Once you fix it, you need to add a temp sensor under the bed. If temp drops lower than 3c degrees , turn on a small fan heater that boosts it back to 6+ degrees. That'll stop it getting frozen and never expanding causing you more $'s - Hope you get it all sorted soon.
Or drain the water. I remember when I was in a rv there was no insulation no plug in heat wire tape to keep the line from busting. Guess I should not of used copper. But in any case the hose frozened over. He could try using a manual foot pump too for back up. Really don't know the whole scope but in my framing going to use a lot of Styrofoam for my van build.
yeah even just like a PC fan connecting the main part of the cabin to the "garage" area that can be switched on to blow warm air back there can be enough to make sure things don't freeze
I always find myself always waiting for your videos. I am only 21 but you've convinced me that Van Life is the way. I am not necessarily building a van but more of a massive custom DIY overlander truck. I've made the 3D model and am planning all the other stuff like electrical system and such (mechatronics engineering student here). I cannot wait. You are an inspiration Trent. Trent you're my favorite RUclipsr, I just started saving to build a rig like yours but I am in Mexico and it isn't as safe to be camping at random spots, So I'm thinking of going up to the US but life is more expensive there, Either way once I do I will be Vlogging my experience thank you for so much!
Electric heat tape on it's own dedicated circuit and insulate all piping. May want to consider a possible full wraparound skirt to delay heat transfer out/cold ingress in via the floor as well. I live in camper year round and winter and those things fixed my issues.

You should look into like putting something like a brace you can put under the bed so when you lift it and it can lock into place so you access under your bed easier in the future

Google has made a pretty unpolished feature which translates all youtube titles to your specific language, in my case german, 99% of the time the translation is very bad and doesn't really make sense. Since as a viewer you cannot disable this feature, I beg you to disable it, since it is by default enabled.

Very good advice! My Orthodontist constantly lectured me on this very thing. I caused some receded gums because of my over assisting my electric toothbrush! I eventually just stopped using it because manually brushing my teeth was a habit that my brain hand coordination couldn't break! 🙄🙄
Need to rip that stuff out and lay down some radiant barrier all around the area and insulate and then add some heating pads to keep everything above freezing when you are in areas that get really cold.

You seem genuinely at peace with just Millie but that often comes with experiencing a bad relationship or a wonderful one that was lost for some reason. Great question! Personally I gave up on external relationships for reasons similar to what you mentioned. And now I pretty much revolve around my cats!! They really enjoy my company and my efforts, and they don't argue with me nor physically abuse me--other than missing the litter boxes occasionally etc!!

Heat Cable Sir is what you need for your water - it draws around 6 amps at 12v. I have it on my external water tank piping & wrapped around my water pump - both the pipe & pump are then insulated as well to trap the cable in - it doesn't get silly hot, only 5-15c perhaps, (Its really clever stuff - it just heats up 'as much as it needs to') this then keeps my water from freezing while still being cold water and not over heated. Has worked fine down to -8 Celsius here in the UK - I have it connected to a super cheap 12v 10amp temp sensor / switch - about $5 in US money - the temp sensor is on a 1 foot wire hanging below by van to get the air temp - I've set it to turn on the heat cable at -1 - works amazing!
You should get a dirt bike or an electric bike you can mount on the back of your van! A bladder water bottle you can fold and keep also at the back for those emergencies.
All you need to do is run heat tape on your charged cold water lines and wrap in foam insulation if there’s room for it and then when you know it’s going to get cold you plug it in. It doesn’t take much to keep the lines from freezing that way. You could still do that with the frozen lines until it thaws and then JB Weld the cracked pump housing.
Just a heads up, looks like your faucet may be a Kohler? May want to swap to a Delta if you can. Certain Delta kitchen style faucets can be repaired with rubber seats, springs, and a metal ball that can be kept in a repair kit. Much more convenient for long term mobile use. Just a thought.

Actually water and electricity gets along REALLY well, like bff for life well. Sins water and electricity merge together in perfect harmony creating electrefied water. And you should not consume and/or interact with that because the electricity will keep you alive as long as its going through your body.
if you didn't leave your doors open, freezing might not be a problem. also i see that the area around your water pump doesn't look very well insulated and heated. build a 2" foam sheet insulation box to place around your water supply and pump. and make sure you run a heat duct into the box to keep it warm.
just a tip for when you are low on water, dilute some dish washing liquid in a spray bottle with water, you can use it to wash up, no need to wet the dishes and pans first, just swill them, I use it all the time. yet another great video, I'm hooked 😁

Trent, having hot water heater problems is a pill, but you would have that kind of problem even if you had your own home. Any type of things can break down, it doesn't matter what it is. I feel your water pump issue. I have a 1978 5th wheel I bought from a friend. It failed and was leaking under the floor and I didn't know it. The water leached BETWEEN the linoleum that I had covered with peel and stick vinyl flooring and rotted out the entire subfloor down to the metal pan. I tore it all out, replaced the floor supports, put in styrofoam insulation, put plywood over that and the click set vinyl floors (never again, not good for tiny spaces!). All fixed now, and I learn so much doing DIY in my RV instead of learning on my house! And remember, if it starts to freeze your water system and you're in the boonies, toss a USB rechargeable hand warmer or something down there. Oh, and I love our mug!

