Me, me, I want to go with you. Love the Texas two step. I live in Texas and danced the two step many times. As long as Texas stays alive, this dance style wont disappear. For as long as I live, I want to listen to the good old classic country music. It's still poplar till this day. Show me a cowboy that doesn't dance this way.
I'm down. Where's that time machine? I'm a native. Still live here. ♥️ The Great State of Texas Baby! 🤠 This movie is a whole vibe! Great Soundtrack ❣️🤘
I love old classics like this! It's been 32yrs for me and I still perform and sing these songs. I've often gotten discouraged and sad, from worry that the old music and guys like me are a dying breed. With people who cared right along with it, and at risk of it fading away for good. But when I see people smiling, dancing, and still enjoying it now, just as much as they did long ago. Makes it all worth it, and why I'm still doing it at 52yrs old.
As soon as I saw this movie I was Houston bound. Best vacation of my life and walking into Gilley's was magical. Mickey was there that night. We got there quite early and there he was behind the bar. First thing I did was call my Grandmother and told her>>>>Guess where I am? Jesus he was running around the phone while I was talking to her, she was such a huge fan of his. I moved from Chicago to Denver and lived the cowboy life>>>>>great days to remember. Taught all my friends to two step. We drove all over the state and stopped at a lot of dance halls>>>>Austin.....best darn dancin I ever seen! This song still gives me goose bumps and I just turned 60, brings back a flood of memories!
Urban cowboy is a great classic. Unfortunately they don't make movie like this one in this days. Urban cowboy has an excellent playlist in its sound track.
If I'm not mistaken , Country music .... EXPLODED after this came out ..... Glad I was there to ride the wave ............ We were able to coast all the way to 2000 before Trashville & corporate radio started denying the public access to this excellent Music ......
David Daigle Country music did explode after the movie Urban Cowboy. Radio station KCBQ AM 1170 & 105.3 in San Diego went country competing with the more popular KSON FM 97.1 in San Diego & AM 930 KHJ Los Angeles went country as well competing with KLAC.
When they started putting these pop singers and rap singers out there and calling it country, or bro country, I knew country as I knew it growing up in the 80's and 90's was dead. I love this movie and its soundtrack. We need another traditionalist movement in country music like we had in the 80's with George Strait & Co. to bring it back again.
my daddy was a Texan born and raised, then he went to war, Normandy the Big Red One, first in that ugly day, yes he made it home the greatest generation proud texan.

When he smelled the smoke and the cinders ol Scooter would slick back his hair and open up his case. Damn, he played a flawless upside down Orange Blossom Special!
I'll never get tired of hearing this song. But what you're hearing is not the original version that was included in the "Urban Cowboy" soundtrack album. When Johnny Lee was about to unleash his album "Sure Feels Good" in 1982, he included the song "Cherokee Fiddle", but this version featured Charlie Daniels playing his fiddle and singing backup. Also singing backup was Michael Martin Murphey. Sad to say that Gilley's lives on only in the memories of the lucky people who got to two-step over there.
Saw Johnny Lee at the Crazyhorse once in tustin......Really connects in a small venue. We had dinner next door and then the show....Best Times ever.....
Such good memories....my hubs was from Waco, he taught me how to dance 2 step. Only problem was he put a lil double step in it, thru me off every time I tried it with another partner...lol. It ALWAYS brings back good times, we were young about the same age as the actors in the movie. Oh to be young again..lol #wewereyoungonce💖 #crushinonjohn
I seen the movie Urban Cowboy on a Flying Tigers flight from Clark AFB to Los Angeles on 3/30/1981. I was returning to San Diego for shore duty when I was in the Navy. I had to leave my late wife of 31 years, my oldest son & late daughter who was an infant then. Our damned Embassy in Manila gave my family & I the damned run around. I’m not the only one our Embassies overseas did that to when I was in the Navy. My late wife & children arrived on 8/6/1981 in Los Angeles. Cherokee Fiddle has stuck with me all these years. Johnny Lee got his start at Giley’s In Pasadena,TX just outside of Houston.
