Copies of your license, insurance, car title and other important documents included in your bag are invaluable, as are the “10 essentials” of backpacking. I also have an external hard drive w/ my family photos. A Duplicate set of your keys. Lastly prepare an evacuation bag & carriers for your pets! Pics of ALL of your stuff for insurance claims!!! Duplicates of Whatever valuables you might lose in a disaster, are also absolutely invaluable. Great idea to do a trial run yearly! Your side by side bag is an invaluable addition to any bug out bag! Thank you Eunice, excellent video as always!!
Thank you so much, Yvonne! all great information and ideas for us to be more prepared in case a disaster happens and you have to evacuate! I also keep photos of important documents on Google Drive so that if my physical ones get wet or burned as long as I can get to an electronic device and log into my Google Drive I can get access to my documents. Thanks so much for watching and commenting and love your feedback!🥰
Love this video. I have always had a go-bag. I have a flash drive with copies of titles, cash sale seeds and any other important documents and papers plus an external hard drive with all my photos and videos. My husband and son always made fun of me for having a go-bag but when my son became an adult, he made a go-bag. When a construction site across from his apartment blew up and they had to evacuate quickly, he grabbed his wife, pets and go-bag. He told me he learned from me to be prepared. Made my day that he and his wife were safe and were able to get out quickly thanks to his go-bag.
I grew up in an area that had monsoon season. Even outside of that season we would get terrible tropical storms. I've started building a go bag with an old backpack. I've seen a lot of males do these types of videos so I'm glad to stumble upon a video from a woman who has experienced evacuation. Thank you for your suggestions!!
Not sure where you live but I have been in Southeast Asia during monsoon season and it could be pretty terrifying! As a matter fact whenever I’m in that situation I carry pretty much a go bag with me everywhere. Especially in some countries with monsoons you just don’t know where you’re going to get swept away to! Thank you for watching and commenting and best of luck in the giveaway!
@@TheoryofSimple Yes! I grew up back and forth in SEA and the US. I just subscribed a few days ago because of your minimal trabel videos so this video came at the right time!
I would definitely give it to my daughters to help them with their emergency bags I’ve taught them about emergencies since they were little since we lived in Hawaii my oldest is really prepared my youngest still learning 😊
Great idea! It’s good to hear that you are prepared and have taught your daughters to be prepared as well. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway and I look forward to your feedback on my other videos! Thank you, Harriet!😀
I live in an area where we have to deal with Hurricanes each season. I keep a go bag ready in my home and car. I also make a laminated list of phone numbers of family members and keep important documents in a sealed bag. This kit would be a great addition to my go bag, as I try to improve it every year. I also love your videos and thought process when packing your bags for travel or edc. Thanks 👍
Thank you, Latrice! Thise hurricanes are no joke! Great idea to keep a laminated copy of pertinent information just in case your cell phone dies and you can’t get to it! So happy you are enjoying my contact and I wish you the best of luck in the giveaway!
You are my sister from another mother!!!! You think exactly the way I do as far as safety, what to carry, and its better to be a little over prepared then not being prepared at all. My family and I went through 3 hurricanes in a row that hit Florida before Katrina hit New Orleans. But I will tell you we had a the best meals ever!!!! We would invite our neighbors and they wanted to stay with us because they were not prepared and all they had was sodas and crackers. Truly enjoy your Chanel I subscribed and like your videos very much!!!! Thank you for all your hard work! You are helping a lot of people out there!!!!
Hi Tish! definitely cut from the same cloth! I’m a classic Overthinker and someone is always over prepared. But I don’t know how many times people have come to being said thank goodness you had whatever it was they needed. That is a lot of hurricanes to go through and a lot of scariness! Thank you so much for subscribing and watching and commenting and I look forward to your feedback in my other videos! Good luck in the giveaway!
I've had a go bag since 1987, earthquake bag back then as I lived in the Bay area. Now it's a hurricane bag (East coast), and I plan to add several items as a result of this video. Of course, if I win, the whole kit goes in!
Hi there former bay area person! I also live in the East Coast for many years! Lived in New England and we only had a couple of hurricanes come up that caused any damage but I have always had some sort of a bag prepared. Make sure you get some of those stashes bags to keep your electronics dry! Good luck in the giveaway!