I just finished a cargo trailer build out into a travel trailer. There are still small details to finish, but it's basically done. Some tips, ALWAYS put your water system where it will get. heat from the unit. It doesn't have to blast hot air, just keep it above freezing. The location of your pump, and no heated air circulation is not good in any RV. Also, I have a basic Suburban propane furnace in my 18' trailer. One of those will help on really cold nights. If that's too much, get a catalytic propane heater. At least you have Pex pipe, so it won't burst if it freezes. I love to cold weather camp. That's why I super insulated my trailer.

Electric heat tape on it's own dedicated circuit and insulate all piping. May want to consider a possible full wraparound skirt to delay heat transfer out/cold ingress in via the floor as well. I live in camper year round and winter and those things fixed my issues.

You should look into like putting something like a brace you can put under the bed so when you lift it and it can lock into place so you access under your bed easier in the future

Google has made a pretty unpolished feature which translates all youtube titles to your specific language, in my case german, 99% of the time the translation is very bad and doesn't really make sense. Since as a viewer you cannot disable this feature, I beg you to disable it, since it is by default enabled.

Very good advice! My Orthodontist constantly lectured me on this very thing. I caused some receded gums because of my over assisting my electric toothbrush! I eventually just stopped using it because manually brushing my teeth was a habit that my brain hand coordination couldn't break! 🙄🙄

Need to rip that stuff out and lay down some radiant barrier all around the area and insulate and then add some heating pads to keep everything above freezing when you are in areas that get really cold.

You seem genuinely at peace with just Millie but that often comes with experiencing a bad relationship or a wonderful one that was lost for some reason. I lost my husband when he was only 34 from cancer. I know about loss and how it changes you. I pray for safe travels for you and enjoy watching your adventures! Can't wait to see the new rig! Great question! Personally I gave up on external relationships for reasons similar to what you mentioned. And now I pretty much revolve around my cats!! They really enjoy my company and my efforts, and they don't argue with me nor physically abuse me--other than missing the litter boxes occasionally etc!!
I hope to film the new build. I love watching van builds, especially when you get to see the person who will actually use them, not just sell.

Heat Cable Sir is what you need for your water - it draws around 6 amps at 12v. I have it on my external water tank piping & wrapped around my water pump - both the pipe & pump are then insulated as well to trap the cable in - it doesn't get silly hot, only 5-15c perhaps, (Its really clever stuff - it just heats up 'as much as it needs to') this then keeps my water from freezing while still being cold water and not over heated. Has worked fine down to -8 Celsius here in the UK - I have it connected to a super cheap 12v 10amp temp sensor / switch - about $5 in US money - the temp sensor is on a 1 foot wire hanging below by van to get the air temp - I've set it to turn on the heat cable at -1 - works amazing!

You should get a dirt bike or an electric bike you can mount on the back of your van!
A bladder water bottle you can fold and keep also at the back for those emergencies.
All you need to do is run heat tape on your charged cold water lines and wrap in foam insulation if there’s room for it and then when you know it’s going to get cold you plug it in. It doesn’t take much to keep the lines from freezing that way. You could still do that with the frozen lines until it thaws and then JB Weld the cracked pump housing.
Just a heads up, looks like your faucet may be a Kohler?
May want to swap to a Delta if you can. Certain Delta kitchen style faucets can be repaired with rubber seats, springs, and a metal ball that can be kept in a repair kit. Much more convenient for long term mobile use. Just a thought.

Actually water and electricity gets along REALLY well, like bff for life well. Sins water and electricity merge together in perfect harmony creating electrefied water. And you should not consume and/or interact with that because the electricity will keep you alive as long as its going through your body.
You could and should also get heat tape for the water pipes. Guess you also could wrap the pump with it to make sure it doesn't freeze!

if you didn't leave your doors open, freezing might not be a problem. also i see that the area around your water pump doesn't look very well insulated and heated. build a 2" foam sheet insulation box to place around your water supply and pump. and make sure you run a heat duct into the box to keep it warm.
just a tip for when you are low on water, dilute some dish washing liquid in a spray bottle with water, you can use it to wash up, no need to wet the dishes and pans first, just swill them, I use it all the time. yet another great video, I'm hooked 😁

Trent, having hot water heater problems is a pill, but you would have that kind of problem even if you had your own home. Any type of things can break down, it doesn't matter what it is. Some things will always need fixing. That being said, I just love watching you and Millie. Millie is so sweet and well behaved. Y'all be safe. God Bless ❤️

I feel your water pump issue. I have a 1978 5th wheel I bought from a friend. It failed and was leaking under the floor and I didn't know it. The water leached BETWEEN the linoleum that I had covered with peel and stick vinyl flooring and rotted out the entire subfloor down to the metal pan. I tore it all out, replaced the floor supports, put in styrofoam insulation, put plywood over that and the click set vinyl floors (never again, not good for tiny spaces!). All fixed now, and I learn so much doing DIY in my RV instead of learning on my house! And remember, if it starts to freeze your water system and you're in the boonies, toss a USB rechargeable hand warmer or something down there. Oh, and I love our mug!

A new build is super exciting, but its somewhat bittersweet that well have videos of you in a new van not too long from now. o7 to the old van.
I just finished a cargo trailer build out into a travel trailer. There are still small details to finish, but it's basically done. Some tips, ALWAYS put your water system where it will get. heat from the unit. It doesn't have to blast hot air, just keep it above freezing. The location of your pump, and no heated air circulation is not good in any RV. Also, I have a basic Suburban propane furnace in my 18' trailer. One of those will help on really cold nights. If that's too much, get a catalytic propane heater.
At least you have Pex pipe, so it won't burst if it freezes.
I love to cold weather camp. That's why I super insulated my trailer.
