Has Freeman ever said what it was about Leonard that pushed him above Angeli? I don't understand why he is the clear cut #1. My suspicion is that it's beacuse of the NIL money they paid him.
Two Questions for Freemean: 1) After Shuler's penalty before halftime, why call the second timeout? ND was up by 11. If Miami connects on a 15-yard pass they could kick a FG to make it a one-score game. Otherwise, there wouldn't be much time for ND to do much. Have to understand the risk/reward in that situation. 2) Could you give Angeli more meaningful reps? Riley has consistently been inaccurate. Angeli has consistently been accurate - not once in a while - every time he has seen the field. ND has a good stable of running backs. There is no evidence that they can't have a decent rushing offense without Riley. It's a problem that ND is rewarding mediocrity. It's one thing if they were giving a Freshman like Carr a chance to develop. It is very different from a fourth-year starter who consistently misses easy passes. He is a career 61% passer. In his last six starts, his record is 2-4 completing 55% of his passes with 2 TD's and 5 INT's and an average of 152 passing yards per game. If you are Angeli and Minchey this isn't a recent issue. Last year ND stuck with Sam Hartman (another NIL transfer) when he played terribly. What message are you sending to these other QBs? You have to hold players accountable for their performance.
1. like it or not freeman will always read into the analytics, just make your peace with it now cuz he has shown us he won't change 2. they don't think angeli can do it over the long run, they like riley's legs a lot more than angeli's throwing ability. this is the last year with the transfer qb's since recruiting has solidified that room, at least we all hope so
Mark my words: The trick play on the kickoff is setting up a look for Louisville or another team down the road to get them out of their lanes on a fake later on.

What's this telling the other QBs, if he is that bad the other are probably thinking man I must suck if this guy is the starter. What about thier confidence? The team confidence? The good: The punter is no longer much of a conversation piece. Leonard actually CAN throw farther than ten yards. Not often, but proof of concept apparently established. The Bad: What the devil is wrong with special teams? Could we use the Band members instead? RBs were kept mostly in the closet, like Grand Jury members... Were they charging by the yard? Still no passing beyond ten yards from the line of scrimmage except for the titular TD pass. Oben AWOL apparently nearly all the time. Also...Sloppy, Tombs, real sloppy (ball handling).
There is alot of chatter out there on how Angeli struggles in practice and that holds him back. RL gives ND their best chance on the offensive side of the ball.
Wait, if RL was more accurate he wouldn’t have to run for 100 yds plus a game. Please stop excusing his lack of accuracy and very bad throws because he runs so well. Line him up as a RB and put in a QB. So tired of ND coaches renting crap QB’s for a year in lieu of coaching up the very good recruited talent sitting on the bench. And I’m tired and disappointed having to listen to you CFB pundits covering for ND coaching staff for making poor choices.