I live in Kentucky, where we've had serious tornadoes and flooding this year. To top that, we are on a major fault line and we've been having tremors over the last few months. I keep a GO bag in my closet (my tornado safety zone) with essentials for me, and food, water and a litter box for my cat, along with his carrier. I really need to have a backpack ready for evacuation -- such a good idea. The lightweight dry bags are new to me: my old camping gear has those heavy vinyl dry bags - too heavy for a backpack. Thank you for sharing this! I am furiously taking notes! Cheers
Hi Barb! I’m so happy you have some plan in place to help you in case of a crisis situation! Always great to think of our pets as well! When my parents had the earthquake at their house their cats bolted and we’re lost for a week! I keep my go bag in my house but I also have things in my car in case I’m not at home and I can’t get to my go bag and I’ll make that video soon! Thanks so much for watching and commenting and I look forward to your feedback on my other videos. By the way I love your profile picture!
Completely agree 100% I had one and I lost it so I need to replace it so thank you so much for reminding me about that! Thank you so much for watching in the feedback!
I've also got a go-bag set up for our animals. We aren't leaving without then so we have rolling go bag and a carrier with a trolly to put over it. (Both can become backpacks if necessary). If including pets in your exit strategy (you should, they're your family) remember food, harness, photos (actual photos in case they go missing and there's no internet), blankets, and toys to keep them calm. From experience, taking care of little animals sometimes is all the distraction you need to keep you focused on the task at hand and not the mayhem of the moment.
Excellent information on evacuating with pets, Nancy! they are a part of our family and it is so important to make sure that they are taken care of to because they’re going to be confused as to what’s going on and scared as well! Thank you so much for watching and giving us this feedback! 😀🥰
This video came at just the perfect time. Since having kids I prepared an emergency bag but always felt like I was missing something(s). I would watch bug-out videos but they always felt a bit crazy with weapons for protection/hunting and building tools which I don't know how to use but want to be prepared just in case. This was perfectly practical. I would add a bit more because of children but I'm feeling very motivated to update our bag. Thanks Eunice!
You are so welcome! I am so happy that you were putting a kit together especially since you have children! It’ll be a little different for you and I don’t know how old your kids are but if they’re really young you’re going to have to carry a bit more for them. I’m so glad you found this video practical! I try to be honest about my opinions and examples of what I carry. Looking forward to your feedback on my other videos!
I agree with kids, you need specific things for them. This list is to start and add things for the kids. They can each have their own bag they carry with their specific things they may need. Great job fellow mom
@@deirdresmith2094 agree! Kids can start to learn to pack their special things and have a small photo book with pics of family members and names and contact info just in case they get separated from parents.
I love how you designed it with a shelter in mind. That is the most likely scenario if a disaster was to happen. Most emergency bag videos I see seem to think that they will immediately be in woods survival mode.
Thank you! Yes! I wanted to be is real about this as possible because I don’t see myself getting stranded out in the woods, even though I have been a ranger and have been out in the woods for a long time. Most people are going to just need some sort of bag to get some through being in a shelter for a few days and hopefully just a few days. Thank you so much for recognizing that your feedback.💕😊
I am so obsessed (in a good way!) with always being prepared and feeling as safe and secure as I can, in my surroundings. Earthquakes and fires are the risks near me. Our kit is rudimentary and there are many items I didn't know exisited! Knowing what I need and acually having it ,would be a huge peace of mind for me and our family. I just found your channel tonight and I love it! Now it's 4am and I can't stop watching! LOL
Hi Amanda! So Haley you found my channel! It’s great that you’re putting together a go bag to help you in a crisis situation and that you’re finding some great new items that will help make you more comfortable and safe.
Hurricanes, flooding, and tsunami's were a the main threats where I grew up. I remember blackouts, boiling water, using candles and flashlights, taping/boarding up windows, school drills, and leaving home to find higher ground and safe centers. As a child, I thought it was kind of fun. Now I realize that having to bug in or out is a stressful situation. I started seriously prepping when I was gathering items for my son's college emergency bag just before the pandemic. You can imagine a lot of scenarios when you're separated from your family and home. It's tough to outfit a family and have contingencies, but it's a work in progress. I stumbled upon your channel while watching a mix of travel, emergency/survival videos, and backpacking videos. I LOVE discovering cool and useful gear, making kits, and having backups! All the Side by Side items are great for travel, edc, outdoor activities, and emergency kits! You are savvy, spot on, and thorough! Thank you for your informative and resourceful content.
