One of Mozarts perfect pieces. The melodies, polyphony, tonal balance, contrasting moods, unexpected key changes, and jewelry box style accompaniments are all impeccable.
Beautiful performance of this masterpiece by Mozart! The mild tone of clarinet sounds really charming. The interaction among the three soloists is very intimate and perfectly synchronized.
The lovely Eb trio KV 498, in a crystalline and lyrical performance by Martin and friends, here with his longtime pianist Roland Pontinen and the great violist Maxim Rysanov. The KV 498 trio has been misnicknamed the "Kegelstatt" trio for over 200 years. In actuality, it was the KV 487 french duos that were composed two weeks earlier, "untern Kegelscheiben" ("while play skittles") by Mozart. This lovely Eb trio, KV 498 was not. Mozart writes on the autograph of KV 498 (now in Paris) very simply, "Ein Terzett fur Klavier, Klarinette, und Viola." I have edited the wiki page on KV 498 to reflect this information.
Flawless execution, and Martin Frost has a very distinctive and appealing tone. This is one of my favorite pieces by Mozart (along with the clarinet quintet, The Magic Flute, the G minor symphony, and the "Jupiter" symphony).
Wunderschöne Leistung dieses mozartischen Meisterstücks! Der milde Ton der Klarinette klingt echt bezaubernd. Die Miteinanderwirkung zwischen den drei Solisten ist sehr intim und perfekt synchronisiert.
Here's how the discussion starts... Piano+viola: "Isn't this an interesting idea?" Piano: "Yes and i also think this" Piano+viola: "But ours is still a good idea" Piano: "And mine as well" Clarinet: "If i may, i have another thought, allow me to explain..." Piano: "Ok let me see if i got that straight"
The more I listen to Mozart, the more I realize that everything is an opera. His chamber works are little operas, with characters, dialogue and drama. I think von Ditters has also come to this realization.
Bravo!!!
Music for that salon. I imagine Shubert in the audience getting inspired. Acoustic music cannot be beat, if you really want to hear the instrument as opposed to the electronic application system.
A wonderful performance. I'm not generally a fan of Fröst's tempi but this is beguiling in every way. And such exceptionally brilliant viola playing too. A magnificent example of "listening", where each player is superbly responsive to the others. So many brilliant musical choices on display here - not all of them perfect but every one genuinely interesting and carefully thought out. The amazing thing about the three great Mozart clarinet works is that each time you hear one of them you think it must be the most unsurpassably sublime. If you hear the concerto, it has to be the concerto that is the greatest. Then you listen again to the Quintet and the Quintet seems impossible to beat. And then you come back to the Trio, and the Trio seems exquisitely perfect ... And so on, round it goes.
Recently, I have finally come to understand and listen to classical music. This is the result of learning how to write music notes and basic harmony progression.
@hierrot He has harsh articulation because of the huge hall. The bigger the reverb is the harsher you have to tongue. Also, he has a very focused tone it's just that untrained ears hear bright as unfocused. Also, telling him he needs a warmer sound is telling him what your concept of tone is.
You will enjoy the Brahms clarinet sonatas, as he scored for either viola or clarinet......but as a clarinetist, I say they are clarinet sonatas, so there.
Very nicely played....music...not just notes. This was my first chamber piece and I still love it. Hey..it's Mozart. Often hard to find a viola that can play sincere chamber music soloist instead of folow the leader.
very nice. Mozart loved puppet plays. Bunraku of Japan, a picture-story show of Japan is very similar to the puppet play. pictures come in a frame by turns. very nice arts they are.
they are great and well of course this is a great work, but i think the viola isn't sounding loud enough, though it's probably just a recording problem
Much as I would prefer original instruments (it's the only traditional way to hear what Mozart intended), I admit that contemporary instruments are much more mellow, with a deeper, more intense sound. This is especially noticeable with the piano. The clarinetist is brilliant, with insightful tonal qualities and well-paced delivery that's just perfect. I think Wolfie would be pleased with this performance.
Very fine from threee exellent players. martin is as always marvelous and has good help from the viol. Don´t forget Roland Pöntinen. I think his is one of swedens leading chambermusic players.
Although Martin Fröst tends to take fast tempos he is a great clarinetist and performer. Good tone but a bit far from what I like. My favorites though have to be Håkan Rosengren and Walter Boeykens.
It is true use of a viola instead of the clarinet would likely result in a mor ephi ,Ithink that this instrumentation is -- due to diversity ensemble--a more compelling soundi

