Fabulous car, and what a nice bloke that owns it. I love that it’s discreet and he’s not showing off by covering it in wings, huge vents and painting it pearlescent orange
This is exactly the type of content I want to see more of. Brilliant!!! It's just fantastic to see people passionate about pushing the boundaries and bringing new tech to old cars. :)
One of the best car designs ever with one of the best NA Honda Vtec engine”s, can’t fail really! Shows where we’re going wrong with certain ideas in the modern era too imo. Ideal B-road car for me and I’m taller than you. Great viewing PP.
Absolutely epic. Had an 850 mini 40 years ago souped with twin carbs and 215 tyres. Want want one again. Only thing is the wide tyres for a light car didn't have good grip on the wet, l spun off a few times, went back to 165 tyres for better grip. Look at Monte Carlo rally minis, all had narrow tyres for grip. Aside, congratulations on building this fantastic mini.
I bought one as my first car, it is still now the most fun car I've ever driven, it's like a go kart. But get ready to spend 3 times the money you think you will need to spend, it's a money pit. Still the best car I've ever owned
Mad on a track, crazy on the road ! Absolutely insane in the wet !! The mini handles like a go-kart but is tricky at the limit. With the engine in the rear, I’m guessing it’ll be like a classic 911. Understeer, then massive oversteer. It’ll hang on until it doesn’t, then, because of the short wheelbase, come around very suddenly and quickly. Thrilling to be sure, but not for the average driver. Reminds me of the Giocattolo in the 80s. A mid-mounted 5ltr V8 in a front engined V6 Alfa Romeo Coupé. Sweet!
I had a Alfa 1750 GTV when I was in my 20s that handled like that. like you were on rails, but if you pushed it too far would let go the rear very quickly. Great car I wish I hadn't sold it they are worth a small fortune now.
Oh wow 🤩 Your face was a picture. We’ve known Z Cars for a while and they produce incredible rear engined Classic Mini’s. This one certainly blew your doors off 😎
Pete Pete Pete, a mini is a mini not something you transplant everything other than a shell to cover the internals. While I applaud the engineering and application and the thrill of its ability, which is very impressive. The Project Binki Mini was enjoyable to watch by the Bad Obsession crew putting it together, yet to be finished though. All good. Cheers and thank you once again
LOVE the understated grey/black. Fantastic car ! I would love to see move videos of that thing ripping around, on a track. Congrats to the architect of that beast. Cheers !
Absolutely cool. I am a sucker for classic minis but this is on another level. Definitely considering getting one. Great channel. . .south out from South Africa
Amazing classic Mini, you forget how small they really are, that must have been pretty scary driving around in the wet conditions . What an amazing car well done that man 😀😀
Absolutely brilliant. My first car was a mini and I thought that was great. This must be something else. I’d love to hear more about the build and engineering and the other cars in Daves collection.
Brilliant video, shame it was wet, but the potential for that car's performance is massive. Killer sound and handling. I bet the smell of Adrenalin was huge.
Living in America, every older mechanic has a V8 car of some kind with a carburetor. I've seen a million old muscle cars, and trucks with a plain V8. They sound good, but they are all the same. I have never in my life seen a Mini like this in real person in the States, or if I have, it was maybe only once as a kid. The custom cars like this, which have custom engines, are so much cooler than any factory V8 car with a standard style engine. There's something so special about cramming the wrong engine into a car, and re-engineering the entire car to make it work. And the sound!? WOW. This thing is awesome. The sound is better than any 4 cylinder, and certainly better than the Subaru EJ25 version..
Great video! What a superb car. I love the way he’s kept it classic looking but made it into an animal. Even down to the modern grey paintwork. Look forward to seeing his next project 😀
Love it! That is so cool! Classic minis are such good platforms as they are from factory, and this one has just been taken to the next level! I want one :)
Years ago I rode in an Austin-Healey Bugeye Sprite which was a modified road rocket like this. It was insanely fast and as an open top car, it was incredible...
Beautiful machine bud sounds epic 😈👌🏻, really enjoyed the video , being a big Honda enthusiast always nice to see the k series in different machines .. just about see the k series in most things now . Says a lot really. Cheers for the content mate .
Slightly different path to this one but I think the future for electric power units in retro cars (and some new cars) is promising. Pricey to convert right now, but as supply improves and experience, we should see a wave of sleeper cars from a bygone era detroying some modern stuff.
@Mark Brown oh don't get me wrong, I'm with you, I'm struggling to buy a new car because they are all so dull; usual 4 pot 2 litres etc, but as a concept I can see it being popular
I know nothing about cars yet I love my Ford Fusion I’m slowly modding my own car in looks and performance I’m trying to be more hands on. I was quarantined at home I was bored saw a good opportunity to work on my car I’m glad I’m learning and I’m excited to.
Pete your look of shock had me laughing 😆. No one will resto mod a tesla in ten years but a mini thats another thing. Well done Pete fantastic content...
I'm in Oz now I'm going to search for a mini, beautiful engineering, what a machine. Insane power to weight with what I guess would be Porsche 911 feeling of rear dropping down when on the throttle. G'DAY FROM OZ 👍🇦🇺🇬🇧
Bow down to the masters. Every factory Z car is an unequivocal embodiment of craftsmanship, commitment to excellence and boundless conversion imagination. Masters of the art. 🙏💯🙏💯
Big Honda fan here and what a great job on the build, great sound coming from that Vtec, I had a ‘05 S2000 which was a blast to drive but this might out do it. I’ve always wanted to do the same build (engine and rwd) to a ‘87 CRX Si
That looks just stupendous! I used to have an S2000 & so know what an amazing engine the V-Tec is, I’ve always wondered what one would be like in a classic Mini. Also, have always been interested in how a RWD Mini would perform. We need to set up a side by side comparison in the dry next summer Peter! :-)
Many moons ago, I owned a Civic VTi-S (only 500 were imported to the UK) which was equipped with a LSD from the factory and it's that car that learnt me how to drive a FWD properly due to the steering feel. Unfortunately, a diesel VW Passat bloody T-Boned me and wrote it off.
Great build man,the colour combo and vtec kicked in yoooo.now i wish i have kept my honda civic em1 and not scrapped it,my 11 year old son loved that car,he cried when i scrapped it.😓😥
Love the vtec. Revs like a b...ard. I had a new fn2 and it would red line at 160mph. No clutch needed, just bounced the limiter for quicker gear change. Mental in a mini. Poss a supercharger to 380bhp would be suicidal.
I recall a Mini racing in the early 60s that had a dohc Lotus Cortina engine and hand built gearbox replacing the BMC engine! So much power through the steering wheels it had difficulty with corners, ah memories, but this is nice...