Thank you so very much! I think the kid we always think those kind of things are kind of like camping but as an adult we realize it is a survival situation. I think we also realize that whatever we have on our back maybe all that’s left of our life as we knew it. So that’s why we want to pack and play in carefully and not just be in a panic and throw things into a bag that are useless. I am so glad that you found my channel and that you’re finding this Content useful. Good luck in the giveaway!
I have preps in my car but really need to pull my house preps into a bag. I have a hiking tote but not as easy to grab and go. I like the Side by Side items. The document bag would be great to add to a go bag.
Hi Kimberly! I had to go back home together for a long time it was just way up in a closet that was hard to get to. And then I realized if there was an earthquake and I couldn’t get to it I’d be SOL. Now I keep it close in hand so that I can grab and go quickly. After being evacuated from the fire last year it taught me a lot of lessons! This thing called life, it’s always teaching us something! Good luck in the giveaway!
This video was perfect for me. It's hard to find sensible videos about emergency preparation that aren't about ww3 or zombies, so thank you very much for this video. Everything was super coherent and understandable!
Thank you! And I agree, we need to prepare for the most common scenarios…have yet to be in a zombie apocalypse! But I have been in floods, fires, hurricanes and earthquakes and even if you think you don’t live in an area prone to these things, better to be prepared than sorry!💕😊🙏
I sure do miss living in the Bay Area! ☹️ In Cajun Country here in Louisiana, and we’ve have had to evacuate almost annually due to hurricanes. A go-bag is absolutely essential. I found you while looking for travel tips/hacks, but I was so happy to see your videos like this as a reminder to stay vigilant, and to consider items that I hadn’t thought about. We do have a binder for important docs/contacts/medications, but the Side By Side items would be perfect for consolidating those, and it would be great to use the items to split up our supplies. Thanks for all these ideas and letting us see how much can fit in a small package!
I really appreciate how practical your gear list is. I think it's much more in line with the kind of emergency most people are likely to encounter. I used to work in a shelter and there's a lot of small things people don't think of that can really change your experience. One thing I would suggest you add is disposable gloves. I like latex because they fit better and don't come with irritating powder. They are great for all kinds of things you might not think of, not just first aid. cooking (at home or camping), cleaning, changing your tire... they work better than hand sanitizer.
Thank you! I appreciate your feedback! Yes! I do have them in my first aid kit! 😊. I’ll have to make a video on that soon too! I packed nitrile gloves because some people are allergic to latex.
Hi Eric, thank you so much and yes you are absolutely right it just seems like there are more of these disasters happening and evacuation is happening. So happy to provide this information and you are very welcome!
When our kids were small I always kept a large tote in my car filled with supplies for everything imaginable. I've been really lax since they're now all grown up. A kit to help get started or to supplement what I already have on hand would be so nice, but I'm going to put an evacuation bag on the top of my project list right now!
Hi Karen, I remember when my kids were little I use their diaper bag as kind of that go bag because as you know with kids you’re always need something. Now that I have grandkids I’m kind of reliving that. So glad you’re putting a go bag together to help prepare you in a crisis and I’m wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
This is a great time to post something like this. Thank you. I would keep these in my waterproof backpack, which I will work on stocking in the morning.
I live in the Midwest where we have tornadoes. Fortunately I’ve never been in an evacuation situation & that is a a rare situation here. However three of my immediate family members who all live in different cities within a 1 hour circumference drive of my home have had their properties destroyed by a tornado. That tells me I definitely need to have my emergency kit fully packed, and ready to grab at a moments notice. I have a number of items from previous vacation hikes to the Rockies & then also from International travels (of course in several closets & a spare dresser). But it’s the all the little details that really will make all the difference! Thanks for this video!! It’s definitely made me think about being better prepared for an emergency at a moments notice.
Lol! That was the noisiest cot I have ever laid on! Seriously I don’t think anybody would get any sleep if I have that around. It’s new so maybe it just needs to get some wearing but it was also pretty hard to put together. But I bought it because it was so small if I had to throw in the back of my car I could.
Hi Nina! I am so glad you were taking this serious and getting yourself prepared! Start small put in what you can now and then every time you can find something on sale or for your home and replace it do it. Like I said in the video a little bit of something is better than a whole Lotta nothing! Good luck in the giveaway!
