deal, the only thing is that you are not allowed to produce it in big amounts and try to shipp it to other countries
Personally I have noticed that when I socialize it's harder to introspect and self reflect. I start to think in superficial and simple ways.... but still, as you said, it's an important part of life.

I also like the obvious tendency of your thinking to actually getting more broad, nuanced, non-biased. I think i feel the subtle abstract differences in thinking now and years ago you mentioned. After watching your life purpose video, I can already formulate what this one is about. I haven’t watched it yet but I want to say quickly that even if conversations are storms of a person’s own egoic and subjective beliefs and introspections, it doesn’t take away the fact we can talk about enlightenment and respond with love to their struggles. We can bring healing, perspective of something bigger than ourselves, and teach about love with love. All this can be done without the confiscation of ourselves.
I realized that 99.99% of what I think is a product of someone else's thinking that made a good impression on me. Shocking, I immediately paused the video and tried to think up something that hasn't been thought before.I struggled to do so for half an hour and I stopped as I got quite dizzy and exhausted from trying to trying to think something unique and novel completely unrelated to prior knowledge. I went to sleep and first thought in the morning was, I can't think anything like that, I have to investigate further.

I do enjoy much of what Leo has to say and I've watched his work on and off for many years. However, I find it highly contradictory to attempt coming across as a vast enlightened being whilst proclaiming to "have reached levels of intelligence few have ever reached". It's very egotistical... so surely enlightened individuals wouldn't feel the need to throw that out there? They wouldn't need to. Where's the ego death?

That's it. Just like all youtubers you're just repeating the same basic ideas now. No one has anything new to say anymore. No one is moving forward. No one has a vision of the next step. Everyone is just holding on to ancient ''wisdom'' to cope with a world that's changing rapidly into the unknown, despite dystopian projections.

leo, appreciate the upload. There definitely is a benefit to spending time alone. However, I can't help but think some sort of balance is needed. With things like art for instance, I believe experiencing others can spawn a new doorway to experiment down. The tricky part is learning to socialize without conforming. I've noticed this while being home over the summer. Even if I don't agree without someone's statement, if it is constantly repeated to me on a daily basis, I almost start to unconsciously believe it. I assume the nuance you're talking about is literally mentioned by Leo towards the later part (haven't watched the video yet). It's kind of unfortunate that good titles are often far less nuanced than the content. To be clear I am not saying Leo is doing anything wrong with his titles, it's just that "Oversocialization and group-think make you stupid, but not healthy relationships" is a far worse title than "How socialization makes you stupid", because even though the 1st one is more nuanced, it's also got 2 ideas within it, which doesn't make the title stick as much to the reader. Seems like there is sort of a tradeoff between being accurate with your content and having catchier titles when someone makes such long form video with lots of nuances in them, like Leo does. And that this kind of tradeoff wouldn't exist if someone just made short and shallow videos with one single point. Not saying Leo should switch obviously, just thinking that RUclips is biased towards shorter and overall more simplistic content in many ways.
This is incredibly true. I’m not very social but my profession requires me to be in close contact with clients for an hour or a few each session. I try not to push my radical non-dual worldview and allow the conversations to go at their pace. Most people just pick out conversation topics that they saw in viral tweets, and they don’t have any additional information or questions about it.
Leo, I love you. I just want to say that, despite the fact that you say a lot of true things in this video, it is rife with arrogance. This I see in almost all your videos. The fact that many people do not have the insight you have is completely irrelevant. Even though it is true that people are stupid, it does not need to be said. A way out is to feel the slight joy you feel when you think about other people being stupid and watch it stream away over and over again. No need to repress it. Enjoy it while it is there. I struggle with the same thing, it is one of the things that hold me back the most.
I get the vibe that Leo has a kind of contempt for most people. I like his videos and get a lot from him, but his (arrogance/contempt/intensity?) is unmistakable. Unmistakable in the sense that it may be one of those things or all of them……I dunno, but he comes across unhappy with something

For me, that was a breeding ground to start feeling superior in order to cope with the lack of love I had received. It's too bad that Leo has this tone, because quite a few people I tried introducing to him were turned off by it. :(
I’ve been binging self help related content for years, and have paid for multiple coaches before. So far, Leo’s stuff is the only content which has actually got me to take real action in my life. I think being called stupid is something I actually need, a lot of self help stuff is just way too positive and doesn’t get me to really see all the lies and bullshit I keep telling myself. He might take it a bit too far sometimes, but for me it’s a lot more help than hindrance.
Watching leo is NOT socializing. I don't think the kind of "socializing" he talks about having done is really quality socializing either...I feel like he is talking about doing "pickup" and yeah, that IS stupid

Female are social creatures by nature and it’s all due to some sociobiological survival reasons that go back to the hunter gatherer time. You are probably partially less social than most of your fellow women.. that doesn’t make from you a loner! To me this notion of a female loner or a female warrior is as ridiculous as a pregnant man!

