Great show folks, sorry I was an hour late (later than you!). You guys DID come close to nailing it and your key points - pretty accurate.
Now... what do you think Deuce Knight thinks about his decision ... now? LOL
Imagine the disses and future opportunities this win gives Freeman for recruiting???
See you in Atlanta! Go Irish!

Great show guys. Thank you. I’m so happy waking up a winner again. I love this team and its incredible ability to will themselves forward. They looked so tired and uninspired in the first half and I thought to myself, “we’ve finally hit the wall.” However , Angelli scraping together the drive and Wagner saving the season with that overlooked recovery. Then we come out and I recognize the team we’ve watched the last few months. I think Freeman may have went for 2 to win in it if Greathouse hadn’t scored with so much time left. Glad it didn’t come to that. We found a way to change the complexion of the game .. Such a Grit-E Win. We are ND. Go IRISH ☘️

@24:48 talking about Freeman being pissed, don't forget Franklin also made numerous comments about coaches that had "earned it".
Maybe he meant nothing by it, but with the comments about Freeman's age .. I interpreted it as a dig on Freeman having been promoted from within at such a young age

James Franklin can't help himself, that's just how he rolls. He's doing very well for himself, he has PSU in a very good place, and has his shite together as a head football coach. But he's a schmuck.

Hey Pete... ND Nico here... Ran into you at the game in Club area ... Sorry I couldn't remember your name. "Pete The IndepeNDent!!" What an insane game. My blood pressure was pounding by the end of the game. Multiple grown men, including myself, crying like babies after Jeter hit the winning FG. Unbelievable!! GO IRISH!!!!!!!

Notre Dame loses last night without Steve coming into ignite the offense at the end of the first half. He has proven time after time that he is ready to run the show, and I can’t wait to see him play next year.

Steve did what he does best, and for which i will be eternally grateful: first read quick passes. He is not a QB1 for a championship ND team. He takes too many sacks and does not make secondary or tertiary reads well enough. It's Minchey or Carr.

@@Law_Dogg EXACTLY. Steve is a really good back up and Im VERY thankful we have him to help the team in this capacity when needed.

He was throwing checkdowns against soft coverage

@ Fair enough. Then explain why Riley Leonard was not doing the same thing prior to Steve coming in? He had done nothing (except to throw an interception)! It was very clear that Steve was considerably more decisive, quicker to get the ball out, more accurate, and in charge. That field goal right before halftime changed the entire tone of the game. Then fast forward to the 4th quarter when Riley throws his second interception - one that should have at a minimum resulted in overtime, but very possibly a loss in regulation if not for Penn States gift in deciding to force one over the middle, and with that having possibly been successful if not for the phenomenal interception by Gray. Riley did some good things for sure, and he is a very competitive and likable player, but he just isn’t better than Steve. People will argue that the coaches clearly disagree, but I would argue that when you pay a kid so much money to come in and play, the boosters expect you to justify all the money they gave you to make that move.

I completely agree with you Pete at my watch party…when Baker and Angelli came into game (think RL was out for the rest)…all 15 of us were…”their done, we should all go home “ and would have but we did a lot, a lot of tail gating (so to speak).

Keep in mind that Ohio State also purchased a $20M roster. They were predicted pre season to win it all because no one has a roster that compares.

THANK YOU! People talk about these teams as though they are evenly matched and they aren't anywhere close. The same applies to Penn State. People dump on them for losing to Ohio State when Penn St. doesn't have anything CLOSE to the talent the Buckeyes have.

There's just no good explanation for Franklin's agenda against independence. Is it to redirect the media away from his record against top teams?

Have to push back against Matt a bit, I agree that Penn St is more talented than Notre Dame right now due all of the injuries and all the 2nd/3rd string guys playing. But if ND is healthy I think ND is more talented, just my opinion.

Fortuna is such a hater. Just spent the whole show talking about how PSU should have won. They were bailed out of 2 INT’s that turned into TD’s and we’re still outscored 24-14 in the second half and were outgained in yards. ND was the better team.

He was just trying to big-league him a little bit, that's all. Just a little gamesmanship. MF is handsome, charismatic, and he's sort of like in this wonderland at ND, where he seems to enjoy a genuine natural affinity, and with this breakthrough season is truly becoming adored by ND fans, and that's all great, and very storybook. Heady times for MF. But there is a world outside his cocoon at ND. Other teams want to win too. And other coaches want to win. So you gotta deal with it, if somebody Fs with you a little bit. And I guess he did. But that's all it was.
Did it help ND? Who the heck knows, truly impossible to say, because you can't play the game over without that transpiring and compare the two. And the way things went in the first half, seemed like you wouldn't consider things to be going well for ND, and any sort of random extraneous pre-game motivation, that was mainly centered on MF personally and not on the team as a whole, would have been completely absorbed by the first half struggles. And at that point you're just trying to win. You're not sending a message, or nursing any grudges. You're just glad you're only down seven. Unless you think Penn St. was just flat better than ND and the game was always their's to win. I certainly don't. So maybe going a little overboard on this little side narrative.
