    Hey Amber, I know its confidential but would you mind sharing me the idea about the payment structure, like what do they pay you as an intern and after when you get permanent ? Loved your video ^_^

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад +3

      Hey! Usual pay for an intern is around £18,000 a year but sometimes internships are less or completely unpaid so it really depends! Starting salaries for event planners are around £22-24,000 but can get around £40,000 if you are planning huge events and have lots of experience ☺️ hope that helps!

    I’ve been looking into going into event management for university when I finish school!! Is it ok if I ask some questions?
    What are usually your hours?
    Is there many job opportunities when you finish your degree?
    Is it stressful??
    What are some skills you suggest learn while in high school to help with event planning??
    Also when you get home do you have the option to switch off and not have to think about work?
    Thank you 💕

      Hey Sophie!
      I have have 8 hours of uni a week which was 2 hours mon-thurs but your timetable changes every year. For every hour in uni you supposed to do 3 hours independent study but honestly and don’t think anyone does!
      There are sooo many job opportunities. Events management is a mix of business, economics, PR and events. I’ve seen a lot of people go into marketing, office management, project management, event sales, event coordinator etc etc
      Yes it can be stressful but I think that’s the same with any degree to be honest.
      I would suggest any business courses, time management and maybe look into essay writing because there is a lot of that
      If you are on top of your work and put in enough hours in the library you can definitely switch off when you come home. When you get a job it’s a little more tricky but I guess it just depends on how demanding your role is
      Hope that helps 💛💛

    Hi Amber! I am a high school student and I've recently been super interested in your field. I would really appreciate it if I could ask you a couple questions too!
    What is your uni major?
    Are you obtaining your MBA?
    What is the difference between being an event manager and planner? Is it possible to be an event manager that also does the planning?
    How long do you need to do an internship before getting an official position?

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад +1

      Hi sure thing!
      My degree is Events Management
      I have no idea what an MBA is 😂
      An event manager handles everything pre, during and after the event with sales etc. A planner only handles the pre-event without sales
      You can 100% be a event manager and planner - that’s the most common thing.
      You don’t need an internship but it always helps, I would recommend at least 6 months
      Hope that helps!

    Hello Amber, I find you extremely inspirational and I would love to become an event manager as I am very interested in it and love all things to do with it. I am currently finishing high school and I struggle heavily with anxiety and panic so college and university is not an option for me unfortunately. Would I be able to become a well earning event manager if I do 1-4 years of work experience in an internship or do I have to have more qualifications ? Also i plan for this to be my life long career so after working for 20 years what am I most likely to be earning ? Ps.I live in Bedfordshire so not London. It would mean honestly so much/ a lot if you could reply to this !!!

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад

      Thanks so much! That’s amazing! You can definitely become an event manager without qualifications as long as you have some good experience. As for your earnings it depends what sector of events you go into but after 20 years you could be on anything from £30-£40,000 depending on your skills ☺️ hope that helps and good luck x

      Amber G.Taylor Thank you so much !!! You don’t understand how much this helps me as I wasn’t sure if I would be able to be able to do a job that I would love without qualifications because of my mental health disorders. I know this sounds silly but I feel so emotion and very reassured that my mental health can’t stop me from being happy, thank you so much for your kind words of reassurance x

    Hii..I am a event management student. I need your help. I have to write a internship report but I didn't complete my internship because of lockdown in india. I don't know how to write internship report. Can you please guide me in this?

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад

      Hi! Have you contacted your university or tutor for advise? I’m not sure how your report is graded but I would just write a report about everything I got out of the internship before lockdown and perhaps right about lockdown as one of the challenges you had to face and what it’s taught you about the events industry

    Hi Amber,
    Your vlog is really informative.
    I am Pratik ...I am an event & wedding planner from India.
    I have a sound experience of 3 years in planning wedding across India,Thailand & Turkey and also worked in few music festivals.
    I have recently shifted to London & looking for an opportunity as an event planner or an intern.
    Will be really glad if you can help me finding one....thank you so much 😊

      Thank you! There are many online sites that show you all the internships available in london at the moment (like this one: www.indeed.co.uk/Event-Planning-Intern-jobs) so I would start there or find a company you're really interested in and email them directly!
      Hope that helps :)

    I study Events Management in 2nd year now also! I have applied for multiple 1 year placements in London for next year 2020/21! do you have any advice for moving to London , as I would be moving totally alone! did you know people there already? thank you xx

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад +1

      Oh gosh I could probably do a whole video on this! I moved to London completely alone but I was moving in to student accommodation so I had flat mates that went to the same uni, almost like built in friends haha but it is hard moving somewhere completely different by yourself.
      I would say my tips are:
      1. Find a hobby that you enjoy and speak to like-minded people there (e.g. the gym, yoga, a cafe spot)
      2. Download a friend finding app like BumbleBFF - a great way to meet friends in the city
      3. Make sure you check in with home and your old friends often to catch up and stay connected 🥰
      4. Make the most of the time you’re in the city by exploring and trying things out your comfort zone
      Hope that helps! Xx

      @@ambergtaylor ooo yes that could be a useful vid for me and others too! - ah okay, did you already go to Uni in London? (im coming from the north hopefully if my applications go well) - do you know if as an intern you are allowed to move into student accommodation instead of finding your own flat / spare room . sorry for all the questions! . p.s thank u for making these sorts of videos its really useful xx

    • @ambergtaylor
      @ambergtaylor  4 года назад

      No I moved to London from Bournemouth for university ☺️ I think if you are doing an internship as part of your degree you could but I’m not 100% sure, if it’s just an internship probably not. But you could definitely move into a shared apartment with young professionals! Thanks for watching 💗 xx

      Hi, I’ve never been to Canada so I’m not sure. With the virus there isn’t much demand for event managers at all right now but it may be worth checking Canadian job sites and seeing what comes up 😊
