Hi Tucker. I’ve been waiting for that video! I felt the same about the 890 and since one winglet has cut through my wetsuit into my chest breaking off I’ll probably size the winglets down to a sk8 850 😂. Moreover, the C200 is my current favorite as well. But using a foilparts fuse for bottom mount stabs, I found Takuma and the Kd 13R to be great options as well. Have a nice week and thanks for the great videos!
11:04. I am new to wind sports, I weigh something similar to you at 195. I am currently riding an F - one al aluminum mast at Fuselage. My front wing is a 1800 gravity. I can get up on foil well but still can not make Jibes. My friends with more experience and are smaller than me tell me to buy a much smaller front wing for my foil. I bought a slingshot Quantum 100cm from your company, but the front wing is moving to much rocking back and forth. The side of the island where I live has low wind speed most of the time, 10 to 12 knots . I would love your input on this matter.
Hi Tucker, your in-depth reviews are always good to watch. Thank you! Query, Im riding Phantom 1080 (XS/C195/75cm HM mast) as my go too foil for prone, tow & wing & love it! I just sold my 1480 to put that money towards a SK8 :) I'm 72kg's & getting close to linking waves. Some good tow sessions with pumps. Which SK8 all rounder would you recommend to mix with my 1080? Cheers
950 is great for prone foiling. At my 200lbs, I like it in 3-6' swell and it pumps well as long as you kick out with decent speed. It doesn't do super well pumping if you are near the stall speed. I'd size up to the 1050 to connect more than 1-2 waves back personally. -Tucker
@@MACkiteboarding How does the 950 compare to the 890 for prone? I have the 890 and really like it but wouldn't mind slightly better roll and lower stall speed in weaker waves, I can only connect a couple on the 890 and need to get better at pumping, cheers 🤙
Great review Tucker but Oh man that's given me some food for thought ie do I switch from axis 999 over?! Some questions if you don't mind Tucker 1. Any thoughts on the 1050? The span is less than the 999 so wondering if this would be a fairer equivalent? 2. You mentioned the C200 tail....can you use the same monobloc tail from the sk8 950 directly onto a eagle? 3. Finally, I keep hearing mixed impressions of the stiffness and robustness of the fone masts.. at 200lb what do you use? I heard new masts are coming?? The axis masts are legendary stiff and strong...how does the fone compare?? Cheers as always!
1. I'd say a more "fair" comparison to the ART 999 would be the Eagle 990. Similar aspect and intention. If you want more carvey turns, the SK8 in 950 or 1050 would be good options. 2. Yes, you can use the monobloc 200 on any carbon f-one foil. 3. The mast I use is the 85 and 95cm HM carbon. I prefer the 85cm for the Sk8 but like the 95cm for 790 eagle on monster days. The F-one masts are a lot sleeker than the Axis due to the narrower foil section and chord. Not quite as stiff as the HM Power carbon but for me at 200lbs and 6'3 they are plenty stiff and strong. -Tucker
75kg winging confortably with phants 1080 and 840. Almost never the 1480, will sell it. 840 only in very rare days of strong wind, or vacations. Thinking about to keep 840 and to change 1080 for 1050 as the go-to, all-around, light wind, downwind and learn to prone. Will it work? Or should I change 840+1080 for 950+1200 7Seas?
@@chrisfry1190 I like it with my back foot over the front edge of the mast for the most part. Might move a little around that depending on if I'm ripping turns or just cruising. On this board, it's about 1" forward of the middle of the box. I start with my back foot further forward to balance the buyancy but once I get up I drop my foot back a little. -Tucker

Hi!! Thanks for sharing!! Just a question: which of the two foils (eagle vs. sk8) has better lower wind capability and lower stall speed? I tested the sk8 950 (jibes and tacks level) on flat water (68 kg, 5.0 Strike V2, 75 L) and was really struggling to come on the foil at 12-15 knots. Probably the wrong pumping technique, but I found it a really difficult foil compared to my Phantom 1280. Maybe I should have tested the 1050. cheers! Jordan
Great question, Eduard. 🤙🏽 Low-end is always going to be subject to one’s personal ability level, so it’s really hard to say with any kind of certainty. It is really fun, however. Good winds. -Aaron
Would you say the Sk8 950 has the same potential low end as the Phantom 1280 for winging? Or at least close? Currently on a 1280 Phantom and looking to get something more carvy and a bit longer glide, but without sacrificing low end for those 10-11 knot days. Which sk8 size would fit the bill?
I've bought the sk8 950 in August 2023 and still finds it lifts too much. I bought tail shims for F One from AP3D but they don't fit the skates and eagles, too bad. Would you know a boutique selling such shims ?
Do you have a 2 piece tail? If so, you can cut a chunk out of an old gift card to use as a shim. If you have the mono-block style one piece, you are out of luck sadly. -Tucker
Hi Tucker. I'm going to buy the sk8 950 to use this foil especially in shore wave with much foam... Actually I've a Fanatic 75 litres and a Sabfoil M92 with W945. Sometimes I use also a 799 for more radical turns. Can you tell me which carbon mast by F-one I'll buy? With the sk8 950 is better the 95 or the 85 cm mast ? Which one do you use in your test? Thanks a lot
I really dig the 85cm HM carbon mast with this. I have the 95cm as well but it's not as nimble and you don't need the length with this narrower wingspan. - Tucker
All the reviews are saying this foil is incredible, can`t wait to get one

What wing are you riding with this board and foil here? Looks like a Duotone. And what sizes in what wind ranges?
In these clips I was riding the 2023 Duotone Slick 5m. It was a gusty 22kn day with snow. -Tucker
Good to know that a foil that small is sufficient for someone around 200 pounds.

Curious what size apple tree you are riding that sk8 950 on and where you are placing the mast - trying to get my 70l dialed with the sk8 950
This is the Skipper Wing 75L. I find it rides more like a 60L in terms of low end becasue of the spoon bottom shape and rails. -Tucker
