That happened to us, too...only it was the first time we'd ever raised chicks, and we had them IN THE HOUSE because it took forever that year for the weather to warm up. One day we were in our living room and suddenly the weirdest, most unexpected sounds came from my sewing room (where the brooder was). It was pretty funny for a while, until I spent fruitless weeks trying to find him a home ☹ Roosters are not allowed in city limits here, and I just couldn't find him a home no matter how hard I tried. In the end, I had to let him go to someone who was going to (very humanely) process him for their freezer. It broke my heart and is the reason I will never get chicks again unless I can know with 100% certainty that they are all female. I'm glad you get to keep yours! Have a happy life, Mr. Rooster!
Definitely I totally agree with you, it’s very hard emotionally knowing that outcome of the roosters. You tried everything possible so I command you for that. When you heard to little rooster trying to let his crow out, you must have been like oh no 😬
Howdy Brother- well, I guess maybe you need a rooster to compete with your neighbors lol. We don’t have a rooster now and I kinda miss hearing one crow. Take care and God bless
No it’s cray, I got two Buff Orphington’s that were straight runs and ended up being hens, but this New Jersey Giant wasn’t, he fell through the cracks
Okay,, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I was today years old when I realized the that a rooster is a chicken and a chicken can be a rooster (male) or hen (female). 😂😂 I don't know where I've been living all these years. 😂😂 I thought all chickens were chickens and they all laid eggs. 😂😂 I thought a rooster and hen was two other different types of birds. 😂😂 Don't blame me, blame the public school system. 😂😂
@@got2dream1 I didn’t eat him but I had to eliminate him do to his aggressiveness towards me. He was beating me down every time I entered the chicken yard, he forgot that I was top dog around here. It hurt me to do it but I had no other choice
Is it safe to assume you don’t have any issues from hawks? I have a wooded area behind my house as well ( I’m seriously considering getting chickens) but I’m afraid of hawks.
I have hawks, the chickens run for cover anytime they see one in the area and my rooster is always on guard. I’ve had chickens for years and never have lost one to a hawks. One year I lost about 10 to a fox 🦊 and it was very hurtful
Congratulations! I hope he'll behave and not showout, ole Ike was a trip.
Yeah he better stay low key and not act up!
I like Smoke. He will just need to behave. Have a great day, Brother Bull.
He best be on his best behavior Em

That’s what I was thinking, hopefully he works out
Love your food forest!
Hopefully the rooster is a nice rooster. God bless! 💕
He already has a strike against him, he seems to be rough/mean to the girls
Aww man, was it a straight run? He's beautiful El Toro
No it’s cray, I got two Buff Orphington’s that were straight runs and ended up being hens, but this New Jersey Giant wasn’t, he fell through the cracks
I ended up with 2 roosters first time I bought 6 from Tractor supply
Lol a few years back I bought 6 and end up with 1, I named him Ike
@@TheBullsGarden Ike is definitely a very appropriate name for a rooster. 😂😂
I was wondering why he was the only one with a more pronounced comb awhile ago🤣Smoke is a good name for him though🫶🏽
Yes your right his comb stood out along with his height
Lovely name choice 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🐓🐓🐓💫👋🏽💎🦋🇬🇧
Yeah I thought smoke was cool name
The vent always tells you from what i understand. The roosters will have a bubble when you check it. The layers will just have a slit
Awesome thank you so much, much appreciated my friend
Smoke is beautiful i hope he is not like Ike especially since he is giant😊
Definitely I’m really liking him
Ahh man that not good but you have such a good heart 😊
I’m going to give him a chance, hopefully he turns out to be a good rooster
Tractor supply Jak my whole order up, they gave me all roosters 😢 trying to work with another farm er to get 40 hens.
Tractor Supply sent you a Mexican mariachi 🤣
🤣🤣

Lol, them rooster will blend in when they’re small until they start crowing. So it’s the public schools huh🤣