Great video!!! I am a Paramedic for a 911 service (28yrs now). I have been through multiple storms and hurricanes, you know we get activated and have to stay at work for the duration. Yes, I was at work for 3.5 weeks during Katrina, i work in New Orleans. We pack what we call our hurricane box, where we have to be self-sufficient for at least 3 weeks, now that it's hurricane season, I was just thinking of how and what I needed to be more prepared, this video was right on time, I have quite a few of the items you have, but now I have more to add, I want to personally thank you for the information!!!!
First I want to say thank you for being a paramedic and offering your service to help people. Especially during these disasters when you have to be away and available for a long period of time. I’m so glad you found this video useful and you’re going to get some great hacks from it! And I’m also very happy that you’re updating that hurricane box so that you can be comfortable and secure for at least three weeks maybe even longer! Last year during the Caldor fire our family was evacuated for six weeks and we were blessed because we had a home to go back to that many people did not have a home to go back to and all they had what was in their go bag if they even had one.
Awesome video " Mary Poppins/Inspector Gadget" I need that Side by Side for my Airstream. After this last hurricane we're a little more prepared. We have the survival kit in the truck and we've added dog tags on our person when hiking or on the Gold Wing. Amazing info !
Hi Wanda!! So glad you were able to get out of the way of Ian! That dog tag thing you mention brings back so many memories of my son being in the military. When he was going through officer candidate school he had dog tags tucked into his boots. I asked him why they were in there and not around his neck. He told me just in case. I said just in case what? He said in case I step on an IED and that’s all that’s left of me. As a mom that just made my heart sink. But I do know why they do it. Thanks for that feedback Wanda it’s great information! Good luck in the giveaway! SONSHINE!
Hey there Angela! I am so glad that you’re finding these videos informative and they have inspired you to start a go bag of your own! Remember just put a few things in now that you really need and you can always check things out and put things back in but just have something ready it’s better than nothing and I’m wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I to live in the Bay Area too and you never know when you need to get out of dodge. I use travel items in my every day carrier so I were to win, I’d be using these items eveyday, and anything RFID is a plus!
Hey there Bay Area person! Yeah, We know how bad traffic is here and it would probably take us a while to get the hell out of Dodge! I probably go through all of my food just sitting in traffic! Thanks for watching and commenting and good luck in the giveaway!
What a fantastic and well needed video. We live in Tampa Bay where Ian was supposed to go. You never think it can happen to you and I thought I was prepared. After seeing your video I realized I wasn't. Thank you so much for helping us to prepare and be ready if, God forbid, another hurricane comes our way. God bless all the people in Fort Myers and surrounding areas that Ian did hit. God bless you for preparing us for whatever may happen to any areas that have natural disasters. Thank you so much.
Hi Dona, I’m so glad it seems you were spared from hurricane Ian. We have friends who live on Sanibel Island and I think everything was just destroyed. I’m so glad you are reviewing your go bag and upgrading for what you think you’ll need to be able to feel safe and comfortable outside of your home. There are a lot of things on my Amazon storefront that might come in handy to help you update your bag there are several pages on that storefront so it might be worth taking a look. Wishing you the best and I know you live in hurricane alley so stay safe!
Living in Florida we just had a hurricane and had to evacuate. I totally didn't know what I was doing with the packing. If I won I would definitely feel more prepared and it would help put my mind more at ease the next time we evacuate. Thanks so much for making this video. I'm really grateful!
I’m sorry to hear you had to evacuate but I am happy to hear that you are OK. I hope your home was not terribly damaged and that you have something to go home to to call home again. It’s disasters like that that make us finally realize we do need to have certain things prepared as an insurance policy. I’m so glad you’re finally putting that go back together because a living in Florida you are and hurricane and flooding territory and you need to be prepared!
@@TheoryofSimplethank you. Thankfully all was well when we returned. We even had electricity! I look forward to putting my bag together. Could you do a video on what lightweight food we can have ready for a week or more? Thank you.