It depends on what socialization you are doing; in my opinion, if you socialize with people of different income class than you/or if you travel to other countries and socialize with people there, I'd say you'd gain more insight and are less likely to fall into group think. This largely depends on who you surround yourself with because I've met many introverted men with very dogmatic brains. When they socialize, it tests their viewpoints on reality after spending so much time alone... they actually become dumber than they otherwise would've been because they are not gaining insight from interacting with others. (These men tend to fall for religion and internet ideology easier as well, and I'd say it's BECAUSE of their lack of socialization that they subscribe to these theories, thus hindering their intelligence despite spending so much time alone). Similar to how one can be susceptible to groupthink, I've noticed, as someone who is the most introverted of the extravert archetypes (if that makes sense), that there is also conformity of what I'd call "self-think." Suppose you aren't applying balance and interacting with people, especially those that are diverse and have different backgrounds/cultures than you. In that case, you can fall into "self-think," a tunnel vision view of reality because no one is challenging you/your beliefs. I waitressed at Denny's for 4 years, and I can tell you I learned more from meeting people there than my introverted male friend who subscribes to logic and lacks emotions/empathy. I think it can be MORE valuable to socialize with one sheep from every different herd, is what I am trying to say.
Well said! Social skills take intelligence and they can only be practiced in socializing. Also, a portion of the population are truly inborn extroverts and their energy is not drained by socializing. On the contrary, their batteries get loaded in social interaction. They thrive in social contact. And good quality socializing is not manipulative. Skilled socializers may not create many original thoughts, but they may be the ones who can bring people together and work successfully towards a common goal. The big problem in today's world is that way too many people are isolated and lonely. Their isolation does not make them think great thoughts; it makes them suffer and often dulled down. I find that part of the problem is that we actually value intelligence too much and believe that rational thinking can solve all our problems. We refuse to admit that every technological invention produces as many problems as it solves. To what degree is our progress really progress at all? In a way of seeing, the Amish are pretty capable people. They are highly sociable within their own group. They can build a house and fix many kinds of tools. They can grow food. It takes intelligence and skills to do these things. How many of us can build anything? What do you really know about different kinds of timber for example? You may have read many books about wood, but has it made you understand how wood behaves when you work on it? It takes years to get to know - really know - materials. Working with a material for a long time increases your intelligence. You don't just learn about the qualities of the material, you learn about yourself - about your body and about your ways of thinking. Repetitive physical work can calm down the mind. You may get totally new ideas. There you go, original thinking!
I think u r spot on. I've found an app where there r so many ppls to connect with all over the world. From all different age groups n backgrounds. N I feel happy there than in my local community. Bcoz local commercial r very narrow minded, racist and old fashioned. I like to talk to all kinds of people all over the world. N learn about different cultures n countries. It's wonderful. Without the internet we wud all be stuck in our local tribes n fear the outsiders.
I am at heart an introvert and love solitude. Very interesting topic- I’ve been thinking about it this week. When I am going through a period of deeper awakening or expansion- I intuitively limit my socialising. And then I feel much more light and energised after, where I’m more in the mood for it again. I’m starting to notice these cycles more. So far it’s a way for me to balance it- to understand when it’s beneficial or detrimental
My job REQUIRES group/corporate think. I have tried to cultivate those responses even though I do not subscribe to them. Have to keep my job. Really boxes in authentic, personal, truthful responses from me. Plays havoc with my psyche and has required a huge amount of compartmentalization. I feel like a hooker. You are grossly mistaken about genders. I am a very attractive, professionally successful woman. But now as a mid-age woman in a job that requires group- think, I experience a great dilemma.it’s confirm in the job environment or else!

