WHEN DOES THE SPIRIT DEPART FROM DEAD HUMANS & WHAT ABOUT OUT-OF-BODY STORIES?

- At what point medically, whenever is a person declared dead, is there anything in the scripture that declares that?
Jewish tradition in Biblical times taught that it's after three days you're officially dead--because at that point the spirit had finally departed from the body.
I always would start with the Bible the only genuine out-of-body experience we have God's record of where actually where someone dies and they get to see heaven and they come back is Paul.
As you know in Acts 14 Paul was stoned and if you know anything about how stoning works--you crushed the head with rocks.

• WHEN DOES THE SPIRIT D...
I can say this. A family member of mine passed away back in the 90's from cancer at 37 and when his spirit was leaving his physical body his face lit up with a huge smile and eyes were huge. I truly believe our LORD and SAVIOR was present in that room and took him home.
So do I 🙏🏼
Either that or it could be another family member or friend in the spirit.
Having been through that experience, it's a lot like getting stoned or being on nitrous oxide - that once the feeling of panicky, impending doom passes, you slowly stop caring about dying & have resigned yourself to it. I thought: "I might actually be dying... & I'm ok with that." Sounds were distant & I experienced specks of light as I was starting to lose consciousness, but just before that happened, my blood pressure stabilized from the salt water I drank 10m before - knowing I was going into hypovolemic shock due to a severe allergy (Alpha gal - from a tick bite).
I experienced nothing supernatural, just physical things going on - although I've had 2 incredibly emotional, supernatural dreams when I was a kid.
Same thing happened to my mother in law
When my Mother passed away Feb 1st of 2023 at the age of 87 years, I was holding her hand, telling her that I love her I witnessed her last breath and while looking at her face I thought I was seeing two images of her face a few days later after I figured out what I was seeing I think I caught a glimpse of her spirit leaving her body she went home to Jesus so peacefully I'm looking forward to seeing her again!
I love you, Jesus,
I love you, Mom.
I pray Jesus comes soon!
I died 3 years ago and went to hell I was being cooked alive in a giant oven and could hear men and woman screaming and gnashing their teeth as the Bible says and I hadn't read the Bible yet, I cried out for Jesus and he pulled me out of hell. I died again a few moments later on the operating table and went to just outside heaven. God told me don't worry you are going back. I had more of an experience but there isn't enough room here. I believe you as I never ever want to go back to hell again so I am now a Christian and wasn't before. Hell is the scariest most torturous place but the worst part is you cannot feel the presence of God or anything good at all. It is despair, horror, loneliness, pain, darkness. I praise my Lord Jesus Christ daily and have been baptized and am living as a Christian now. If everyone got to have a hell experience I think a lot of people would change there ways for sure. Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me and giving me a second chance!
We serve a wonderful & merciful God. Thank you Jesus🤍
My Grandmother died for over 40 minutes giving birth to my Dad. She saw Heaven and I grew up listening to her longingly tell me about Jesus and Heaven. I believed her. She died at 96 yrs old and never lost her love of the Lord. You discern the true visits. You discern the false ones.
Well no one is actually in hell, the anti-christ goes first. There’s hades, but it’s not the lake of fire. See Revelations, sorry. I don’t think the fires of hell have actually been lit yet. Sorry.
@@flyinbryan7151 What about Luke 16:19-26 where Jesus shares the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man opened his up in hell Luke 16:23-24
[23]And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
[24]And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

