How to paint Uruk-hai Warriors

- In this video I'll be showing how I paint the Uruk-hai Warriors with sword and shield for MESBG. They're great looking miniatures and a lot of fun to paint. The Isengard army I'm working on currently is the most fun I've had doing an army in a while.

I like this a lot
Saruman approves. :)
Bravo
Cheers KingGit, very much appreciated! :)
I love these figures. Need to get my ones painted and get a game sorted!
Do you have Rohirrim? I'm defo up for a game, not got them all painted yet, but have an Isengard army ready to go!
I just got the Isengard Battlehost set so this video is about to be rewatched many times over.. 😁 can't wait to paint them all
Such a great, and great looking force! Really enjoyed painting them so far. There's a few Uruk hai vids on the channel, scouts, standard bearer, armour, white hand, and berserker so far. Have the shaman and captain on the desk to paint too. :)
Awesome, heaps more for me to watch then!
Wooo! Cheers Rose! :)
Will totally be using this methode to paint my Orruk cruel boyz! That cast armour methode is amazing!
Cheers Olrik, very much appreciated! :) It was the best method I could come up with, was really happy with how it came out! :)
Love the flesh! totes stealing that for my uruk-hai!
Cheers BDavies24, very much appreciated! :) It certainly does the trick, very pleased with how my Uruks have been turning out so far :-)
Any tips on how you made the base please? Pretty neat job there 🙌
Cheers @Jaimelobodj! It's just a 50/50 mix of Stirland Mud and Stirland Battlemire (I find one too thick and one too thin), then a few highlights, I think Mournfang Brown maybe? Then a couple of tufts to make it pretty! :)
I really like your painting style, great job on this Uruk-hai
Cheers Kim, very much appreciated! :)
I came here to see how you would do the handprint, and it came together beautifully!
Cheers Ethan, very much appreciated. :) I’ve done a stand alone vid of the hand print too that covers it in detail. :)
What a great looking model man. Really nice. That armour is spot on!
Cheers Bjorn, very much appreciated! Working on the rest of them at the moment, so hopefully some warband shots soon! :)
@@BrushandBoltgun nice. Looking forward to seeing them all together.
Wanting to start on the character models too, have a few for them, and the standard, etc. An ace looking army.
I really like the result. Great video! Subbed.
Cheers Ben, very much appreciated! :) I've got an Isengard force I'm working on, so have a fair few different miniatures to paint up. Got the shaman, standard and captain to paint up on my desk. :)
@@BrushandBoltgun Can't wait to watch them! :-)
Really nice job boss : )
Cheers Mr Lint, very much appreciated! There's more Uruks to come! :)
Nice one Rob. I've been watching more lotr bet reps and really enjoying them.
I've not played it yet (because of lockdowns) but the rules look ace, and I really like the miniatures. :)
Any of them caught your eye? :)
Yeah the ones on the horses is it Rohan.
That’s the one, they’re stunning too! I have some of them to paint up from the Pelennor fields box. Picked up Eomer and Eowyn too... I couldn’t not! Haha :)
When I was a kid I used to make up fake isenguard army lists. for the White Hand!
Haha! I love the miniatures for it. Trying to get an Isengard army ready for the summer so there'll probably be a few characters and heroes coming up too :)
Can you put list of paint up please
Hi Leah, thanks for watching! :) There’s a full list of paints in the description below the video. :)
Nice paint scheme to follow, can the same skin colour be applied to uruk-hai berserkers
Cheers Full, very much appreciated! :) I have done, it works just as well on them as on the warriors. :) There’s a video in the Isengard playlist on here, and the uruk-hai standard. :)
Was that Black Templar contrast neat or thinned down?
Hey Dave, thanks for watching! :) It was straight out the pot :)
@@BrushandBoltgun that's great. Thank you 😁
Algorithm manipulation for ya bud, allways good watching your vids
Cheers Range, very much appreciated! :) Can’t get my head round how the algorithms work! 🤣🤣🙌
What did you undercoat these with man ? and what did you use for the basing material ?
Hey MrAndyyybee, thanks for watching. :) I think it was either TT Combat White, CItadel Spray White (not sure of the name) or something similar. Ideally I would have used black, but I'd ran out and didn't have the money to pick up a new can. :)
The basing is just Citadel Stirland Mud/Battlemire drybrushed with Mournfang brown, with a couple of tufts of grass from (I think) Army Painter. :)
@@BrushandBoltgun I don't know I think the light colour was a better shout to start with after all because the contrast paints are a bit more punchy =)
True enough! :) I’m always super aware of missing bits with a white undercoat, I think a black one is a little more forgiving! 🤣🙌
Which prime did you use ?
Hey Renato, thanks for watching! :) It was either white from Citadel, TT Combat or Halfords. :)
Nice, have you done a rider of Rohan yet, I'd like to see your take at one of those.
Cheers The Black Knight, very much appreciated. Not yet, I’ve done Eowyn on foot, but not tackled the Rohirrim yet. :)
I am from the future, and he has!! Ooooh so spooky
Hi rob, what colour do you undercoat the Uruk hai before painting
Hey John, thanks for watching. :) It was sprayed with contrast primer Grey Seer! I would have undercoated in black but had run out. :)
@@BrushandBoltgun thanks !
No primer?
Hey there Nanette, thanks for watching! The mini was sprayed black (or red, not sure which one this is!) to prime/undercoat and the paint just directly onto that. Works a treat :)
@@BrushandBoltgun I watched it again. You painted it directly on the grey plastic figure. But it is still a good tutorial. :)
Nope, it’s actually Grey Seer contrast primer on this one. If I run out I’ll use whatever’s in the cupboard :) Not painted on bare plastic since the 90s :)
@@BrushandBoltgun oh, it looked like pure plastic😅
I painted my metal minis also directly in the 90s 😁
Haha! To be fair I did double take when I checked the vid because it does look like it’s just bare plazzy! Haha. Man, metal minis had their time, but paint chipping on them was a nightmare. Plastic with halfords matt lacquer means I can crab them in a handful and they won’t chip. Saves so much touch up time :)