Leo, the notion that you made, basically stating that men are typically more intelligent than women, because men "talk" less, is very disappointing. Hearing this our whole lives becomes very disheartening, the "big thinkers" of the past, such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were respected and listened to because they were men. Your voice is heard so much more easier than us for centuries. Women are the anchors to the spirit world, all naturally connected without even trying. Many times I've been in a group of men they'll talk over me, so I think you really need to re-ponder your beliefs on this one, seems mighty arrogant. I've seen it working with children from a young age, the girls are always so smart, and the boys are typically barbaric most of the time, I think as men grow older they just tell themselves they're smarter. Surely our IQ is equal, but emotional intelligence and wisdom, women have this in the bag. You're wrong.
The experience of loosing oneself while socializing indeed takes energy. Especially if it happens unvoluntarily and also unpredictably. I was thinking and praying about what it means to loose ones authentic values, in the moment of socializing. One thought that came to my mind was the experience of making a mistake or in some way not living up to my own standards and values, as a trigger point for experiencing that I'm no longer aligned to my values. Another thougt was the feelings of disgust that can appear when other people don't live up to my values. So, you can ask yourself these questions: how should people treat each other? What truth do you believe in? What is the deepest truth ethics that is sustainable to build your life upon? How do you want to be in the presence of others? And how do you want others to behave? Now, I believe that it is impossible to always live up to those standards for either you or others (if you don't have low standards, which I doubt that you have). But if you feel like you loose your authentic self or your values, that is a) going to make you very conscious and alert and b) making you perceive all these mistakes, flaws etc in a conscious way. Not living up to your values (even if it's you or the other who don't live up to them) can then make you feel unworthy or dumb. But we also know that it is impossible to live up to them all the time. If you think it is possible, it is only by pride for a ahort while. But of course you are not a person taking pride. That is not your value. But even though, we all sometimes take pride as our solution, even though that's not our ideal or will. And that is not the end of the road. Now there is potential for all of us. I would encourage you to think of your values as a lamp ahead of yourself. The lamp shine no matter what you do. And you keep it in your heart, so it will keep shining. Even if you or one another person fails, the lamp still shines. Maybe some people neglect that the lamp still shines within your heart and are looking of you as though you were a mistake. But you are not. If you fail or perceive someone elses flaws, the lamp will still shine. You will always be entrusted with new beginnings. And each time you will strengthen your inner soul. That will help you to not loose yourself next time. In this way we can interact with others despite that we are going to feel unworthy. Because if we do, the lamp still shines. And here is the deep stuff: it shines because of it's fuel: love, forgiveness and reconciliation. That is why you should keep it in your heart. The one who says "I am the way and the light" is the lamp in this metaphor. And that is one man that have given me so much in life. Jesus died on the cross and his blood was shed for all of us because in him there is love, forgiveness and recolciliation. That is our proof that he loves us and never look at us as unworthy. He shines on us and makes us righteous because of the lamp in his heart that gives us life. That is why the light can not be overcome (as it says in the bible). You are never unworthy in Jesus name and in his eyes. Trust the light and he will rise you up, as he himself was risen from the dead to God's throne in heaven. "You shall be with me in paradise" /Jesus. God bless you with his light and love that endures forever. "TTL" (=trust the light)
I would like to add that there have been just as many female geniuses as there has been male geniuses throughout history, their ideas were simply not listened to or taken seriously, so we have either not heard of them, or they never got the chance they deserved to be recognized.

I consider myself a feminist, and I will always support women, but I do have to agree with you on that one. I have more intelligent conversations with men than I do with women. They have nothing new to talk about, and are focused on appearance more than anything. Being intelligent is the most attractive quality someone can have.

Besides the large majority of geniuses being male, they also have a 5 years shorter life expectancy due to higher work related stress, making up 93% of work place fatalities, 92% of deaths due to war, 76% of suicides and homicides, 55% of DV victims, 23% victims of r ape and SA at the hands of a woman accompanied by no legal due process, getting 10-63% more prison time for the same crimes, 81% of homelessness, getting significantly less illness funding, 40% less chances to be adopted and so on. These facts do not make me feel like a 'bigger man' that will conquer the universe and win against all odds or something. They make me feel betrayed by the female collective (never trusted other men to begin with) and make me want to unalive myself.

i love how people say that you need to be kinda over 16 or 18 to be in your waking life-because a kid who is 15 will never probably understand what he is saying because we as kids do tend to be a lot more social in our lives and never really get those chances to be alone with ourselves and think about life and meaning etc.
Thanks Leo for creating another authentic video! This was helpful for me as I have always preferred being alone than in groups. It has helped me a lot with creativity and ‘original thought’ which I think is divine thought that is expressed when one is clear of unconscious thought patterns. I used to think it was selfish to want to be alone most of the time but this has helped clarify that for me. I have been lonely when surrounded by people and relationships that were supposed to be lasting. I am now alone. Yeah, sometimes lonely. But looking at the difference and the risk of being involved to think I am no longer lonely or being alone, I choose the latter. Sure beats depending on someone else outside yourself to decide what happens to you, redefining who you authentically are, or what YOU have learned, unless that individual is exceedingly rare and willing to see YOU for YOU and themselves for themselves. In my life I definitely tend to notice that the most social people are always the people who think about things in a very surface level type way. They often tend to assume life is very simple and people who ask the big questions are being unnecessarily pedantic.