This is one of the best performances of the Kegelstatt I have heard. The dynamics, tempo, and harmony among the three instruments are wonderful.
Martin Frost is the one clarinettist who combines beautiful sound, virtuosity, and sensitivity in a stunning manner. A consumate artist!
¡Oui, je suis d'accord!
0:00 I. Andante
5:25 II. Menuetto
10:58 III. Allegretto
Thanks!
Thank you!
You are a very talented composer, thank you!
Muchas gracias. Saludos desde México. 👏👏.
three artists who are present emotionally and spiritually ALL the time, beautifully performing both individually and in ensemble, thanks!
I'm delighted to be able to watch this performance. The clarinet sings beautifully. Mozart is served well by these musicians. Bravo!
Beautiful performance of this masterpiece by Mozart! The mild tone of clarinet sounds really charming. The interaction among the three soloists is very intimate and perfectly synchronized.
I played this for my senior recital in college. I absolutely love this piece. I love chamber music!
Mozart makes me happy, never fail

Before Mozart nobody had ever thought of putting this instruments together...inspired idea !

In my opinion, this is a great performance, it has a beautiful tempo in all movements.
Recently, I have finally come to understand and listen to classical music. This is the result of learning how to write music notes and basic harmony progression.
It gives you insight into just how brilliant composers like Mozart and Bach really were!
Beautiful - thanks Mozart, thanks Martin, thanks guys.
Beautifully done; that whole last movement was delightfully playful.

Beautiful piece,Mozart The Great.
Beautiful phrasing and tone inter play between the instruments ....very enjoyable
Very alive & fast...for "grupetto"-melody, but....bravo Pianist--great Ensemble's Rhithm!❤❤❤
this is such a gem of a piece!!!
Nagyon szép!!! Emlékszem ezt még a zenei táborban tanultuk. Nagyon szeretem ezt is :)
I was a clarinetist, but now I am violist...so this music is perfect

Gran sonido, estupenda interpretación

Tante grazie! A great piece and performance. Wonderful light at a dark time. Wolfie, you are such a mensch! Or should I say " ubermensch"?
Hello, can I use your music to make my video? I'll apreciate to you if you response me!!
What a splendid performance!

Martin Fröst de Messi onder de klarinet spelers.
Mozart et Martin Frost magnifiques 💖
superbe ,, martin frost a la clarinette magistral , comme toujours , et mozart le génie inaccessible ,,

very good recording
great artists, great music.
There is a very nice arrangement of this for two violins. It is No. 10 in the Litolff collection (No. 2111) of Mozart 12 duos pour 2 Violons, Op. 70
gorgeous playing
Very well done, each complements the others. Could use a little more volume from the fiddle...
It’s a viola

I always get the impression that when people plays allegretto like vivace it it is because they need to go to the toilet :o)
Bravo!!👏👏👏. Mozart would have approved!👏👏💕
Linda música!
it's the first time i see martin play w/ sheet music....

This piece must have intrigued and influenced Brahms because I here so many of Mozart’s ideas in his clarinet works.
Well, where can we find your version of this piece ;-)

nice performance of this mozart gem - it's a shame that mozart wrote so little for clarinet - he was pretty good at it...ha
J'adoreeeee cette musique 🔥🫠
Very beautiful.
Wonderful viola part
Auch ein toller Bratscher!!!
He is a fine pianist. What exactly is it that you don't like?

Martin är best :)
They must have piped some Beethoven into the Halle where Mozart was kegelling.
wunderbat toll
Very nice. But bloody Steinway grand. Doesn't suit Mozart chamber music at all. They would have done much better with a Sauter or a Steingraeber.
