5 months ago I left a comment here about bursting into tears after completing this workout. This was because this workout made me understand how out of shape I was due to having given up on my healthy habits (including physical exercise) because of work stress. Today, 5 months later I did this workout again and would now like to give an update. It took some time but 2 months ago I finally turned my life around and started working out every single day. Not much, just 10-25 minutes a time. Sometimes it's a similar workout to this, other days a bit of yoga or just stretching. I feel so much better and happier now! My body doesn't hurt anymore. I don't struggle walking the stairs anymore. I feel a bit more like my old self. This workout is still challenging for me (my arms are shaking right now lol) but it's manageable! If you're feeling down and/or uncomfortable in your body then just know that 10-15 minutes can make a big difference in your life! :) Good luck!
Aww. This heartening because I used to be fit, very slim, before several chronic illnesses changed my life. This comment is encouraging. Thanks for taking the time to update. I'm in my sick bed wuth nerve damage and unable to move my kept side. Feeling a bit down, but as I cannot sleep, been watching videos and reading about getting back to a healthy place. All the best on your journey 🙂
@@natalieo.1612 take care!! 🤍✨ And good luck on your journey :) fast forward 1 more year and I'm training for a half marathon. A lot can change in a couple of years!!! 🤍🤍
I used to exercise regularly and be quite fit. However, a lot has changed and today I could barely finish this workout. After completing it I burst into tears - on the one hand because I was happy and proud for exercising after such a long break but also because I was miserable about having lost most of my muscle tone and endurance. So in case anyone needs this reminder: If your work stress or some other stress is so bad that you don't have time or energy for your healthy habits anymore, it's time to make a change! Your health is your most precious asset!
You are telling my story. BeforevCovid I was running 6 miles almost daily at the gym. Then I found out I had HPYLORI and my world changed. Among several other stressors. How are you doing now? I'm afraid to start.
@@elizabethgilbert4941 I quit the job that drained me a couple of months ago after saving up an emergency fund for a year. I started this workout barely finishing the first round of workout (lower body). Now I was almost able to complete everything with a few modifications. Planning to increase the rounds and maybe move on to a longer bodyweight workouts. But just want to point out if you consistently doing this workout with good stretches, your muscles will improve. The key is to be consistent. Just make it maybe three times a week also sufficient as long as your muscles get used to the movement. Keep it up guys. We all start from the same point. This is my first day of 8 week challenge. Finished it on time, I can feel my heart pumping faster and I'm sweating profusely... Feeling very good that I have initiated the challenge well
Hello everyone, I just finished this work out and my arms are shaking. I used to be pretty strong but the past few years I have not worked out and I feel like I have lost all progress I ever made. I decided to try this video out to see how the plan felt and honestly I was about to give up after the second set, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m starting this plan on Monday (so I’ll repeat this video) and hope I can stick with it. All my gyms are closed and I feel that it is hard to find motivation to work out at home. I like videos because I don’t have to think about what workout to do next and I can just think about actually doing it. However I’m tired of having to look for a video every time and it’s nice to have a beginner friendly plan, that actually feels like beginner level. I’m excited to finish this plan and give you guys an update! Thank you Joanna for making it! Update: its the day after and my whole body is sore. I did do some extra exercises but still 🥵
I'm in the exact same boat as you are. I used to be moderately fit and kinda strong, but during quarantine I really let myself go and gained a good 10-15 pounds. I'm super super sore so I'm trying to actively rest by doing walking and gentle everyday movements until my muscles are rested enough to try this again. I know it'll get easier as it goes on. Best of luck to you!
I’m so glad you guys are trying this out too! I must admit I accidentally quit the program because my life has been so busy. But I just turned in my last big assignment of the semester and I’m ready to try again! I don’t it really difficult to stay motivated but I hope I’m able to this time. I feel like I’m in a strangers body and I just want to feel like myself again, and healthier. I’m not saying that there is something wrong with how I look now, I can just feel that I want to work out so I can be stronger and feel healthier + more energized throughout the day.
Joanna, thanks for posting workouts for absolute beginners. My stiff body/muscles/joints need these. Please keep posting workout plans for people like me. Love you! xoxo
So glad to find a beginner bodyweight instructor who focuses on form first! When I saw no jumping I was worried my heart rate wouldn't go up enough to consider this a cardio workout, but it did! Can't wait to do it again!
I’m not a beginner per se. I used to do your HIIT cardio videos very frequently and was very strong, but life took me on a journey where I feel like a beginner again. I hadn’t worked out well in about 5 months and my body is feeling it. I’d been neglecting my body and after this workout, it feels grateful. Thank you for all your great videos for so many different exercise levels. You are always so encouraging. Thank you.