Totally agree! I learned this skill at a earlier age about 19, 35 now. Built my life how i wanted it but in the slow process of refinement and observation. Leo's a great power and reminder here of whats gotten me to this incredible position. Lol i got trapped by being too social and people pleasing, Balance is key. This made me realize how much my negative experiences were needed to prepare my soul. I had childhood trauma which caused my toxic shame and social anxiety. I isolate a lot. I know because of my social anxiety and c-ptsd, I was a validation addict. I think my social anxiety protected me from the wrong people to seek validation from. Well seeking validation outside of self is not good but I imagine if I didn't have social anxiety, I would've blended in with the very wrong people....For the past few years, my isolated self started working on my inner healing and now I am open to connections. My less traumatized self will now connect with good souls instead of the "bad" souls my traumatized self would've connected with. Wow. God thank you. More of a reason not to question the higher being.

I've realized the effect of socialising on my awareness within the last years of collage. After that I intuitively knew that I need a lot of alone time to unlearn to deprogram myself from everything I've learned about life from the education system through my life.

I completely understand your point. I am very aware that I am more true to myself when I have spent time alone and I really value that time. However, I am also very aware that too much time on my own will lead to a decline in my mental health. It is all about balance. We also learn a lot from eachother. Intellect is not everything. I thought it was the be all and end all for years but it is really not. As long as I am true to myself then that is all that matters.

Leo, I've been watching you for six years and I love your content you give meaning to my life and I wanted to get it off my chest. Thank you so much for this video because you basically cut my guilt about leaving a few friends behind and my social life because I prefer to be alone. I've been trying hard to socialize just to get any benefit out of it but I'm no longer fulfilled by anything other people have to offer, it feels like a chore to talk to most. Thank you for this, Leo. It pains me how many people still are paradigm locked. I’ve watched this content for a long time and benefitted so much but I’ve had to truly, sadly accept that you cannot help to people open their minds until they are ready but truly, thank you for helping to open my mind. Always positive, even though my ego used to fight me kicking and screaming.

im confused as to why this content has so little views tbh. I respect leo immensly for what hes doing in all honesty because for some reason I always remembered his videos getting well over 100k views all the time idk why I even thought I saw millions at a time. I think that's a narcissistic take on it. We aren't any better. In fact, in the past, we, as a species, needed others for survival, so it would be smart to conform. We just live easy lives now and don't need direct relationships with others to survive anymore.
Socialization is incredibly valuable for the following reasons:
1. Information/resource sharing
2. Viewing of the self through projection
3. Widening perspectives
4. Health (our bodies give us happy chemicals)
5. Boundary strengthening
6. Empathy and compassion strengthening
7. Trigger evaluation (people trigger us and that helps us explore our trauma)
8. Affection and closeness are critical to human meaning
9. Ego whittling
10. Spiral Dynamics stage progression
I think it makes sense to spend a lot of time alone and a lot of time with others at different stages of development and you will feel when the time is right. But being alone all the time has a tendency to promote schizophrenia.
True “yellow” intelligence knows not to slip into groupthink, nor schitzoid self-aggrandizement. It can play in both sandboxes, and a yellow thinker can also play the game of the social group he’s in.
A yellow thinker in a red group can have fun but enforce boundaries. A yellow thinker in an orange group can speak the language of the orange person to fulfill his goals.
If we are using an SDI framework I’ve found that isolation is a requirement in moving from one stage to the next. If one is in red, being alone during the transformational dilemma can give one the space to move into blue structured thinking. Then socialization is important to conform to the group.
When it is time to move to Orange, a new stage of isolation is needed to move to the selfish rationality of that stage. Then, it is time to locate your Orange friends.
I see socialization as dangerous when it keeps you stuck in a stage. A lot of people won’t move stages for decades and they can pull you way down. It’s incredibly dangerous to get stuck in a stage because (I believe) that is where mental illness breeds.
When i socialize with others there is nothing and i mean no thing that can change my mind. I don't conform to anything. Sometimes i just stare at the people as they speak like they are just something to observe. When i socialize its to get out of solitude and watch something different. To watch the animals interact. But i am incapable of influence from them. This also can cause issues in a different manner. It sometimes can make me feel more alone in groups, which brings up a certain sadness. I see that the others are immersed in their exchanges and enjoying themselves and i am mostly incapable of that at this point in my development. Whatever. It doesn't matter