Firstly, would love to get insight on your first aid kit in a future video. Loved all this foresight in your emergency bag, discovered useful things I'm lacking. The side by side giveaway is very useful, I especially like the waterproof, RFID travel pouch to have on the go travel for the extra protection against water & thieves, it goes way above just a place to stash cash & personal documents with the added protection. Always good to have a dry bag for the extra goodies you can't live without that you don't want water to get into. These items you are giving away are all much needed items for a traveler or in an emergency so you have extra peace of mind you are outfitted with essentials. Thank you for thinking about your viewers safety & protection, how thoughtful of you. Very good content in your videos that I always enjoy learning from you. When my son moved out of state, I created a couple of packs for emergencies for him & us so we are all prepared. I now see a few things were missed so I will be on the hunt to get those items. Thanks again for sharing!🤗
Thank you so much! I’ll be making the first aid video soon! I just wanna be clear that the RF ID document pouch from Side by Side it’s a separate items in the waterproof document holder that I put the side-by-side bag in. You can find the waterproof holder on my Amazon storefront. Thanks so much for the feedback and good luck with the giveaway!

I need to create a to-go bag along with a hiking kit since I often travel on backroads and , in the dark. The side by side though I think I would keep with my “regular“ travel gear since it has the rfid protection.
Hi Karen! Yeah you really should have extra stuff if you’re going to be on back roads especially some stuff in your car. I’m gonna get another side-by-side document so that I can keep one in my go bag and have another one that I just take with me when I travel. Then I don’t have to worry about switching documents in an out or forgetting something. Thanks so much for watching and commenting and good luck in the giveaway!
You are a wealth of info. I am trying to put together some sort of emergency bag for me and my husband. My heart goes out to all the thousands if not millions of people all over this nation who have gone thru hell due to disasters. I just feel that I should have some sort of go to bag if anything should happen that I need to evacuate.
Hi Corrie! Thank you so much and I’m so glad you are getting an emergency go bag ready. My mom and dad were evacuated from their home due to forest fire last year for six weeks. We were blessed because I was able to bring them to my house and they were safe with me but they were many who evacuated their homes with nothing because the fire happened so quickly and unfortunately they came back to nothing. There’s a video on my channel that shows what the area look like when we went back. We were just so fortunate that our home was untouched by the fire.
Okay, I'll admit it, Eunice. I'm addicted to your channel. I just saw this video from last year, and it's absolutely AMAZING. It may be scary to think about needing a Bug Out Bag, but this is one scenario in which I'd rather be prepared than face last-minute panic. Several recent unplanned trips have made me realize how convenient it would be to assemble the basics of my Travel Go Bag, and I've almost got that one complete. Your awesome video will help me fill in the gaps between the two completely different types of bags I need: the emergency Bug Out Bag and the more leisurely Travel Go Bag. I've traveled extensively, here in the USA and overseas. Why didn't I think of doing this years ago? LOL! Mega thanks, Janet
Hi Janet! I’m so glad you found this video and that you’re getting prepared because none of us ever know when an emergency is going to happen. It happened to my family a few times, and we have learned lessons the hard way. I’m hoping that everyone can just be prepared even if it’s just a little bit.! Thank you so much for letting me know and I’m so happy you’re getting that bag together💕😊🙏
It wasn't until I found out what a derecho was in 2021 that I fully understood how important it would be to have a kit ready to make displacement and lack of electricity bearable. This kit would definitey help in preparing for any kind of situation with confidence.
I have never been in a derecho! It seems terrifying to me! Are so many ways where something to just put us completely out of our comfort zone put us in a panic. So sorry that you had to go through that! But I’m very happy that you’re getting a kit together for yourself to just have some things that can make you feel some safety and some comfort. Good luck in the giveaway!
Hi Gail, thank you so much for your feedback! I would just make sure that if it’s in your car it’s covered up and not looking like a backpack if somebody wants to steal. Unfortunately that has happened to my brother two times in the last year! I do keep some things in my car but they are hidden and not necessarily one big pack. It just doesn’t look like a pack sitting in the car that might have something valuable in it.
Yes! I think sometime as women we Think all we need is our handbag but really we need so much more and also to feel empowered to help ourselves and others! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Great ideas, one and all. I already have a bug out bag but would use these items to start one of the types of bags you suggested. Thanks for all you do. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
I absolutely love your attention to detail with. your packs, Eunice! There is nothing that I would call over the top, as it all has at least one use. If I won, that kit would give me the peace of mind that everything I need to keep safe is close by and that would allow me to spend more time helping others. Worrying about and chasing after your important items is no fun in that situation!