I don't usually comment on youtube videos but I have to say I have never found a YT instructor who really focuses on your form and thats what made all the difference. Not just for the main workout but even the stretches. So excited to get this 8 week program on the road!! Thank you Joanna!!
I will update as I keep working out. I'm at the beginning of week 3 of excersizing after being out of shape. I rested 2-3 days a week. This is the FIRST day I finally got through the whole workout, but I had to take way longer breaks. Finished in 47 minutes. You can do it too! I believe in you! I was dying the first week, haha. And the soreness goes away. - 24 May EDIT: I'm at the end of 5 weeks of this workout now. It's definitely a little bit easier, but I'm still doing longer and more frequent pauses than the video does. I also rest every other day now and do static and dynamic recovery. This workout still kicks. My. BUTT. - 26 March 2022 I came back to this workout after taking a long break from strength training but my job since July has been active and constantly on my feet. The lower body workout hilariously is still the one that's the hardest to complete for me, but now the upper body and core isn't much of a problem. It goes to show that standing and walking, and lifting throughout the day is IMPORTANT, even if you aren't intentionally working out
I love how much she is sweeting and hearing her loose her breath a bit makes this seem realistic. I'm coming from her video on eating and exercising for your body type. I've neglected my health long enough and its time for me to get fit. 6 more months in 2023 and I intend to end the year STRONG!
Is this really a "beginner" workout? it absolutely killed me! Am I that unfit? 😭 I hope I can do this regularly. Thank you for the video! Update: My muscles were sore for at least 4 days after this workout, but I did it again the week after!
I was thinking the same as you while i was working out. Is this truly for beginner?? I tried to finish til the end and i was sweat for all of my body. I will not give up.
One day i wish to meet you and tell you how much you’ve changed my life. I’ve started working out with you around 7 years ago and you’ve transformed me from someone who absolutely hated her body and knew nothing about health and nutrition, to someone with much more confidence, with a healthier body and state of mind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and with tears of joy in my eyes❤️
Taking the 8 week challenge, day 1 complete. I am SHAKING. I've never been mega fit, but I used to run regularly before I gave birth. Now my son is a toddler and I've struggled to keep up any exercise routine for long, so I'm very much out of shape. Excited to see my body improve!
This is the first workout I've done in months ever since I pulled my hamstring running for track. I was also nervous because I recently got prescribed an inhaler due to having asthma symptoms after running and working out. Thank you so much for giving me a good workout after recovery! I don't feel as nervous to start tomorrow :)
8 week challenge: week 1: day 1- ✅ day 2- ✅ day 3- ✅ barely made it thru Day 4- ✅ day 5 - ✅ didnt exercise for 3 days i faced some digestive issues gonna get back on track day 6 -✅ week 2 day 1-✅ idk why ive been facing abdominal pain during exercises for the past few days. barely got thru this session
I lost count of how many times I almost quit this workout, but am so glad that I didn't! Now I feel more confident in doing proper squats and lunges and looking forward to trying the more challenging versions of these workouts in the upcoming weeks. If you're obese and an absolute beginner, please start these workouts slowly! Joanna is so right when she tells us to focus on form - once I did that the 'burn' was immediate and constant!
I LOVE this! I managed to do it but with lots of screaming and air gasping on the first day. Haha 😂My whole body was sore the next day. But as I kept doing it over the next few days, the sore was gone. And my body feel lighter when doing other exercises. It’s a really great workout for beginners. Thanks for the video! ❤
I really struggled with the upper body section of this workout. I have strong legs, was not a problem, but my upper body strength is pathetic! I am going to stay consistent and do this workout every 2 or 3 days, hopefully I improve over time!! 🥵
Day 1 of 8 week workout complete. Done this workout at 5 am so I'll have time for myself before my little one wakes up. Hoping to be consistent and thanks for your amazing workouts Joanna. I find your workouts not easy but definitely worth the try♥️
This workout is a testament to how much I needed the exercise. I've been putting off exercising for months. I was hardly keeping up in the beginning, I was out of breath, my whole body was shaking and i was sweating profusely. I basically died in the second portion but thankfully fell back on track with the final part, but I must confessed that I only did like three mountain climbers my arms could not support me.
Just completed this workout and sweat buckets but extremely thankful that Joanna made it easy to follow, carefully explained the steps and did not go fast. A lot of emphasis on technique. Thank you so much!
Did this workout and my legs are shaking 😂 i gained 4kgs and lost motivation but now i am trying again, and i love love love your workouts its hard but effective, a request to please guide us more about diet and macros too. ❤️