I dont feel he really answered the question. I was almost afraid to listen to this as I wanted to know, but was afraid to hear. My son had a sudden cardiac arrest, 5 months ago. They got his heart started BARELY after trying for an hour and a half. The doctor advised against doing any more CPR if it stopped again because he said it had been too long, that his brain had gone too long without oxygen. So was my son dead at that point? Or did he know his whole family was in the room? Did he feel me holding his hand? Did my son HEAR me whisper "I love you, Tyler. Call to Jesus" and then immediately his heart stop or was his spirit already gone? I want to think he heard me. I want to believe that he chose Jesus in that unconscious state because I believe that GOD is fully capable of reaching into the heart and mind even when a person appears to be "gone"
I actually heard Mr. Burpo and his son Colton when they spoke at our church several years ago. I dont believe there is any way we can know for sure what people see or dont see at the moment of death.
Death is a mystery to us,but not to Jesus. 😢
In memory of my precious son, Tyler 4/8/94 - 11/8/23
I believe Your Son definitely heard you & I am positive he knew he was surrounded by family - Scripture teaches the moment the silver chord is broken - your son was not clinically deceased at that time - as a medical professional & Christian - my experiences in this event in life is until that moment that’s when Jesus takes us home🕊💕 Rejoice your son is in the arms of Our Lord & Savior Christ Jesus- We are the ones who are still here on earth who are grieving bc we miss them -
I know your heartache and pain. My son went to heaven at the age of 29. He was born on my birthday. Soon we will see our sons in heaven.
Paul apparently died and came back to tell part of the story and this gives us hope, praise God. We know from Acts 2:
“’In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." So those who have experiences of hell or heaven and it's Biblical, I say Praise God. John Barnett is right, though, there are a lot of people who claim visions and it's not Biblical. As for dying and hearing, my husband was in a coma and wasn't speaking and at one point I asked him if he had any pain, and he answered, "No." I was shocked because he had been seemingly in pain. Then I cited Psalm 118:17, "I shall not die, but live and proclaim the works of the Lord," and to my amazement, he quoted this verse back to me. He died two hours later. I was told by hospice workers, hearing is the last thing to go, so praise God for this hope! I believe Jesus is coming soon for His own and I do console myself with the words Paul told us about in 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18. For the dead in Christ shall raise first and then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Comfort one another with these words!
@@gwynepearson The sentence you wrote, "hearing is the last thing to go" brings me more comfort than you can imagine because maybe my son heard me as I was the last one to whisper to him. Thank you for that.
Firstly..Colton Burpo said:'How do people get to heaven? Jesus said: well Colton if you love me & follow me, you can come to heaven. My dad's ok with that'. I heard this on one of his interviews.
I cannot go along with that..because: 1-the Bible says that He first loved us..& 2-its faith that we have to have before love. That's what Paul good news to the Gentiles was..believe..faith. what do we believe..have faith in? Jesus finished work of the cross. His blood shed for us. That's our way to heaven. Through Christ's death..so I think you shoukd tething the Cokton Burpo story.
I think he may have some vision or dream & then words were put in his mouth at a young age..
There is NO DEATH in Christ. Only life and love eternal with our Father
In other words, Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life?
At the age of 16, I died and went to heaven. I saw golden light and clouds in a tunnel. I felt the weight of sin come off me, and I had such peace and joy it was a perfect joy. I met my great grandmother, who died 8 years earlier. She said it's not your time, go back. I turned around and felt sin back on me like a heavy weight. Jesus Christ is the truth!
The Bible doesn't talk about a tunnel.
@kicnbac the Bible doesn't say the word trinity either but its there
Something very similar happened to me. I noticed that the tunnel was my memories because Jesus was with me. My great-grandfather died when I was 11 months old, but I met everyone in my family who had died in Christ during my lifetime. We were standing there, right in front of God, and Jesus was there with me the entire time.
@@kicnbac As I said in the other comment, I noticed that the tunnel was my memories. I don't know a better way to put it, but I was my concerned with Jesus since He was with me.
Bible doesn't say trinity because its not what you should believe. Only believe what is written. Not what you understand.
I hope you are blessed @jamesSmith-fl5wv
I will not argue with no one! I testify that I died of an accidental overdose ten years ago. Satan himself came to get me. Took me straight to Hell and tortured but God the Father showed me Jesus whom I called out too. Yes Jesus saved me and God almighty came walking and roared “Send her back down”! Before I left I was taken to Heaven where I saw my Mother surrounded by people in Silhouettes. My mother said “we are all here” “Come back here!” Heaven is real and I will never go to Hell again.
I TRULY a believe you

The Devil (Satan) does not collect souls to take to hell. This is a place prepared FOR the Devil and his followers. When humans die their consciousness CEASES. The breath of life is stilled and the body dies they do not go to Heaven or Hell until AFTER the day of judgement. A select few were chosen not to die but to be taken to a place of waiting until the final day but everyone else is simply unconscious.
I live by the second last words Jesus spoke on the cross. He spoke to the “good thief”, He said “Today, you will be with me in paradise”.
What a wonderful thing for that man to hear just before he died .

