Only way that would be ok is if no one was at the fuel island. Sometimes the fuel island isnt busy and theres alot of spots to fuel.

He sells stickers. I have a couple on the upper driver's side of my travel trailer so the truckers can see them.
Just do like another driver did when Prime driver blocked fuel island for over 45min. Use spray paint to warn others how inconsiderate he was. Painted " only i matter I'm on my break"

I had one in Arizona last week on 40 over by Holbrook that had doors open swinging around going down the interstate freight loaded in the back flying out and kept trying to get his attention finally ended up calling the law to get him stopped and trailer doors shut

I had to drive with a door open one time because the door wouldn’t close due to the yard jockey poor backing skills.

Happened to me with a roll up door. Picked an empty at a Walmart DC and they had knocked the rollers out of the tracks. Drove back to terminal with every other car passing me and honking that my door was open.

Atlanta traffic is probably a tenth of Washington DC traffic. Took me about 3 hrs to move 20 miles going past dc at rush hour on Friday. I'd take Atlanta over that mess anyway.
DC is bad, route to Long Island is the worst.
The atl 285 Loop, the 495 beltway in the district, the 90/94 dan ryan in the chi, I-24/I-40/I-65 in crashville/nashville, tn, the 405 Freeway in los angeles, I-80 in the bay area, I-15 along the vegas strip & I- 610 Loop in htown; all of their traffic is bad enough to make everyone in multiple vehicles cry and/or you begging the most high to have mercy on you!!
I was literally just saying after 7hrs to go 200 miles thru DC! Thats after driving the Atlanta Ice storm and when the crackheads set the interstate on fire 🔥.

6:57 Reminds me my first trainer told me NEVER park on the end if you can help it, took that seriously even not seeing the consequences but he told me what can happen. Since then when I was at truck stops, I made an effort to always park in t he middle of an aisle
I was 3rd one in and the 2 guys on the end left. Then Steven's transport came and wrecked my truck while I was in the shower.
I was in a truck stop, dozens of other places to park. Driver backs into my tractor not once, but 4 or 5 times !! He just kept stabbing his trailer corner into my fender over and over again. Amazingly, he was such a shitty driver that he didn't do any damage, except push my fender mirror down. 😜

As you may or may not know, big trucks MUST take I-285 around Atlanta (or at least they used to). We called it the Watermelon 500. It's a demolition derby usually, especially if it's raining. The 4-wheeler drivers are absolutely Crazy! They'll be in the left land, and cut across 4 or 5 lanes of traffic to get off at an exit. You've got to be constantly watching out for these crazy 4-wheelers while plodding along. It's a nightmare for truckers.

It still is that way, only local deliveries inside of I-285. I made two deliveries inside the loop & was stopped both times, once before I delivered and the other was after I delivered.

@@HighOctane-wo6cm I was stopped by Georgia State Patrol one time & DOT Enforcement the other time. Some of the GA. State Patrol officers are also DOT Certified. 35 years of driving in Atlanta I have only seen the city police a few times on the Interstate.

The wreck @ 4:00 wasn't Atlanta. That was 475 in Macon, Ga. I went thru that mess.

@@joeymartel5331 That's good to hear. I thought for sure it was a fatality. That driver took out so many trees before coming back onto 475. The truck was still on its side when I went by. It looked bad.
Yeah, I had a friend of mine call because I was coming through the same area around that time. He had to make sure it wasn’t me. He said there was a tree sticking out of the cab when he passed it going south. I came up in it shortly after it happened and went over to 75 and came up.

Ok, I just found out how that accident happened. A tree fell on the truck while he was going up 475. 😮 Right place, wrong time.

what i cant stand is parking at a truck stop early, in an actual spot, only to be blocked by others at 1am parking on the side where it's clear there isn't enough room for the person behind him to get out. He doesn't care, he just found him a "parking spot". Then when I have to bang on his door at 1am he gets all pissed. Maybe if you didn't block anyone in and came when there were actual parking spots, you wouldn't get woken up!

