I copy every document, and also leave copies of them all with someone at home, including the numbers to call to report lost or stolen bank cards. I do carry my passport on me at all times, in an underclothing money belt . It’s the law in some countries for foreigners. I don’t even feel it now , Im so used to it. If for some reason you can’t get back to your accommodation, such as fire, earthquake, or any sort of “event”, at least you can get out of town fast!
One time I couldn’t find my drivers license going through security at the airport. I had I had my license, but couldn’t find it at the moment.. I pulled out my global entry card. They accepted that right away.
One time on a plane I was able to read a guy’s whole letter being dumped by his girlfriend on his phone sitting next to me! Privacy screens are important!
Thank you so much for these tips. As always, I am grateful you share your experiences with us when traveling so we can have a great and positive experience ourselves.

I have used an RFID money belt, have 2 RFID Travelon pouches for currency that will fit in that or the smaller one in the neck wallet I have..., Have an older non-RFID neck wallet by Eagle Creek (It holds more than the newer model as was as the Travelon version which has fewer pockets). I have used a RFID PacSafe folding holder with a snap for my cards here at home...so, It will sandwich in my passport and all cards and that also can slip into that neck wallet, too! The phone sleeve is definitely something I will look into!
Living on a border city, I probably shop more in the US than in Canada (we don't have Aldi and Trader Joes!) I hate having to bring my passport everywhere, because it's bulky and I'm afraid of it getting lost. But we don't have passport cards in Canada, and you can no longer get an enhanced drivers license here either. I wish we had passport cards, they would be so much more convenient. I'm old enough to remember when a regular old driver's license was sufficient to cross the border.
I’m in a border city too, and we have enhanced licenses. When I want my French fries and gravy in Canada, I can leave home with just my license and leave the passport home.
I usually take my passport out of the hotel safe the night before we leave. That way I don’t have to worry about not being able to get into the safe in the morning. I just keep it next to me on the bed or whatever.
PS: If you are travelling in Japan, you have to carry your passport with you. It's the law (you also need it for Duty Free shopping). If you are stopped by the Police, they will want to see your passport and will accompany you to your hotel if you have left your passport there. It sounds crazy, but it does happen.

Can you link the cable lock on the side of the personal safe?

Data blockers have a reputation for destroying USB ports and/or bricking devices. As for 'power only' cables, good idea, but where do you get them?