The Spirit departs at death. That's what death is. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, ...
If the Spirit is still there, the body cannot be dead.
So I understand...
What I think the person wanted to know is exactly when the spirit departs from a dead body.
And other issues, like brain dead. Is that person dead?
Is their spirit still there? Things like this, I didnt hear Dr. Barnett address that.
@@bobbieschendel3144 It leaves immediately upon death. I was holding my wife's hand when she flat lined. I felt her spirit leave her body at the moment of death. I felt an electric energy pass from her hand into mine, go up through my arm and exited out the side of my neck. I believe she was telling me goodbye and see you later. This tells me that at death, the spirit leaves the body immediately.
@thomasprice1320 so is death when you flat line? Is that no brain waves? Thats what Im asking.
When does death exactly occur?
And can you back up your answer with scripture? Thank you.
@@bobbieschendel3144 No, I can't back that with Scripture. Just my personal experience. As I told you, the moment my wife flat lined, which is no heartbeat, I felt my wife's spirit leave her body as it passed from her hand into mine then up my arm and exited through my neck.
I've also heard of the brain being active for a short time after death. But the fact I felt my wife's spirit leave her body after no heartbeat proves to me that the spirit leaves the body when the heart stops beating. I can say no more.
You can form your own opinion. I experienced my opinion. And, you are welcome.
The spirit can linger outside of the body a few moments or seconds when it leaves in death. Many people report floating to ceiling and seeing everything until they are they are back in the body.. That's how they can recount things that happened in and out of hospial OR or at scene of accident.
I’m going to file this in the I don’t know bucket. Too many believers recount an out of body experience and they were clinically dead! They’ve come back and recounted what they experienced. I agree, the Bible needs to be our final authority, and not an unverifiable experience. However, God can do anything He wants and as long as the account doesn’t contradict the word, it may or not be true. The Old Testament prophets described to their best ability what they witnessed. Ezekiel comes to mind. The Apostle John in revelation described the throne room. His vision lines up with the prophet Ezekiel. Christians that have died and comeback, have no reason to lie.
There are verifiable accounts, but you have to accept the evidence based on the words of the witnesses. Clinical death means no brain activity. People coming back from that is a miracle in and of itself. They shouldn't be able to recall anything while out of the body, let alone with any great detail. I don't base my faith on the accounts I hear from those who visited Heaven or Hell. It does give me pause when they come back with a personal experience that relates to struggles I experience. As long as it stays Biblical, I will listen and consider their story to be genuine.
@@jamescrumbaker3169 when it comes to spiritual issues, I try not go beyond what it’s written in the word of God. I find most of these out of body experiences interesting. Some more believable than others, but as I said, I’m putting their stories in the I don’t know bucket.
The word “ALL” things are possible with God means exactly what it states. With God nothing is impossible, therefore I try not put God in a box. Knowing full well that He would never contradict His word.
@j.a.c.7191 I've had many personal experiences that I don't know what to do with. I have dreams of things that haven't happened yet, and I've been warned of danger ahead of time while driving. I've seen mine and my best friends' kids in dreams. I knew before he did when his wife was pregnant and what they were going to have. I know there are Biblical accounts of stuff like this happening. It's just interesting when it happens to you or someone you know because you know it's true and it happened, but convincing someone else it happened is a whole different ball game 😆
According to scripture if you die you are asleep and know nothing until the day of resurrection or judgement after the 1000 years.
@@justmyopinion7 Our bodies appear to those who are living to sleep, but our souls are released from our bodies at the time of our deaths and go to one of two places: Heaven or Hell. There are multiple places in the Bible that support this (Luke 16:19-23, Luke 23:43, Philippians 1:23), but there is no support for "soul sleep" in the Bible. The verses that mention "those who sleep" speak only of their bodies, and would be in contradiction to the verses I provided that prove the opposite. Souls do not sleep. Only dead bodies do. Our souls go on.
I died of heart failure, through starvation, after my last breath, my spirit was hanging atound the ceiling, but my soul was with God.
I was up there for a long while, and only came back after a nirse walked through the door.
When i was with God, He told me, the entire Bible is real, every word is true, even the demons.
I have no idea how long i was up there for, but on my ECG i now have an irregular heartbeat clarifying it was an anteroseptal infarct.
I wasnt revived, i was dead dead. Felt my body shut down, saw the golden light, everything. People don't come back to life, after starvation induced heart failure. I weighed about 44kg. I normally weigh 84kg.
Thank you so much for all of your teaching and clarity on so many areas and subjects.

My mother, a New Ager, requested her body be given three days. She was into all kinds of devilry. Also, I don't believe anyone sees Heaven or Hell until they are permanently dead. We don't choose God, He chooses us. Praise God for His plan of salvation that includes us who were dead and unable to choose life.
When quoting Joel “Men will have visions and dream dreams” He didn’t specify whether they were legit or not. We assume they will be legit because He is pouring out His Spirit but there’s always the adversaries attempt to mimic and seeking to devour.
Im 70, and was raised a JW. I’ve been a Christian for 33 years. I’ve never been a marijuana person. Tried it, and didn’t like it. I’ve never been a good sleeper, but the last several years, I’ve had severe insomnia. So many people are taking gummies for sleep. I said no way, for over a year. But I’ve been miserable with no sleep. Prayed daily for help. Well I finically tried it, and it helped me. I read the scripture about I give you all seed bearing plants for your use. So I felt ok about trying it. Very relaxing, and haven’t had the issues I had in the 70’s. I’ve never told anyone this, as I still don’t know what to think about what happened twice in the last year. I had taken my gummy and was listening to sleep music, when all of a sudden during my prayer, I felt the spirit so strongly. The same feeling I got when I was first saved. It was so strong, and no negative thoughts. Wonderful experience, and Very emotional. I was afraid that it was a demon, as I couldn’t believe it could be God’s Holy Spirit, as I’d taken a gummy. After the second time, I prayed hard. Lord, if this is not you, please make it clear, as I don’t want to be deceived. I didn’t specifically hear from Him. When I received the Spirit 33 years ago, I prayed Lord I don’t ever want to be deceived again, and He’s been faithful. I’ve had many tell me that I have discernment. I can spot evil, immediately. So I don’t know what to think. After watching this sermon, I wanted to talk to you about I experienced. Thank you for your sermons, we watch you almost daily. We’re in a to tiny town, and go to the Cowboy Church.
When my husband was dying, he refused food, water all if it but kept trying to speak (he was unable) and point to the foot of the bed. Its real. There are too many accounts of people who are PASTORS or others who have much to lose by speaking out and appearing crazy. Many near death experiences are real. There are documented cases of blind from birth being able to describe the hospital from outside and the park down the street and then heaven. Blind from BIRTH!
Another reason to not discount NDE's. In one famous case, a woman died on the operating table...flatlined, then told her doctor in recovery room that there was a single blue tennis shoe on the roof of the hospital. Sure enough there was.
Our Special-needs daughter with multiple disabilities was in the hospital and she had a medical emergency. She stopped breathing for 30 seconds and her brain couldn’t handle that, so she was intubated and put on oxygen. And we were called at home to come to the hospital. we called our daughter, who is engaged to be married in a couple of months;and her fiancé, came, who was a paramedic. I knew that she was gone because she responded to no stimuli at all. Even the irises in her eyes. were completely dilated, I often wondered, if her spirit was in her body or near her body to see her family come around her. Three days later with Gift Of Life we donated both of her kidneys To two other people.
TRULY sorry for your loss. She gave life to others.
Excellent scripturally accurate assessment of these heavenly visitations.
A great video! A good example ;”. my puppy will be there in heaven when I get there” . Not in the word, but we all hope it’s true. We’ll just have to see.