Yeeeah, Joanna !!! I was having a looong 6 months break because of my lack of motivation. I've been doing your tough workouts from almost 3 years now and my body changed A LOT. So with this simple workout I can come back with my workout routine to get in shape and stay active, bb ! Thank you so much, Joanna ! Stay safe, love you !
With both my mental and physical health declining , i have decided to turn my life around. I am beginning with this but still not able to finish it. I will update when i am able to finish it and how much time it took and the differences it brought to my life
More of these plz! I need some exercises like these that are not too vigorous while I’m still studying in school and I could squeeze a light workout and lose some pounds as much as possible☺️❤️
This is the first workout I finished on youtube and I'm very pumped about the next. I know this is for beginners but i appreciate how joanna balanced this. Also, my arms are shaking as im typing this lmao
I'm not considered as fat/chubby but after being hospitalized and didnt worked out for so many months, I felt my body slowly becomes flabby and I tend to get more tired easily. My sister recommended Joanna Soh's routine and it's my first day today! Day 1 - ✔ Oct 5 Weight - 50.1 Right thigh - 48cm Left thigh - 48cm Waist - 71cm Right flabby arm - 28cm Left flabby arm - 26cm
Ahh, just done with my first routine since I got determined to take my workout serious. Did 2 from each circuit and repeated it thrice. My body can't stop shaking. Love it. Thanks joanna
Thank you so much for this workout! I’m a beginner and this was REALLY hard. I had to stop the middle to sit for 5 minutes and I was gasping for breath during the workout! I’ll be doing this twice a week, cardio for the other two and one day for yoga ✨
Just did your workout for the first time today, I'm losing weight on keto and it's been working well for me, but wasn't doing any movement, so I did your work out, and it's hard but enjoyable! I like how you explain how to position your body, I didn't get all the moves right but you made it believable that with practice you can get better so thank you!
Day one of the 8 week challenge. First time in a while since I did any strength training. Lost a lot of muscle from Covid and did my body make that loud and clear while doing this video!! But that's why I'm here; to get strong once again. Excellent video. Thank you!
i did this workout because my calf cramped after doing the workouts from Chris heria ... while waiting for my calf to recover .. this workout is the best and really good for beginners. Thank you
Great start of the 8 week program. I was working on some new workout schedules and came across your 8 week workout plan. Thanks so much for making this list! Big fan of your videos, thanks so much for making them :)
I just finished my first day of the 8 week challenge and I didn't do so well as I haven't exercised properly in 6 years because of my asthma. But thank you for being so beginner friendly Joanna, I'll do my best for these 2 months!
Hey, I did this workout today, honestly speaking it was easy and refreshing, I really felt good after completing this, recently I did your 10 minute teen workout, and now I am moving towards longer duration of workouts, I will try my best to keep updating!!!🤗🤗 Its Day 2 and my body, it hurts[a lot] well that is a sign that my muscles are loosing up and my body will get used to it soon. Looking forward.

