- We checked out the Holiday Park we lived in in the morning and headed towards Hastings. One night rent for the stay was $120, which was reasonable during the summer holiday time. Please keep in mind that the facilities are limited in this stay without any wifi. In Hasting, we had seen Arataki Honey, which is worth visiting. There is no entry fee to visit and taste honey. The staff there are very helpful and friendly. You can buy honey from there with cheap price. Te Mata Peak is almost a 10 minutes drive from Hastings city and its a nice hilly lookout which is worth visiting especially at sun set or sun rise time. From there, we headed towards Palmerston North, which is 166km far away and took around 2.15hrs to drive. On the way we visited the windmills after Dennevirke. Palmerstone North is a midland city in the North Island of NZ and its a quiet city which doesn't have many places to visit. However, we have seen a few places there including the city square and The Victoria Esplanade Park.