I can testify and 2 others there saw this! My Grandma was saved and loved Jesus. She was in the hospital and dying. It was would be her birthday at midnight. It was about 11 pm and we were telling her, “you are going to have the best birthday ever with Jesus”. My Grandma was fighting it seemed to stay alive. She would kind of talk to us and open her eyes. We told her how much we all loved her and talked more about how she will get to see her husband (our Grandpa) , her mom & Dad and others in heaven.
It was after midnight and then we said, “Noonie”, we called her that. “It is your birthday, go and celebrate with Jesus and all in Heaven.”. It is ok. It is time. We will see you again. She then said, “I see Jesus”, “Oh it’s so beautiful!!!!!!”
Grandma took a deep breath in and THEN… we ALL witnessed a LIGHT, like a shadow move from her head down her body!!!!!! We all said together, “did you see that”? We all 3 witnessed what we believe was the spirit leaving my Grandma’s body. I will never forget that. That was about 30 years ago.
I cannot wait to see her again.
Misleading title. No discussion of when the spirit leaves the body.

I commented on another video about when your heartbeat stops, where do you go, but I never got any replies so I'm commenting on this video. This was my comment: "So....this didn't really answer the question. At least it didn't for me and my circumstance. My husband died suddenly on October 13, 2023 from cardiac arrest. It was such a shock because he was always a healthy, strong man. He was 82 but not an "old" 82, if you know what I mean. Anyway, he said he had a chest pain and I immediately called 911. The EMT's came within 5 minutes. He was conscious and even walked out to the ambulance. Within 2 minutes of him getting in the ambulance, he started screaming and thrashing and then he went silent. According to the attendee, he was pulseless and unconscious. I believe he died right then but they brought his vitals back after shocking him 2 times in the ambulance. He was shocked 3 more times at the hospital. He never regained consciousness. I knew he was gone when I got to the ER but he was being kept "alive" with a ventilator and respirator. All this to ask you....when he went unconscious and was pulseless in the ambulance, did his soul leave his body that instant to be in the presence of the Lord? What do you think happens even if the body is kept "alive" artificially and there are vitals? I think about this all the time." I don't think he answered the question on this video, either. He seems to go all over the place and never addresses the topic.
I work on people with cardiac arrest,I work in a Cath lab.I know that if God wants you, there is nothing we can do ,and we can do a lot,to stop you from going, and conversely if he wants you here hopeless situations become survivable.A lesson I learned early was that people dying can teach lessons to the living in their proximity, and the way they go in itself can be a powerful testimony.Gods plans and ways are beyond us,I generally don't believe that we do real Christians a favor by keeping a body barely alive and anchoring them here, but God knows best.Gods blessings to you and I pray you meet your husband in heaven
Very instructive .