Don't worry, most people are actually not enjoying themselves although they may think and look like they are. Here is an excerpt from Fromm that discussed this:

Let us choose an example from everyday life which is typical of the pseudo character of our feelings in contact with others. We observe a man who is attending a party. The door closes behind him -and this is the moment when we watch him care fully. A sudden change is noticed in his face. The smile has disappeared; of course, that is to be expected since he is now alone and has nothing or nobody with him to evoke a smile. This is my biggest problem with social media and reaching out to anybody, because as bad as I don't want to say this, I already know what everyone will say, I understand the lingo and how every human reacts to any situation. It's hard to explain when you're the one who gets it, but that "getting it" is not always fun. I know.
I'm writing in my notebook right now about how you can push the envelope way too far, know way too much, understand way too many things, that it takes on a repeat, and in that repetitievness, you almost go nuts, you lose your mind. I'm telling everyone out there, be careful where and what you are allowing yourself to get into or what you are letting go into your mind and thoughts. YOU CAN GO SANE, IN AN INSANE WORLD! and that is a scary thing to understand and know too much. Trust me, because I will not lie to you out there.
I would not go any further than philosophy itself. When you go past that, I am telling you because I have done it, did it, experimented with it and experienced it myself, you may never return to who you thought you we're, and you will then know what horror is. I call it the "horrible glory" of everything. It's like a rubberband pulling you in two directions, and when you tell it to stop, sometimes it doesn't. Stay out of murky waters. Make sure you never go deeper than your own abyss. Remain in a HIGHER ABYSS. You do not want to experience hell itself.
I found that Jesus consciousness is the only way out from that hell for me, and even if it's a metaphor or happens to not be a reality, or even if I'm delusional, I don't care anymore, it's irrelevant to anything, and I'm willing to accept that, because I've already looked into every possibility that I can, and this has nothing to do with conformity in any way, shape or form. I give Jesus the credit and glory for everything, even if he's not a reality. I know this is hard to understand, but Jesus consciousness is what I find myself returning to time and time again, and I have looked into EVERYTHING that I can possibly think of, and nothing fills the void but when I call on the name of Jesus, and when I think of his compassion and sacrifice, and remember his words, it pulls me from the hell I find my mind getting into because of the world's aspects and the ignorance of simply conforming to conform.
I know the average Joe will call me crazy or nuts, but that's ok, because I know the world as a whole will never understand understanding itself, and that's what kills me, crushes me, rips me to shreds, tears me into pieces, breaks me down beyond comprehension, is when I can't find what I am looking for in the world, but in Jesus and the arts alone, and only in a few others that dive deep, but know when they are going too far.
I hate to boast that there are only a few, but this is one of the HARDEST THINGS to come across, is a UNIQUELY HONEST INDIVIDUAL, that does not just say what they have been conditioned to say, just because. It may seem like I am conforming to certain things, but I don't even think that way anymore, because I'm past that thinking, and deconditioning my brain has been the most difficult pill to swallow and thing that I have ever had to do, and I'm still in that process...
Always remember, too much, too little, over doing it, not doing enough or anything at all. Don't do either. Have compassion in a corrupt, conditioned and lying world, but be careful your kindness doesn't get mistaken for some kind of nonsensical weakness that only fools attempt to abuse or take for granted. I can understand the point, but I also think that we have to realize that there are multiple types of intelligence. For example:
- Musical intelligence (music)
- Bodily intelligence (sports)
- Interpersonal intelligence (relationships)
- Logical intelligence (maths)
- Spacial intelligence (visual)
- Linguistic intelligence (language)
- Intrapersonal intelligence (introspection)
- etc
I think socialisation is mostly interpersonal and linguistic intelligences.
You could be intelligent in these areas but dumb in others.
You could also be dumb in these areas but intelligent in others.
What is "true" intelligence anyways if everybody is unique in their own ways?
That being said, I think Leo mostly fall in the introspection intelligence.
I agree with you that there are other type of intelligence. But I would argue that you can take those other type of intelligence a lot future if you have introspection. It's like the META of intelligence.

There is also fleecing gullible fools type of intelligence of which Gura is a prime example.

Beeing alone is when great ideas are born, if we go back at your episode what is intelligence, I've found that I am very aware and contend when with myself that when I try or am in any social environment I feel robed of my authentic self, this is experianced not theoretical, great episode Leo, thank you for making this available for us there are people that I've seen and been when I was trying to fit in into this social environment and couldn't find myself is like I was dying and many more people are in the same situation, and it's not 100% your fault for beeing different is them that have been submitting themselves to a copy, paste system most of the time since beeing authentic won't give you the false illusion of the Success that is robing you, of you.
Yeah, the fitting in isn’t good but it’s just a compromise. Just look internally but balance it out with introspection and meditation and then some days hang out with friends.

