- Hi everyone, I really wanted to mod a keyboard for my boyfriend, so here is a video of me modding a keyboard for him :3 This keeb turned out really well! One of my best modded keeb ✦
I was really debating between the macaron84 and the rk84, and I really do regret my decision. The macaron does look prettier, but since I cannot really mod it, nor use my custom cable with it, it just collects dust rn... I switch keebs multiple times throughout the day, so to have to use a different cable for the macaron is a little bit annoying, therefore I barely use it nowadays. :c And the macaron is more expensive without having bluetooth and 2.4g. The rgb lights on the macaron is prettier though! Just through I should mention it :3

I bought this keyboard to and switched out the switches for Akko Lavender V3 Pro. Then I bought a Rk84 foam kit from Etsy and put lube on the stabilizers, wow what a difference it makes also switched out keycaps for pudding ones and love my keyboard. Royal Kludge made a very good keyboard with all the features it comes with. Nice video very relaxing and like the music you chosen. Stay safe 😊👍
From my personal experience, I've used a RK keyboard last year. The only thing I can say about it is that the normal keys sounds about normal (average), but the spacebar sounds bad compared to the other keys. Anyways, good video!

@@Irmange is a orange/yellow one, is meant to resist heat even over 300c

I just bought some foam for my RK84 and when i opened it, i saw that it already has foam in it directly from the factory :O . It even has foam between the plate and pcb. I guess I only have to do the tapemod now :)
I think the USB hub on the back is actually very useful to put the dongle of the mouse in!
Please do a 30 minute ASMR of this since this is your first keeb build using black switch^_^

i got the o-rings from aliexpress, but the specific product is not available anymore T^T, just search for o-rings on aliexpress, maybe you find something similar.
regarding the stock-lubed akko switches. i got the matcha greens which are suppose to be lubed, but they were still quite scratchy :c not sure if i was just unlucky with my batch tho.

ooooo nice o-ring mod! i tried an o-ring mod but i wasn't able to get the screws into the standoffs
yea, you have to press them down a litte so they grab into the thread, or maybe thinner o-rings help

When doing the keyboard sound tests, can you please do some finger rolls on all the rows after tapping the outside keys. Flurples does it and it adds so much. Just a tip to make your videos even better. Thanks

just out of curiosity, what makes the macaron 84 harder to mod? i have the yunzii kc84s and was able to mod it without much hassle but it could just be a slightly different model :') really nice video btw
You cannot use pe foam bc the plate is strongly attached to the pcb, it doesn't use screws so you cannot use o-rings, but even if you want, it won't fit since the upper case has to be clipped into the bottom case. On the rk84 they have a top case part as well, but I feel like it has some room so the o-rings do not get compressed too much, therefore still providing enough cushioning and isolation.

I also want to mod one of my keebs, but it has a battery like this one (for Bluetooth). How do I make sure it’s safe to mod and won’t catch fire ?
if you want to be really safe then do not cover the battery with foam (don't put foam on the battery). Some ppl mentioned tape mod can lead to that as well, but my bfs keeb is fine though (I used 3 layers of tape 🤷🏻♀️)

Is it actually this loud? Cuz i modded mine with stock switches and stock keycaps but they sound so light but its thocky just not as loud as this one
I was wondering if you faced any interference with the keycaps you bought and if they are on the thicker or thinner side of keycaps. I have an RK myself and I've been wanting to buy cherry-profile keycaps but I keep reading stuff online about interference and have been hesitant to do so.
it's been a while since i build this, but i cannot remember having interference with cherry profile keycaps, or the interference was not that noticeable. nowadays there are many switches which you can use for north facing configuration, without having interferences. gateron has a few or you can use long pole switches

pretty new with modding the keyboard, any advise on switch compatibility? got same kewb and currently got some brown ones, i wanna get some red for a bit more tactile feel.
reds arent tactile and most switches work with most keyboards so i wouldnt worry

there will be interference but i cannot remember them being extremely noticeable. not sure about jelly black, but i know that the jelly pink and white have interferences.