It was at the very beginning. Then the volume got back to normal.
The Spirit departs the body when the heart stops. One arrives in Paradise initially. That is what we would think of as a nature preserve. Plats there are conscious, full of God’s Love. Unless you return to the body relatively quickly there appears a barrier of some kind and you know if you cross that you know you will not return. A small percentage are allowed to see Heaven Proper which is another step forward. It is still possible to return. What one is allowed to see and know is at God’s pleasure.
Well, when I died, Jesus was right there, He was with me the entire time. We went up to heaven, to the Throne of Glory. The longest I've been dead, I think (because who knows?) is from around 6pm to around 3am. That's not "relatively quickly." And I think you are correct, I was allowed to see and know "everything" -- but I couldn't take it back with me.
When I was in Israel at Jesus tomb they said that Jews believed the spirit didn’t leave the body until the 4th day. I don’t know if that is still their belief. It would explain why Jesus waited until the 4th day to raise Lazarus. If He had gone earlier the people wouldn’t have considered him dead.
I remember one person, I think it might have been this boy, who said he saw Jesus and he said he had scars in his palms......that's a problem...we know the spikes had to be in the wrists in order to hold the weight of the body - if the spikes were in the palms they would rip thru as soon as the weight of the body was pulling down.
I worked in emergency rooms and held my wife's hand after she'd been resuscitated. If you're there at the time, you'll know.
We're in the age of enlightenment . No these things arnt in the Bible. God has lifted the veil for us and I consider it a gift and a privilege fr those of us here , now , to hv things revealed to us unlike no other generation before us . In Revelation it tells us young and old alike will get dreams and visions . I feel bad you downplayed anyone getting visions from our Lord. What a blessing ❤ Thank you Jesus for your word that told us of these days 🙏
Thank you because I have listened to a guy who is telling everyone about his death and heaven experience...he always cries when telling his testimony. Randy Kay...
I believe Randy Kay did experience all that he says he did.
I couldn't hear much of any of this. The sound was too low.
Did not answer the question
I've been there, done that. What would you like to know? It's pretty much all there in 2 Corinthians 12.
If you are saved, born again, I can absolutely say, without hesitation, when you die, your spirit is immediately in the presence of the Lord.
For those of you who are not saved and you were trying to intellectually solve this that’s your first problem. Your first problem is you’re not saved, but your second problem is that this is not an intellectual question. This is a spiritual question and I can tell you this without any hesitation whatsoever you don’t have to try and approach the Christian the true Christian the born again Christian. Because we know the truth.
I think it was about a minute, from here to Glory. Only those in Christ were there: past, present, and future.
Well John, meet the second person that has been caught up to the third heaven; the first heaven is the earth's atmosphere, the second outer space, and the third is above your conscious being. When I was about 6 or 7 years old, second grade, one day in class this kid that should have been in the third grade but had been held back due to bad behavior -- behavior so bad that the teacher had his desk next to hers at the head of the class room -- called me up to his desk. He said something insulting. I thought to myself, "I have the right to punch this guy, but I'm not going to". This was really out of character for me, as I usually would tie into someone like that without even thinking. I started walking back to my desk and had taken 3 or 4 steps and had reached the students desks when I was caught up, and I have to say whether in the body or out, I do not know. All I know is that God spoke to me and prophesied my life (13 words, and 6 of them were "... but you shall never be rich". When I came back I was still walking back to my seat; had not fallen or anything else. God does not dwell in time as there is no time in heaven. I did not SEE ANYTHING. So, I have been there. The Father probably did this to strengthen my faith in later years for all the hell and hatred I have endured. I have seen a lot of videos on NDE and one thing that stands out is that all these people are seeing a "different" place. Seems to me that if they had actually been there that the description would always be the same matching the Bible description.
As a side note: when God first started calling me as a teenager I started reading about the great religions of the world. Reading about Buddhism in Tibet there were stories of "soul travel" where the monks would leave their bodies and travel to different places. I was intrigued by this and wanted to experience it. One night I woke up from sleep and was looking down at my body (typical NDE). It scared me so bad that I immediately popped right back into my body. Been there, done that. I have never wanted to "soul travel" again; do not want it, do not need it. ADVICE: STAY IN YOUR BODY, you do not need that kind of crap !!!
sounds demonic!
It does not matter….
Time ceases to exist at the moment of death. Time is only a reference for man living in a physical world.
It's kind of the opposite, I mean, it was like I was in eternity. It was weird going into that and coming back out (from time to eternity and back again).
Why didn’ Lazarus tell everyone about heaven after he was dead for 4 days?
Excellent thought!
Wow … This is a really good question
Because there isn't a book of Lazarus in the Bible, he didn't write anything down, if he told anyone about it they didn't write it down, and maybe like the apostle Paul, he didn't want to talk about it.
Who knows? Maybe he did and it's not recorded. My experience was exactly like 2 Cor 12, maybe slightly longer because I was allowed to meet those in Christ who had died during my lifetime.
Titus 3:9 "But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." Why even entertain weird questions which there is no answer for. If you are dead then who cares after that?
Watched my husband’s spirit leave his body the second he stopped breathing, it’s about the size of a hard ball, is so alive, turning and turning, whitish color, then saw it race towards Heaven.
Great heading..but go off in a tangent to it.
Does the spirit or soul leave the body? Which one first or both at the same time ?
the truth is there is no time when present with the Lord! but scripture states the dead will rise first, for them to rise they have to be on earth, like when Jesus was crucified the dead saints rose and went into town! but for the dead to rise during harpazo { rapture } they have to be here! I cant speak for those who claim to have met Christ outside the Body ? but scripture tells us the truth! time is tricky when it is not present ! Time only exists in material world !
Randy Kay's NDE ministry on youtube is more effective in bringing people back to Christ than yours. Is that of Satan or blessed by God? You two should talk and give us the result please. Because all those christians testimonies strengthened my faith and renewed my Spirit. (And got me watching you) Thanks and God bless your great ministry and hard work!
We’ll said, I totally agree. Thank you for this info
That's what happened to me, but Jesus was with me the entire time. Also, I've died more than once and He keeps sending me back. The "and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter" -- heard that too. Everything was as the word of God said -- not sure why to "glory" about this because dying isn't fun and if you believe Jesus, then this is what happens to everyone.
The ONLY people I saw there were those in Christ, no one else.
I don't know about that book mentioned in the video, but there is nothing in the Holy Bible saying that more information won't be revealed. And this is a potential danger, but it is also a potential Revelation. The Holy Bible speaks about desiring to prophesy, so there is also the danger of silencing what God has revealed.
EDIT: Not addressed in the video was how long to wait after death. One time I died I think around 6pm and came back around 3am. They were going to put my body into the morgue. What if they had done so?
I think we all get something new according to the body
We sleep until Jesus returns to create his kingdom on earth and raise the saints, he will come back with a loud shout and trumpet blast, read your bible,
I'm confused on that, He told the thief on the cross he would be in Paradise with Him that same day. Can someone clear that up?

