Well, they stopped hound hunting, limited trapping, introduced wolves, eliminated spring bear hunts and introduced grizzlies. Seems to be a pattern here, a goal in mind.
I couldn't agree with you more about the Washington State Game Commission . Sadly , they are hand selected politicians who have zero idea or real-world experience . They seem to run on feelings, not facts or science . Keep up the great work, Ray Livingston !!!
They are trying to make it like Calif. The other reason is because they are being sued by animal rights groups to stop hunting for everything. So good, luck with keeping things going. I have a friend in Calif who shot a cougar that was killing his dog, and they gave him a 5k ticket because they are protected. He went to court and win but it cost him 2k but he didn't lose his hunting rights. I live in Twin Falls ID and you can buy multiple tags each yr and they are $12 each
I lived in Cali, they should be sued for the abomination they call law! I live in Oregon now and at least you can harvest two a year here. ODFW isn’t very upright either!
That is a lot of cougars! I am in the PNW and keep hearing of cougars sightings in my area, some wuthin a KM of where I live. Time to get a game call and a tag
Now that I've listened to all of it. The decisions in california since the 90 's were strictly political. They state government has so successfully demeaned hunting and fishing at a social level since the 90's that in 2018 I observed day use fee kiosks in areas I grew up in that never use to have them. The State had lost so much revenue thru the loss of excise taxes from hunting and fishing sales that it started day use fee areas in the sierras. Two Generations now mostly lost due to conditioning. Its about crushing hunting/fisging culture any sense of unity, liberty, freedom and of course, gun culture as they like to put it.
They want to reduce interest in hunting so later they have a better argument that guns are only used for bad things. Also if you can’t hunt you probably won’t buy a gun.
The problem is, we need more folks like you on the west side. If we get more voices over here than make sense to what is healthy ecosystem, then they have a better chance to be heard. Unfortunately it's the west side that makes the rules in washington
Agree with your comments concerning the commission. I have been in SE Washington since the 1960’s and the reduction in ungulates in this area is severe to say the least. Thanks and would love to visit as I call and hunt cats every winter.
I live near where you harvested the cat by Deep Lake. There is at least one more that visits my neighbor 2 or 3 times per week. It appears to have cubs as I think I can see nipples on the ring video. Nice job by the way. Thanks!
There was a young man killed in Ca recently by a mountain lion. When Ca started to over regulate cat hunting this also had a terrible impact on the big horn sheep population. These bureaucrats have to start listening to the biologists.
Also the girls attacked in Georgetown Ca. (15 miles away only weeks before), the young man lost his life saving his brother in Cool Ca. Now we've got wolves in the same area 30m from Sacashito CA.
Ray your making sense but the commission doesn’t like sense, my wife & I recently moved to the Republic area & I’m retired and love to hunt, growing up we didn’t have the cat population that we have now in Just 50 years it’s exploded less deer& elk more predators. I’m not happy with this states agenda, keep the videos coming. Thank you
Its all about control of the people! If you're observate you've noticed the increase in predators protection and reestablishment. All with the intent of reducing or eliminating the game animals available for food. Starving people are easier to control.
Statistically one is by far more likely to die in a hunting accident than you are from a cougar attack. Promoting the killing of cougars to protect human life already has a negative return.
I highly suggest reading House bill 2434 that was proposed earlier this year for Washington State. The goal of the bill would be to disband the fish and wildlife commission and replace it with a fish and wildlife director. This obviously wouldn't solve all the problems but I believe it would be a step in the correct direction to preserving the land and wildlife in WA state.
But that isn't their agenda. Their goal is to end all hunting . And by ending the predator hunting fist because we are the smallest group ( most predator hunters incidental hunters ) ,we are the easiest to defeat them the deer and elk population reduce and the then they can end the deer and elk hunting with very little resistance. Don't let Oregon fool you we are facing the same problem in our game commission.
i have been hunting up their since i was 12 years old first years was on state land seen turkeys and the game department denied planting them up their few years later they came out and said they did . next finaly found some private land to hunt the game department denied that the deer where eating the owner hay they lie a lot and are untruest worthy 2 seasons ago seen a pack of six wolves on the private property then the wollf wathers ask me a whole bunch of question game caneras every where just for the wolves they need to stop lieing to the public and yes the deer population has declined in mass amounts. And one of the biggest changes i have seen is that the deer are bedding down closer to buildings and houses rather then bedding down else wheres.
5 cats is kind of crazy I have seen 3 cats together but never more than that. I was out bear hunting and called 2 cats into 5 yards, but it wasn't season, but I got some cool video
Seems like alotnof states latly are also tword the preservation of predator game shortening seasons lessening the bag limits I don’t get that logic at all
The only thing all these policies do is make more people willing to poach. I don't like poaching, and never condone it. But, if it continues to tighter, then people will do what they have to do.
Friends of mine were in a training session at the oak creek feeding station near Yakima, Wa. As volunteers they ride in the sightseer trucks with elk viewers and answer the peoples questions about the winter feeding program. During this training someone asked about wolves and they were told to ' just say there are none'. There is definitely an agenda, We have a woke idiot governor who is intent on taking away our second amendment rights and while at the same time increasing predators of every category, even wants to bring back grizzly bears to our state.
Hunter groups need to make voices heard at the local level. Get out to meetings and pack the rooms. It has to be fought for or we will continue to lose.
If there aren't any animals to to be hunted then you won't need to own firearms. That's what it's all about in my opinion. Randy Selby aka the real gunsmith from Wyoming talks about it. If you stop predator hunting and reintroduce more predators like wolves and grizzly there likey won't be much else to hunt.
They're not just ignorant politicians, they're active anti-hunting and fishing supporters. They won't stop until we can no longer hunt and fish in this state .
"For some reason the WDFW Commission seems to still be dead set on reducing the cougar seasons and harvest even though their biologists have recommended against it! It makes no sense at all." I'm taking this as an argument by the hunter that there will be consequences for such a reduction. This is a much needed acid test. This will either prove hunters right and then they wouldn't have to resort to fear mongering and slippery slope arguments like they often do, or it will prove them to be full of beans.
what do you know about bobcats? I would love to talk to you more about predators. Im a disabled combat vet and I do hunting fishing and trapping. I got contact info on mmy RUclips channel

Maybe we should sue for our right to harvest.

I greatly appreciate your well thought out analogy and perspective of the predator situation. We have any state of Washington.

Exactly, they react based on their feelings, unfortunately this is what this world has become. And we know what their feelings are about guns.