6 years ago I agreed to do some illegal work that required me to stay inside of the house to "guard" something. Internet was not allowed in the house so I could go out twice a month for a few hours if I wanted to talk to my family or check social media, since I was in a different country. This seemed easy to me because I'm introverted person anyway and being alone is not difficult for me. (also the money was good) So everything I had for entertainment were anime, movies and books. People visited me twice a month to take me out or bring food and that was it.
I spent 2 years doing that and I can say that was probably the best time of my life, I just learned so much about myself and life in general. I used to smoke weed every night before bed and just sit and think and it was like I just got all of those things downloaded into my head out of nowhere. I came out of there as a completely different person. Before that I used to be very shy and thinking everyone else is better than me and all kinds of things, and those 2 years of being isolated literally erased my ego almost completely.
I would like to have an experience like this.

the only thing was that the police can find the house, which is what happened in the end after 2 years and that is why my work ended. Luckily they didn't have a warrant and couldn't come inside so when they left I left too. I was aware of all the risks before I started the job.
That was a "small business" so it was not like I would get killed or something :D

But weed is legal in this country where I worked, so it was not the biggest deal, the only thing is that you are not allowed to produce it in big amounts and try to shipp it to other countries
It's not socialization that make us stupid, but our reaction to it. If we are truly awake, socialize even with stupid people can be totally harmless.

After watching your life purpose video, I can already formulate what this one is about. I haven’t watched it yet but I want to say quickly that even if conversations are storms of a person’s own egoic and subjective beliefs and introspections, it doesn’t take away the fact we can talk about enlightenment and respond with love to their struggles. We can bring healing, perspective of something bigger than ourselves, and teach about love with love. All this can be done without the confiscation of ourselves.

I realized that 99.99% of what I think is a product of someone else's thinking that made a good impression on me. Shocking, I immediately paused the video and tried to think up something that hasn't been thought before.I struggled to do so for half an hour and I stopped as I got quite dizzy and exhausted from trying to trying to think something unique and novel completely unrelated to prior knowledge. I went to sleep and first thought in the morning was, I can't think anything like that, I have to investigate further.
Following your work for a long time now and I have got to say , this EP is minding changing and very important one , much appreciation for your progression and wisdom , Leo , thank you for doing the work , a very inspirational and truthful human being.
I do enjoy much of what Leo has to say and I've watched his work on and off for many years. However, I find it highly contradictory to attempt coming across as a vast enlightened being whilst proclaiming to "have reached levels of intelligence few have ever reached". It's very egotistical... so surely enlightened individuals wouldn't feel the need to throw that out there? They wouldn't need to. Where's the ego death?

leo, appreciate the upload. There definitely is a benefit to spending time alone. However, I can't help but think some sort of balance is needed. With things like art for instance, I believe experiencing others can spawn a new doorway to experiment down. The tricky part is learning to socialize without conforming. I've noticed this while being home over the summer. Even if I don't agree without someone's statement, if it is constantly repeated to me on a daily basis, I almost start to unconsciously believe it. @@grain-coat I feel like your comment illustrates something important with RUclips. I assume the nuance you're talking about is literally mentioned by Leo towards the later part (haven't watched the video yet).
It's kind of unfortunate that good titles are often far less nuanced than the content. To be clear I am not saying Leo is doing anything wrong with his titles, it's just that "Oversocialization and group-think make you stupid, but not healthy relationships" is a far worse title than "How socialization makes you stupid", because even though the 1st one is more nuanced, it's also got 2 ideas within it, which doesn't make the title stick as much to the reader. Seems like there is sort of a tradeoff between being accurate with your content and having catchier titles when someone makes such long form video with lots of nuances in them, like Leo does. And that this kind of tradeoff wouldn't exist if someone just made short and shallow videos with one single point. Not saying Leo should switch obviously, just thinking that RUclips is biased towards shorter and overall more simplistic content in many ways.