Many accept the belief in the immortality of the soul, that when the body dies, there is a part called "the soul" (or some say the "spirit"), that lives on forever, as a "ghost" of the dead person (such as believing that "Samuel" at 1 Samuel 28 was really Samuel speaking to King Saul, but was in fact, a demon impersonating Samuel, see Deut 18:10-12).
So, is the soul immortal ? The simple answer is no. Of the soul, the Bible shows it as NOT something "breathed into us", but that it is us as a person with all our desires, for here is how Genesis 2:7 reads according to the King James Bible:
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul", so that only upon Adam starting to breath was he a "living soul", and before he started breathing, he was a dead soul.
The word "soul" is the Hebrew word nephesh that literally means "breather or breathing creature", so that any creature that breathes IS a soul and does NOT possess a soul, and when a soul stops breathing, they become a DEAD soul. At Deuteronomy 12:20, according to the King James Bible, it reads:
"When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after", showing the soul eating "flesh" or meat.
At Leviticus 23:30, according the King James Bible, it reads: "And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day (or Day of Atonement, verse 27), the same soul will I destroy from among his people", so that the soul can be destroyed.
At Jeremiah 2:34, according to the King James Bible, it reads: "Also in thy skirts is found the blood of the souls of the poor innocents: I have not found it by secret search, but upon all these", so that the soul has blood. So what is it that eats meat, breathes, bleeds when cut ? Us as a person that can be destroyed.
At Isaiah 53:12, it reads of Jesus Christ: "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he (Jesus Christ) shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."(King James Bible)
Thus, at Matthew 26:38, it reads of Jesus saying: "Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me."(King James Bible) So, Jesus as "a breather, a breathing creature", died, no longer being "a living soul", but upon death, became a DEAD soul.
It is as Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10 states: "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know NOT any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.......Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might (while alive); for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."(King James Bible)
Of the spirit, that is the Hebrew word ruach or Greek pneuma, it means a person's active, life force (that can be likened to electricity for an appliance that keeps it "alive"), or enthusiasm for life and is the SAME word for wind in the Bible. For example, at Genesis 6:3, according to the King James Bible, it reads: "And the Lord said, My spirit ("spirit", Hebrew ruach, or his motivation to act) shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years."
At Genesis 8:1, according to the King James Bible, it reads: "And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind ("wind", Hebrew ruach) to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged."
At John 3:8, Jesus told Nicodemus, according to the King James Bible: "The wind (Greek pneuma) bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit (Greek pneuma)."
So, the word "spirit" in the Bible means that which is invisible, but produces visible results, just as wind does, and also applies to those in the spirit realm, God, whose name is Jehovah (see Isa 12:2, KJV), the angels (Ps 104:4), and even the demons, called "unclean spirits".(Matt 10:1)
At Ecclesiastes 3:18, 19, it says: "I also said in my heart about the sons of men that the true God will test them and show them that they are like animals, for there is an outcome for humans and an outcome for animals; they all have the same outcome."
"As the one dies, so the other dies; and they all have but one spirit ("spirit", Hebrew ruach or all have the same life force that keeps them alive). So man has no superiority over animals, for everything is futile."(New World Translation)
So, when Ecclesiastes 12:7 says that upon death, "then the dust (or the person made from "the dust", see Gen 3:19) returns to the earth (or decays), just as it was, and the spirit ("spirit", Hebrew ruach) returns to the true God who gave it (in which only Jehovah God can restore the life force to a dead person, by means of a resurrection, see Isa 26:19).
Thus, there are NO ghosts or "souls (or spirits) of the dead", no immortal soul, but there are "unclean spirits", demons who want people to believe this lie, as well as all other lies taught by the religions of the world called Babylon the Great (Rev 17:5, in which Christendom is a major part), where "unclean spirits" or demons make their home.(Rev 18:2, 3)
Heb 1: no dreams, visions, arudy your Bible kjv!!!
The kjv says that the man heard things that were not lawful to utter... He also says the man was caught not him.
I'm convinced that there's definitely something going on with it, there's at least some truth to it.
Jesus Christ is the Resurrection and the Life, whoever believes in Him, though He were dead, yet shall he live. This has happened to be many times. Two of those times, the doctors said to me, "You're dead." Who does that? But they did, and I quoted that verse to them (one was at a hospital where I was told all the doctors were present).
@ts-900 You had an NDE?
@@bernardthefourth Yes, several. But the ones I've mentioned I believe were very real.
The reason why I believe this is that I was really dead, and God brought me back.
Concerning just the two I mentioned:
The first one, all the doctors in the hospital were there to witness the dead guy who was made alive in Christ. They ran 12 tests that said I was dead.
The second one, apparently I was dead from around 5 or 6pm to around 3am. I was DOA, and they declared me dead three times -- or so they tell me. The last time was by the county coroner. They had to "undo" my death on the tapes that they sent to the state capital so that I wouldn't have to go to court.
Where does Paul say he died and went to heaven? I must be overlooking it. I do see where he survived a vicious stoning and was left for dead, but survived by Gods grace because God still had much for Paul to accomplish. I can also see Paul experiencing a vision such as Stephen did, but Paul survived. Help me understand without me having to make assumptions, please.
Paul was referring to his own experience in 2 Corinthians chapter 12.
He spoke humbly in 3rd person (about himself) in 2 Corinthians 12:2-4.
Doesn't matter if it was Paul or another, Jesus promised that He would do such things, and He did. There were many resurrected from the dead at that time.
Why does this video stop abruptly?
Re issued from a few years back maybe 8-10. Probably just shortened.
Ecc 12:6,7. "To dust shall it return as it was, and the Spirit shall return to God who gave it." You cant "return" to a place you never been to.
Why not? Jesus was with me the entire time, it's His life to give and to take -- and to give again as He desires.
I am still alive and i am trying to live a good Christian life now because of these kinds of supernatural experiences that Dr Barnett is being dismissive and patronising about. Ive had a life full of these types of things and they are very real. Its only since i learnt more about the Bible and accepted God and Jesus and creation for what they truly are that i truly understand why these things happen and why they exist and the general nature and purpose of both good and evil.
Imagine being one of those people there, listening to this and you were one of the people that had tried to talk about your very real experience or experiences, for spiritual guidance and understanding, and this is what you get in response? Its very wrong and irresponsible to do that. Especially as there is no good reason to do that.
Is there no precedent in the Bible for dreams and visions, angels and demons or the many other kinds of supernatural, paranormal or spiritual experiences that people have? Is there anywhere in the Bible that says none of those things will ever happen to anyone after Paul had his experience on the road to Damascus and the period of his life after that that he wrote about?
You re wong. All word of faith r squirrely!! Heb 1. To us, very clear. Experience over the Book is wrong.