That's one thing I hated when I was driving. If you didn't get into the truck stop by 6pm, it was usually full. Hard to find a parking place. I read once where there were something like 100K more trucks than there are parking spaces. Just one of the things that make truckin' a hard lifestyle.
@@GregInEastTennessee yep, especially on the east coast & west coast. Thank god for those few shippers & receivers that actually allow "overnight parking", sometimes that's the best option.
Whew, there for a minute I thought you was talking about me, but I'm that guy that pulls in around 3AM, but I'm usually gone by 5AM, it's them early morning hours that gets me sometimes, but usually a couple hours and I'm good for the rest of the day

As a driver that has passed the loves at Aurora NE many times that doesn’t surprise me one bit most drivers don’t seem to even realize there is a STOP sign at the highway, had to hammer on the brakes and lay on the horn many times

Never seen a semi with the doors left often, but I had a big box truck pass me on the interstate with its door wide open and a pallet jack rolling around in back. I backed off, way off. Let someone else eat that thing.

Mr Steven thank you for showing us the what not to do's of truck driving my husband and I and a friend of ours are getting ready to go into the Long haul business and watching your videos has helped us quite a bit I'm not doing what we can do and what we can't and what people shouldn't do on the road and that seems so four wheelers that are very mean to truck drivers

I have no problem with a guy eating in the fuel line. Sometimes they gotta wait for the guy in front, who left his truck to get a cheeseburger.
My experience has been that the clowns eating in the pumps are taking their 30 minute break.

My work buddy's kid's boyfriend is talking about getting into trucking school. Doesn't have his regular license yet, at 19. I gave him a lesson, he had no problem getting moving with a manual but he couldn't for the life of him remember he needed to push the clutch again when stopping. That's in my Honda Fit. We never made it to second gear. Good luck to, or with, him...

I drove back in the 80s and 90s. I learned real quick to only park in the back (troublemaker's ) row and never, never, park in the pull through spaces. I only ever got hit once in a truckstop. I got hit real good at a rest area when a guy didn't set his brakes and his truck rolled down the hill into my truck.
I parked on the end last night but when I woke up this morning I was parked in the middle.i had to make 4 driver move there were probably another 8 illegal parked still there

Leaving your doors open is a poor man's aerodynamic package. Increase your fuel mileage, keep your doors open!
The intersection deal, I've had to do that. When it's packed all ways you have to choice ir sit there for days. When one light goes red all traffic flows in and blocks up
I was drivin' for Swift, going through Atlanta, was thinking "wow, there's almost no traffic! This is great!" The exit I need is 2mi away. Sweet. Pop up over a small rise, and there's every car on the road, waiting in a 2mi long line for the exit I needed. I took the brakes to within an inch of locking up the wheels, hit the very wide shoulder, and stopped after passing 4 cars. My hands were shaking for the next 2hrs!

Ever notice, the trucks that run off after hitting someone, have their company name in the SMALLEST lettering possible?
It's even better if they stick around, you get their info, & then the next day your insurance tells you their license & insurance weren't valid. That's why it's best to get the police involved, even though they don't want to do it in many places anymore. Glad my taxes go to the important stuff.

@@waynesworld2086 - couldn't tell ya. It was one of those hot-shot car haulers. All I know is the company I drove for at that time had to pay for their own $1,000 mirror that the jack-wagon mangled while I was sleeping.

@@amedtajanjimenez9767 - took pictures. The problem is going after the driver that did it. They stopped & gave me a license & insurance info that was not valid. I took pics of those too, but it doesn't matter. When they didn't make good on it, you would then have to take them to court, which would cost more than the $1,000 mirror (time + money). Then there's getting them to pay you. This is how these trash get away with stuff.

Agreed. Unfortunately with a lot of newer "politically correct" junk trucks, you can't shut off the DRL function of the headlights unless you get creative pulling fuses or relays. Just more nanny state BS. That's why my 50-ton hook is a '98 & you couldn't give me a newer truck.

@Chris Cave you mean Landscape mode. Portrait is holding your phone upright, which I (and everyone else) hates. Ike even mentioned that in one of the videos last week. Turn your phone sideways in Landscape mode when shooting a video, it provides a better (wider) screen.
