Thanks for sharing! This is my first year as flower farmer and I’m zone 5b and started my cool flowers. For some reason I only did 2 Rudbeckia and 1 feverfew that grew amazing! This year I added some perennial flowers 120 Veronica, yarrow and eringium. We also did sweet William, Rudbeckia and feverfew as transplants. Then direct sowed Nigella,Bleuperium , Dara , Dill, Bachelor buttons. I have dill all over my herb garden so I figured I would try. We just got our high tunnel so I’ll be transplanting Snaps and Lisianthus in.

My grandmother taught me to sprinkle poppy seeds on the first snowfall. Her garden was so beautiful! Of course, it was cooler where I was raised; we usually got snow in late October or November.

I actually bought some of the varieties you mentioned for spring planting but I’m also in Oklahoma (south central area though!) and now I’m so excited to plant now instead of waiting!! I got the delft blue nigella and the green Albion pod nigella and some bachelor buttons! I can’t wait to plant my poppies come December!

Great video and information. Zone 6 Northern VA. I had actually planned overwintering in milk jugs a few that you mentioned. Burperleum and bachelor button. The weather here can be very cold (20’s for a couple days straight). I wonder if I can DS those two I'm raised bed now with protection (lots of mulch on top).? I don't have a cold frame or hoops or can prepare one. Thanks!

Thanks Carla! So in all the things I listened to Lisa says that she provides frost cloth for these flowers only if the temps get down to a consistent 25 degrees or lower. If it’s one night she doesn’t cover but if it’s more consecutive she will give some of them a cover. I think that will be my plan. I bet you could gently lay frost cloth over yours without hoops. The issue is when the cover sits on the plants long term. All of these don’t need cover though. She mentioned buperleum and bells tho.