Please, when will Acts 2:17-18 happen please???
It will happen in God’s perfect timing.
It helps to keep it in context of that time when Peter quoted the Prophet in the book of Joel (OT). The HS had descended on the disciples and they were acting strangely according to onlookers who were mocking them of being drunk. Peter was defending them and showing them that the HS had been poured out upon these men. As it was happening right at that moment.
However, the remainder of that prophecy Peter is quoting is arguable as to whether or not it has come to pass. Many believe that those hours of darkness are what happens right before Yeshua/Jesus’ return.
This is my person opinion so take it with a grain of salt. I find that scripture is fluid. Meaning, God is so awesome that everything he spoke through the prophets is fluid. By fluid I mean it can apply to the past, the present AND the future. Looking at His Word in this light leaves my intellect out of it and makes me crave to seek further understanding (but with my feet firmly planted on the ground, of course). IF this perspective is allowed, one can conclude that Peter was talking about that time and it followed Yeshua’s death on the cross when the HS was descended and continues to this day and will continue for forever.
So, you could say it is now but also the future.
This is what scripture means when it states “Who can understand the mind of God?” It’s too big for us and even for the likes of the Apostles and disciples.
An experience I had has assured me the departure from the body is within seconds. There is a golden light and a tunnel.

5:39 The Eternal Spirit of grace, living water of life, will never leave mankind that is poured out after the crucifixion. The holy spirit will leave the believers flesh after his death, and not everyone receives the holy spirit that is given to the believers by Jesus Christ as Jesus christ is the only one who knows the hearts of man.

