It's an old school Liverpool accent Diane. Heard in the 1950's and 60's. The one that is heard now which began to develop in the 1980's, is painful to listen to...and I'm from there :)
He is charming to listen to. He is so down to earth and cheerful. He seems like someone you would enjoy chatting with. I do have some difficulty understanding his Scottish accent
