    Ingredients required for making Tikka Masala Recipe- Serves 4 to 5
    For marination --
    * Prawns - 500 gm / 1 lb (after cleaning)
    * Kasmiri red chili powder - ½ teaspoon or 1 teaspoon paprika if you do not want the heat.
    * Chickpea Flour (Garbanzo bean flour)/Besan (gram flour) - 2 teaspoons heaped
    * Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
    * Oil - 1 teaspoon
    For the Tikka Masala Gravy-
    * Tomato - 1 large or 2 medium /165 gm / 6 oz
    * Onion - 1 large /175 gm / 6 oz
    * Garlic - 6 large cloves / 15 gm / 0.5 oz
    * Ginger - 2 inch * 2 inch / 20 gm / 0.7 oz
    * Tomato puree - 1 cup . Please do not use tomato sauce or tomato ketchup as they have added flavorings that may alter the actual flavor of the recipe.
    * cumin seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
    * Kashmiri red chili powder (used more for the color as it has mild heat) - 1 teaspoon heaped / 1 teaspoon paprika/ 1 teaspoon paprika and ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper.
    * Turmeric powder - ⅛ th of a teaspoon or just a tiny pinch
    * Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves) - ½ teaspoon. If you feel your kasuri methi looks limp and not crisp, just roast them a little bit in a pan (do not add any oil) on low heat to bring out that flavor.
    * Cardamom powder /elaichi powder - ¼ th teaspoon
    * Dhania powder - 1 teaspoon
    * Garam masala powder - ¼ th teaspoon
    * Oil - 3 tablespoons for frying prawns + 1 to 2 tablespoons for gravy
    * Butter - 1 tablespoon
    *Heavy Cream - ½ cup
    * Warm water to loosen up the gravy - ½ cup
    * Salt to taste
    * Sugar - 1 tablespoon / 1 tablespoon honey. Do a taste test at the end and adjust the sweetness according to your liking so add less in the beginning and add more later if required.
    For the Garnish -
    * Green bell pepper (capsicum) - 100 gm/3.5 oz/ 1 medium or half of a large one.
    * Onions

    I have to tell you, this is amazing. people won't follow it though. they don't have these spices. they might have some of them, but they don't have all of them and you need all of them. plus you have to follow this exactly or at least very close to it. I used a coffee grinder to grind the cardamon and the fungeek since I didn't have powdered. the fragrance was amazing after grinding them. the combination of the various spices all coming together, just wow. the prawns were so tender and I even used kind of old frozen prawns.of course we here in seattle get wild Alaskan ones which have a real seafood briny flavor compared to others. one of the most flavorful dishes I have ever tasted and I really like the idea of putting more fresh crunchy red onions and green bell peppers at the end. I could not believe it today, I went to my normal market to only get red onion and green peppers and incredibly, the were all out of green bell peppers. never, ever has happened before, totally out. they even have two sections. organic or not, and both were out. not one pepper left. so I had to go to another store just to get one green pepper. this curry is packed with flavor. funny yesterday, I was driving around and happened to turn on an Indian radio station which was speaking in Hindi of course and from what I could tell, they were playing punjabi music. not to everybodies taste but I liked it. some of the women have very high pitched voices but I liked it.

      So glad you liked the recipe. Thanks a lot for your appreciative comment. This is truly very delicious. Regarding the green bell peppers, I have observed this that when you are in search of an important ingredient it surprisingly vanishes. Happens to me quite frequently 😄. Good you ultimately found it in the other store.
      Thanks for all your support, Fred.

      @@CurriesWithBumbi I tried it yesterday and I really liked it a lot. Adding sugar and cream to the dish really enhanced its taste. Also loved adding the sauteed capsicum & onions to garnish the dish. Also I was able to add only tomato ketchup instead of puree and it still tasted good. The gravy had a thick consistency and lovely orangy color with green capsicum pieces here and there. This will be in my favorites list to try out often. Had a enjoyable cooking experience with this dish. Can this dish also be called Prawn Butter Masala? Thanks for sharing such a lovely recipe.

      @@sridharg3043 Thanks a lot for sending your feedback. So very happy that you liked the recipe. Butter masala is prepared in a slightly different way by first sautéing or boiling ripe tomatoes, onions and nuts and then making a purée of them and finally making a graving with that purée.
      Tomato ketchup does give a nice umami flavor to any dish.

      Sure. Actually for tikka masala tomatoes are must. You can use yogurt as an alternative to tomatoes or maybe just lemon juice at the end. You can do another thing. Purée some red bell peppers (red capsicum) in place of tomatoes. It will alter the actual taste but impart sweetness and beautiful red color like tomatoes. Thanks a lot for watching my videos. Many thanks, also, for the Chicken Rezala recipe. It sounds mouth watering and I’m looking forward to trying it. More tomato-free recipes!😊😊😊 Love them!

      Check out my chicken chaap recipe too. That also doesn’t have any tomatoes in it . I will mention in my videos when I use tomatoes whether it is optional or not .

    It doesn’t look like you deveined the prawns. For me that’s a must, otherwise wonderful recipe