The whine of the engine, The Crackle and Pop of the Exhaust. Brilliant. Just Brilliant.

the engine sounds amazing. that thing seems properly fast. The owner's collection is straight up my alley 😄

The modern era is dictated to by a few things- safety standards, and cost sharing.
For real. Newer cars are super heavy, big, low rev, turboed unreliable garbage. It's not hard to make a good car like this.
What a fantastic mini, never ceases to amaze me the engineering ability of people to marry all the parts together. Great video again, thank you 😁
My pleasure Jim 👍

This is an epic car. Little or not. The aesthetics meet the beast performance to create a not so tiny monster. Great content, great car.
Thanks 🙏🏻

This one, maybe?
I have always wanted one.
That engine sure sounds mean!, lovely job.

yes certainly is one of the coolest classic mini's, wicked, thanks Dave and Pete
Glad you enjoyed it mate. The reason I do RUclips 👍
I love classic minis since I was a child and my father had one... Just the looks, even without the silly engine. Love it.

That good to hear 😷
Like at 6:50 when his eyes start darting about like pingpong balls and he first starts to fill his pants.... I could see the smile from a mile away!

When you are standing alongside this car the Mini looks like a corgi car mate 😊😊😊😊
It was tiny 😂

I agree but it’s interesting that GM is introducing the Chevrolet Performance eCrate system soon and it won’t stop with just the one.
i think some of the magic would be lost if you couldnt hear that high revving vtec engine behind you, electric would feel very muted.