I remember doing this for the first time and my form was 90% of the time off, and I took so many breaks and had to go 3x slower than you. but coming back a few weeks later I only took a few seconds of a break and I followed your tempo and had way better form! So proud of myself 🤭 Edit: 1 month later and zero breaks, all in tempo :)

@@joannasohofficial can you make a video on thyroid ?
So glad to find a beginner bodyweight instructor who focuses on form first! When I saw no jumping I was worried my heart rate wouldn't go up enough to consider this a cardio workout, but it did! Can't wait to do it again!
love how she talks to us, feels like shes actually there. cant wait to finish these 8 weeks
Thank you.
Glad to hear that you are back!! Yes, it feels great to move, sweat and be stronger!! Keep it up, ok? ❤️
I don't usually comment on youtube videos but I have to say I have never found a YT instructor who really focuses on your form and thats what made all the difference. Not just for the main workout but even the stretches. So excited to get this 8 week program on the road!! Thank you Joanna!!
who is taking up this 8 week challenge 😜😜
u got this
Thnx joanna
This works!!!! I have been doing these exercises for a few weeks every alternate day and i could see alot of difference
-
24 May EDIT: I'm at the end of 5 weeks of this workout now. It's definitely a little bit easier, but I'm still doing longer and more frequent pauses than the video does. I also rest every other day now and do static and dynamic recovery. This workout still kicks. My. BUTT.

26 March 2022
I came back to this workout after taking a long break from strength training but my job since July has been active and constantly on my feet.
It's my second time doing a bodyweight workout routine and it wasn't easy. I'm looking forward to progressing. Thank you.

Did you finish the challenge?
This is the first workout I've done in months ever since I pulled my hamstring running for track. I was also nervous because I recently got prescribed an inhaler due to having asthma symptoms after running and working out. Thank you so much for giving me a good workout after recovery! I don't feel as nervous to start tomorrow :)

Week 3~
Day 15 of 8 Week Workout Challenge - Done✅
hi can u tell me about your result
Love this! She combines fitness training and nutrition education in one platform, I really enjoy this. Keep the good work!
everytime she says "stay with me!" She is my personal instructor online!
Day 1 of 8 week workout complete. Done this workout at 5 am so I'll have time for myself before my little one wakes up. Hoping to be consistent and thanks for your amazing workouts Joanna. I find your workouts not easy but definitely worth the try♥️
Day 01 complete your 8-week challenge! I don't need to look any further confident I'll be able to reach my goals with this challenge and your channel!
These videos are extremely helpful for many people. Gyms are closing down here in California again. Home workouts it is for a bit 💪

I will update when i am able to finish it and how much time it took and the differences it brought to my life
yess Joanna! This is what I needed thank you so so much!

first day of 8 weeks challenge. thank you for posting this for free, I'm really encouraged to do this challenge and I don't think I will mess a day
More of these plz! I need some exercises like these that are not too vigorous while I’m still studying in school and I could squeeze a light workout and lose some pounds as much as possible☺️❤️
I m doing this workout daily for 1 week now and i just find the lower body circuit most challenging but still i was able to do it. Thank you for it.
Day 1 - ✔ Oct 5
Weight - 50.1
Right thigh - 48cm
Left thigh - 48cm
Waist - 71cm
Right flabby arm - 28cm
Left flabby arm - 26cm

Which workouts did you followed can you share the links please?
Ahh, just done with my first routine since I got determined to take my workout serious. Did 2 from each circuit and repeated it thrice. My body can't stop shaking.
Love it. Thanks joanna