This is incredibly true. I’m not very social but my profession requires me to be in close contact with clients for an hour or a few each session. I try not to push my radical non-dual worldview and allow the conversations to go at their pace. Most people just pick out conversation topics that they saw in viral tweets, and they don’t have any additional information or questions about it.
Leo, I love you. I just want to say that, despite the fact that you say a lot of true things in this video, it is rife with arrogance. This I see in almost all your videos.
The fact that many people do not have the insight you have is completely irrelevant. Even though it is true that people are stupid, it does not need to be said.
A way out is to feel the slight joy you feel when you think about other people being stupid and watch it stream away over and over again. No need to repress it. Enjoy it while it is there. I struggle with the same thing, it is one of the things that hold me back the most.
I get the vibe that Leo has a kind of contempt for most people. I like his videos and get a lot from him, but his (arrogance/contempt/intensity?) is unmistakable. Unmistakable in the sense that it may be one of those things or all of them……I dunno, but he comes across unhappy with something

For me, that was a breeding ground to start feeling superior in order to cope with the lack of love I had received.

I’ve been binging self help related content for years, and have paid for multiple coaches before. So far, Leo’s stuff is the only content which has actually got me to take real action in my life. I think being called stupid is something I actually need, a lot of self help stuff is just way too positive and doesn’t get me to really see all the lies and bullshit I keep telling myself.
He might take it a bit too far sometimes, but for me it’s a lot more help than hindrance.

It depends on what socialization you are doing; in my opinion, if you socialize with people of different income class than you/or if you travel to other countries and socialize with people there, I'd say you'd gain more insight and are less likely to fall into group think. This largely depends on who you surround yourself with because I've met many introverted men with very dogmatic brains. When they socialize, it tests their viewpoints on reality after spending so much time alone... they actually become dumber than they otherwise would've been because they are not gaining insight from interacting with others. (These men tend to fall for religion and internet ideology easier as well, and I'd say it's BECAUSE of their lack of socialization that they subscribe to these theories, thus hindering their intelligence despite spending so much time alone). Similar to how one can be susceptible to groupthink, I've noticed, as someone who is the most introverted of the extravert archetypes (if that makes sense), that there is also conformity of what I'd call "self-think." Suppose you aren't applying balance and interacting with people, especially those that are diverse and have different backgrounds/cultures than you. In that case, you can fall into "self-think," a tunnel vision view of reality because no one is challenging you/your beliefs. I waitressed at Denny's for 4 years, and I can tell you I learned more from meeting people there than my introverted male friend who subscribes to logic and lacks emotions/empathy.

Well said! Social skills take intelligence and they can only be practiced in socializing. Also, a portion of the population are truly inborn extroverts and their energy is not drained by socializing. On the contrary, their batteries get loaded in social interaction. They thrive in social contact. And good quality socializing is not manipulative. Skilled socializers may not create many original thoughts, but they may be the ones who can bring people together and work successfully towards a common goal. The big problem in today's world is that way too many people are isolated and lonely. Their isolation does not make them think great thoughts; it makes them suffer and often dulled down.
I find that part of the problem is that we actually value intelligence too much and believe that rational thinking can solve all our problems. We refuse to admit that every technological invention produces as many problems as it solves. To what degree is our progress really progress at all? In a way of seeing, the Amish are pretty capable people. They are highly sociable within their own group. They can build a house and fix many kinds of tools. They can grow food. It takes intelligence and skills to do these things. How many of us can build anything? What do you really know about different kinds of timber for example? You may have read many books about wood, but has it made you understand how wood behaves when you work on it? It takes years to get to know - really know - materials. Working with a material for a long time increases your intelligence. You don't just learn about the qualities of the material, you learn about yourself - about your body and about your ways of thinking. Repetitive physical work can calm down the mind. You may get totally new ideas. There you go, original thinking!
I think u r spot on. I've found an app where there r so many ppls to connect with all over the world. From all different age groups n backgrounds. N I feel happy there than in my local community. Bcoz local commercial r very narrow minded, racist and old fashioned.
I like to talk to all kinds of people all over the world. N learn about different cultures n countries. It's wonderful. Without the internet we wud all be stuck in our local tribes n fear the outsiders.
I am at heart an introvert and love solitude. Very interesting topic- I’ve been thinking about it this week.
When I am going through a period of deeper awakening or expansion- I intuitively limit my socialising. And then I feel much more light and energised after, where I’m more in the mood for it again. I’m starting to notice these cycles more. So far it’s a way for me to balance it- to understand when it’s beneficial or detrimental
My job REQUIRES group/corporate think. I have tried to cultivate those responses even though I do not subscribe to them. Have to keep my job. Really boxes in authentic, personal, truthful responses from me. Plays havoc with my psyche and has required a huge amount of compartmentalization. I feel like a hooker. You are grossly mistaken about genders. I am a very attractive, professionally successful woman. But now as a mid-age woman in a job that requires group- think, I experience a great dilemma.it’s confirm in the job environment or else!

