    Dr. thank you u explained it so well!! I'm a student who wanna make a biomedical device for skin grafting just want to k right now what procedure you are following for grafting ....are u using meek technique ? or electric dermatome with skin mesher? It would be really helpful if u will help me in this ...hoping for a positive response thank u

      @DrPS13  4 года назад +1

      Hello..thank you for liking my work. I use a skin grafting handle, battery operated dermatome or the Zimmer air dermatome whichever is available. I hand mesh or use a mesher depending on the the recipient site requirements.

      @@DrPS13 thank you so much Ma'am ...i also want to ask one question that for every skin grafting we need to mesh the skin? or without meshing we can directly put the graft on wound site?

    • @DrPS13
      @DrPS13  4 года назад +3

      @@yashashreejoshi1050 for large surface areas you should always mesh.. meshing helps in 2 ways:
      1. To expand the graft size from 1:2 upto even 1:6 with a mesher. This helps to cover more areas when donor site is limited
      2. Meshing prevents collection under the graft and helps it uptake.
      -Meshing is not required when FTSG is needed for cosmetic areas as meshing leads to a reptilian appearance of skin.

    what's the difference between it and electric dermatome?

    • @DrPS13

      Kindly refer to my video on dermatome,it will help clear your doubts

    • @Brynnium
      @Brynnium 4 года назад

      This one requires manual cutting motions. The electric dermatome moves the blade side-to-side automatically.