Thank you so much for this workout! I’m a beginner and this was REALLY hard. I had to stop the middle to sit for 5 minutes and I was gasping for breath during the workout! I’ll be doing this twice a week, cardio for the other two and one day for yoga ✨
Does this help with weight loss or is this more of strength training? I'm confused shouldn't we do cardio to lose weight?
Just did your workout for the first time today, I'm losing weight on keto and it's been working well for me, but wasn't doing any movement, so I did your work out, and it's hard but enjoyable! I like how you explain how to position your body, I didn't get all the moves right but you made it believable that with practice you can get better so thank you!
Keta diet or any diets aren't promising for lifetime...it's not sustainable!
Hey Joanna! Do you know that people who have hearing inability can follow your videos too by reading your description box? ❤️
Day one of the 8 week challenge. First time in a while since I did any strength training. Lost a lot of muscle from Covid and did my body make that loud and clear while doing this video!! But that's why I'm here; to get strong once again. Excellent video. Thank you!
Yes, thank you joanna...I always here everyday from your exercise and follow your step...thank you
So so happy to hear that!! Knowing that you guys are doing my workouts make me the happiest person!! ❤️❤️
i did this workout because my calf cramped after doing the workouts from Chris heria ... while waiting for my calf to recover .. this workout is the best and really good for beginners. Thank you
Great start of the 8 week program.
So excited to try this today!! Motivation is in the air! ❣️
Hey, I did this workout today, honestly speaking it was easy and refreshing, I really felt good after completing this, recently I did your 10 minute teen workout, and now I am moving towards longer duration of workouts, I will try my best to keep updating!!!🤗🤗
Its Day 2 and my body, it hurts[a lot] well that is a sign that my muscles are loosing up and my body will get used to it soon. Looking forward.
This is the exact workout that I was looking for!! I'll keep working on these moves until I master the basic exercises and then I will progress to your advanced workouts! Thank you so much.
Yes!! It's so important to master the basic moves and keep practicing it. Last thing we want, is to pick up "bad habits" and aren't aware of it.
@@joannasohofficial Yes! I trust you because you are a responsible trainer. When I follow you correctly, I feel no risk of injury. Please post a dumbell workout like this for beginners. Thank you 🙂
@@joannasohofficial I workout five times a week. 3 strength training sessions around 30 min and 2 cardio sessions around 20- 30 min on alternate days. All at home
Going to follow all your workouts especially strength training ones. My current weight it 65 kg . I want to come back to this comment to record my progress after 3 months. Yall pray fo me !
Just finished this.. you kicked my butt!! I'm a beginner but I love how clear you were on the instructions!!! Can't wait to do the rest for the 8 week challenge 😁 you're awesome!!!!
Thank you Joannah for getting me started. I am on my 3rd week of this program and I am feeling the workout on my targeted muscles. I am learning to focus on the target and I am happy to not skip a day till now.

Hey Joanna! This is such an awesome workout for beginners like me. I was sweating by the end of it 😃. Could you create a beginner series workout playlist so that we can gradually move on the ladder?🙏🏻
So proud of myself that I managed to complete this workout without stopping 😭😭😭 I usually get bored midways if the workouts are more than 10 minutes long... but I really enjoy your encouragements along the way... made the length bearable. Thank you for this!! 😭😭😭❤️

Congratulations! Keep going girl!
I have tried it for the first time today. Though I couldn't do any of the second round of each set up.
So, I think I will give myself a thumbs up in the next try.
But honestly she's an awesome coach. I am feeling better in days.
After 10 minutes I had to take a break I feel weak omg I need the motivation
I only did 24 min I couldn't finish the workout..I'll try tomorrow again
@@nasaihwaifadate dont do it everyday, your muscles need at least 24 h to rest before you work them out again. Or else they will not grow, only weaken
Your muscles will get stronger before you know it and it'll be wayyy easier for you then
Love this❣️ thank you so much!
I'm starting today with this 8 week program. The beginning of my new life and body. So grateful for this!
I'll keep you posted on my progres 💪🤞🤞💛

But I’m going to set this as my goal hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to have a go at this workout
Exactly that's what I have been thinking
Just started my 8 week program with this wonderful challenging 30 minutes of the day…wish me luck
Thank you Joanna! This workout was a great one for beginners!
Thankyou Joanna ❤️❤️ you're the "ultimate" instructor , you make these workouts free, reachable and beginner - friendly much appreciated....Love from India❤️🥰
The only workout guru on RUclips who sweats during a workout. 😂
Actually beginner friendly.❤
👍🏻👍🏻 two thumbs up for my first day Fasting at Ramadhan...Thankyouu dear...
I remember doing this for the first time and my form was 90% of the time off, and I took so many breaks and had to go 3x slower than you. but coming back a few weeks later I only took a few seconds of a break and I followed your tempo and had way better form! So proud of myself 🤭
Edit: 1 month later and zero breaks, all in tempo :)
Hey, were you doing these workouts daily? Or did you take breaks?
@@salonisingh7606 I switched up my workouts each day but did them almost daily. I took a weekly break on Sundays since it is the Sabath, and I took breaks when I absolutely couldn't find the time or strength to do a workout. I usually made up that time later on to stay consistent.

One thing I just could not do was the tricep dip! I tried really hard but could barely lift up at all. Think I need to find some tricep focused exercises to work on too!