Leo, the notion that you made, basically stating that men are typically more intelligent than women, because men "talk" less, is very disappointing. Hearing this our whole lives becomes very disheartening, the "big thinkers" of the past, such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein were respected and listened to because they were men. Your voice is heard so much more easier than us for centuries. Women are the anchors to the spirit world, all naturally connected without even trying. Many times I've been in a group of men they'll talk over me, so I think you really need to re-ponder your beliefs on this one, seems mighty arrogant. The experience of loosing oneself while socializing indeed takes energy. Especially if it happens unvoluntarily and also unpredictably. I was thinking and praying about what it means to loose ones authentic values, in the moment of socializing. One thought that came to my mind was the experience of making a mistake or in some way not living up to my own standards and values, as a trigger point for experiencing that I'm no longer aligned to my values. Another thougt was the feelings of disgust that can appear when other people don't live up to my values.
So, you can ask yourself these questions: how should people treat each other? What truth do you believe in? What is the deepest truth ethics that is sustainable to build your life upon? How do you want to be in the presence of others? And how do you want others to behave?
Now, I believe that it is impossible to always live up to those standards for either you or others (if you don't have low standards, which I doubt that you have). But if you feel like you loose your authentic self or your values, that is a) going to make you very conscious and alert and b) making you perceive all these mistakes, flaws etc in a conscious way.
Not living up to your values (even if it's you or the other who don't live up to them) can then make you feel unworthy or dumb. But we also know that it is impossible to live up to them all the time. If you think it is possible, it is only by pride for a ahort while. But of course you are not a person taking pride. That is not your value. But even though, we all sometimes take pride as our solution, even though that's not our ideal or will. And that is not the end of the road. Now there is potential for all of us. I would encourage you to think of your values as a lamp ahead of yourself. The lamp shine no matter what you do. And you keep it in your heart, so it will keep shining. Even if you or one another person fails, the lamp still shines. Maybe some people neglect that the lamp still shines within your heart and are looking of you as though you were a mistake. But you are not. If you fail or perceive someone elses flaws, the lamp will still shine. You will always be entrusted with new beginnings. And each time you will strengthen your inner soul. That will help you to not loose yourself next time. In this way we can interact with others despite that we are going to feel unworthy. Because if we do, the lamp still shines. And here is the deep stuff: it shines because of it's fuel: love, forgiveness and reconciliation. That is why you should keep it in your heart. The one who says "I am the way and the light" is the lamp in this metaphor. And that is one man that have given me so much in life. Jesus died on the cross and his blood was shed for all of us because in him there is love, forgiveness and recolciliation. That is our proof that he loves us and never look at us as unworthy. He shines on us and makes us righteous because of the lamp in his heart that gives us life. That is why the light can not be overcome (as it says in the bible). You are never unworthy in Jesus name and in his eyes. Trust the light and he will rise you up, as he himself was risen from the dead to God's throne in heaven. "You shall be with me in paradise" /Jesus. God bless you with his light and love that endures forever. "TTL" (=trust the light)
I would like to add that there have been just as many female geniuses as there has been male geniuses throughout history, their ideas were simply not listened to or taken seriously, so we have either not heard of them, or they never got the chance they deserved to be recognized.

Besides the large majority of geniuses being male, they also have a 5 years shorter life expectancy due to higher work related stress, making up 93% of work place fatalities, 92% of deaths due to war, 76% of suicides and homicides, 55% of DV victims, 23% victims of r ape and SA at the hands of a woman accompanied by no legal due process, getting 10-63% more prison time for the same crimes, 81% of homelessness, getting significantly less illness funding, 40% less chances to be adopted and so on.
These facts do not make me feel like a 'bigger man' that will conquer the universe and win against all odds or something. They make me feel betrayed by the female collective (never trusted other men to begin with) and make me want to unalive myself.

i love how people say that you need to be kinda over 16 or 18 to be in your waking life-because a kid who is 15 will never probably understand what he is saying because we as kids do tend to be a lot more social in our lives and never really get those chances to be alone with ourselves and think about life and meaning etc.

Thanks Leo for creating another authentic video! This was helpful for me as I have always preferred being alone than in groups. It has helped me a lot with creativity and ‘original thought’ which I think is divine thought that is expressed when one is clear of unconscious thought patterns. I used to think it was selfish to want to be alone most of the time but this has helped clarify that for me. I do feel that socialising is good to some degree as it challenges us to share our truth and be accepting of others without taking on their beliefs. Very insightful, thank you 🙏