Why do you doubt? What else do you doubt? Do you need to put your finger in his wound? The enemy does not want you to know
Preachers that absolutely positively "know" make me a little nervous. I'm not sure we're supposed to know everything
Read your Bible. The dead sleep. They know nothing until the resurection.
So how do explain the story Jesus told about the poor man Lazarus being in the bosom of Abraham and the rich man in hell asking for favors from God? When Jesus was describing a real situation He started it “A certain man” so it was a reality. Not to mention when Jesus told the thief on the cross today you will be with Me in paradise?
@@joecook8352 It's not complicated. Rather than focus on one or two lines in the Bible in order to support an assertion (which anyone can do for just about any assertion) we must look at the preponderance of scripture. So we need more witnesses, so to speak (more scripture). Clearly, Jesus was not in Heaven with the thief, "This day" because Jesus slept in the grave on the Sabbath and then rose on the following day. So that one is isn't even arguable. We can chalk it up to a misplaced comma. "I tell you today, (comma, meaning that today is the day that I tell you), you will be with me in paradise."
As for the parable of the gulf between the saved and the unsaved, it must be seen as just that, a parable, like the many other parables Jesus used to get various points across. WHY must we view that as a parable? Simple; because the preponderance of scripture regarding the state of the dead says, very clearly, repeatedly and without equivocation, that the dead sleep until the resurrection. More witnesses.
@@omnivore2220 perfect. Agree - read it in context with other Scripture and punctuation consideration.
As a counter to your opinion (not scripture), why would God allow believers to visit heaven if anything or everything would be illegal to mention once returning? Why would seeing your recent departed loved ones there and them seated having coffee & reading the word be out of bounds? Why would any of the old and new Testament saints who visited heaven be allowed to see heaven themselves (other than being instructed to "write these things down")? One of six experiences I've had visiting heaven was God healing a relationship in the future (here on earth) between a relative and myself. That relationship is indeed now restored.
Yes, perhaps what Paul saw wasn't lawful to write about, but then again we're not given any idea of what he saw either (as was John forbidden about a particular event in Revelation). Considering that, the Streets of gold, the river that flows from the thrown, the trees of life on each side of that river, the buildings that are there, the angels that circle the thrown continuously are all listed in the word, why would it be unlawful to have seen and mention them back on earth?
It happens immediately!!!
That's for sure! No sooner had I fallen over dead, that I stood back up and there was Jesus!
2 Corinthians 12:1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 12:3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
As long a "the silver cord" or energy cord is still attached to the physical body you are still alive, whether appearing deceased or not. When it is disconnected or snapped we are deceased never to return to that body. The accounts of NDEs and OBEs are those of people who have temporarily been removed from the physical body - usually due to some form of trauma. We are released from the body during sleep but that is under "controlled" circumstances and we retain virtually no memory of such. Out of body experiences are encounters in Paradise - not Heaven although compared to earth conditions Paradise will seem like Heaven. Nobody living in the physical world can attain Heaven.
This is what happens when you do not correct people and they know not the truth. Revelation 12:9 Did not Jesus correct people, telling them how they greatly error in scripture? 1 Peter 2:21 I know this is not the best verse to use speaking how we should suffer like him, but it does state we should follow the actions he displayed for us when he was with them. But anyways, when you die your soul sleeps until God pours out spirits and then at the sound of the last trumpet you shall be raised into judgment, for no one has spirits for you have not been anointed by God yet. God bless

I personally believe in Todd/Colton Burpo's story. I believe it is verifiable. And I believe that you, by denying the validity of many of these stories, are missing out on God's pouring out of his Spirit in the last days.
At 6:10 the speaker begins to speak of "paradise" in conventional human space and time. Herein is the fatal flaw of such discussions. It is either spiritual (does not comport to the rules of space and time of existence as we in human form know) or it is not. Angels depicted with wings - a physical device to displace air and cause elevation - a device not needed by a spiritual being. Secondly "experience over word." The Bible is central to human understanding of who we are and how we relate to God. It is essential. It is sacred. It is dependable for the common understanding. It is NOT everything. It is at times dangerous. Those who have centered faith practice around Luke 10:19 and Mark 16:17-18 are examples. Narrow reads of scripture is narrow mindedness.
Say what you will, but I had a 2 Corinthians 12 experience, and Jesus was there with me the entire time.

The way to tell is to match it up with the Holy Bible.
Paradise is the Heavenly Garden of Eden
I very firmly believe that Colton Burpo’s heaven experience was real.
Just because we may not have experienced the same thing he did, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Just because someone says they had a "heaven experience" doesn't mean it actually happened either.
He said that when he asked Jesus how to get to heaven that Jesus said:'if you love Me & follow me that will be ok with my father'.
It's by faith in Jesus work of the cross-the shedding of His blood that is our redeeming grace.
And the Bible says that He first loved us..we may only love after we know how great is God's mercy to us.
I respect you but you sometimes say stupid things thst are not scripture
This is why I no longer listen to these NDA’s anymore. When they don’t mention Jesus, when they say things, as Pastor Barnett said, “Don’t jive with the Bible,” then this is not for me. The enemy is sneaky and conniving, and he knows we are weak human beings.
Everything that happened to me is in the Bible, and Jesus was with me the entire time. I've also had Near-death experiences, but I put them into the same category as "dreams and visions." But this was clearly a 2 Cor. 12 thing.
These near death experiences, if true, would only be temporary. I do not think that there are saints up in heaven awaiting the resurrection to receive their spiritual bodies.
1 Corinthians 15:20-23 KJVS
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. [21] For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. [22] For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. [23] But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
I have had Near-death experiences, and I place them into the "dreams and visions" category. But I've also died and gone to heaven. The difference between Paul's account and mine was that Jesus was my escort. I was allowed to meet my relatives who had died in Christ during my lifetime. Many others were raised from the dead while Jesus was on earth.
The Bible speaks of heaven and back accounts. Are they not true as well? Should we then approach what the Bible says about heaven and back accounts with doubt as well?
Lazerus died and came back to life. Paul was not the only one.
