The remarcable thing about this recording is the following in my opinion: not only do the period instruments and the small ensemble size create an incredible transperency but also wispelwey is phrasing completely different compared to most soloists. I think the reason for that is that for example up beats are really up beats and he is not trying to play every note perfectly articulated with a "beatiful" sound as it seems to be the case for so many soloists. An absolutly outstanding recording, if not "the" recording.

I totaly agree with AndyHjo. Here the playing of the instrument is only a way to a bigger goal: let the music play itself. I am very glad with this recording. I had to stop working and listen. As (amateur) cello player I do not often continue listening because of all the polishing and the 'would-be-original' performances. I think the thing is, the ego has to be stopped wanting to play well. Once technique is good enough the player has to forget hemself playing. Only a few can do that. And that cadence is so beautifull! Allmost a jazzy performance that first peace. And the soft silence, slow aproach in the second peace is very beautiful! Jazzy again in the last peace. So fast but not annoying in this case, both cellist and orchestra can handle this speed and play soft and transparent! Happy listener here!

His very own- doesn't it make you want to jump around and dance? That's what it does to me at least:)

Nice. Just a bit too fast, I think it should slow down the tempo.