Hi Jennifer! I’m so happy you are getting some great ideas for my videos and appreciate my organization! I always think about how long it takes me to pack just to go on a trip and I’m not in a panic situation. Especially in this case you wanna have the best of what you will need to keep you safe and comfortable so it’s always better to have it so it’s ready to go and then you can pack another bag if you need more stuff. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
@@TheoryofSimple I agree completely! You present your info in a way that doesn't spark fear and panic, just common sense to be ready BEFORE you need to be ready. Thank you!
In one I would keep emergency things in the other my treasures because that's what we miss the most. Thank you for all your help in making everything just that bit easier. 🙏 good luck every one, such a great prise on offer!
Yes, great idea! When our family was evacuated two years ago due to a forest fire, we were able to get back into our house and get some original artwork and loaded in our cars the first round in. When we tried to go back to get more, we were not able to get to our house but at least we were able to get some things out. In the end, we were lucky that our house did not burn down that many left their house with a backpack and that’s all that they had left of their lives.🙏
I need something light weight like this since my husband is in a wheelchair and I would need to push him. His backpack hangs on the back of his wheelchair. We do have ready packed go-bags but they aren't as light and efficient as this one is. Thanks for the videos you have been posting. They are very practical.
Ever since I discovered this channel, I eagerly await the new videos. I’ve been setting 2023 goals and want to go solo camping. I can think of numerous uses for the side by side travel kit. I already keep an emergency backpack in my car, so I would add the Side by Side kit to that to stash an extra credit card, money , and prescriptions. One of the items I keep in my car backpack is an emergency battlefield grade tourniquet. Actually I have a couple of these in the car. I was the first citizen responder to a fatal car accident several years ago. Although a tourniquet would not have made a difference that day since the COD was blunt trauma. I added them to my emergency kit. I also keep a fire extinguisher in my vehicle. Emergency triangles are important, too. The accident was on the Interstate, and sent truck drivers down the road with theirs to get traffic to move over to keep us safe and to clear a path for EMS. I also keep a sticker on my back window indicating I have an extinguisher and first aid kit.
Hi Crystal, solo camping is great! I have a video on my solo camping. Not sure if you watched it yet. The Side by Side gear is great! Good luck with the giveaway!
I belong to a service organization and one of the committees I work with is the Emergency Response Team . I would share the knowledge of what comes in this bag to develop a pack to be adapted to the area in which I live. .
Excellent, Adrienne! What an amazing service organization! Empowering others! Thank you so much for doing that! I am off thought that I should put these skills to good use so I’ll have to find a service organization that I can help as well! Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I'm very much into preparing for emergencies. Every thing you showed us would be valuable, in any situation. I need to make one for my husband. What a great Christmas gift! ❤
Wow you are amazing! So important for you to have a go bag in each house and some thing in your car as well. Wish you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I am starting to realize that a "go bag" is soo important - having lived through a couple of tornadoes in Muskoka Canada and Ottawa Canada...... It is a scary time. I would use these side by side products to get a start on my go bag. Thank you for the information you provide. I am always amazed with the ideas for packing much in tiny packages!
I used to have a kit living in California then I stopped. If I win this it would be my start to get my go pack back together. Thank you for all of your tips.
Hi Carla, I think everybody in California has a pack because of earthquakes but as you can see in the news there are many times when people are evacuated and they’re not earthquakes they usually floods and hurricanes or in our case last year it was a forest fire. I’m so happy you were going to get to go back together just to be prepared for a crisis and I’m wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Impressed with your bag! I've been prepping since '05 & of all the preppers I've been following, you're my new fave! Living in FL's & a mother of 5 (all grown up), I'm happy to see another mother who's so detailed with prepping as you are....because I am as well. Prepping is always a work-in progress especially during our hurricane season. I love doing it & made sure that my family are ready at all times. Thanks for sharing....hi from Orlando, FL.
Hi there and thank you so much for that! I truly appreciate your feedback and completely agree that we don’t see enough women on here prepping for an emergency or disaster! We rely on men to do it all the time and the thing is is most of the time women if they are stay at home moms are the ones at home and the ones you were going to be pulling everybody together when a disaster happens! I also think it’s important to be prepared in your car for when you’re not at home and that happened to me once and that was the only lesson I needed to be prepared in my car as well! I’m so glad that you are prepared, especially living in Florida and hurricane season and flooding! 🙏💕😊
Thanks for this great, super-helpful video! I am definitely going to check out your storefront as well. You really covered all the basics! Everyone's go-kit will be different, but you reminded me of the "categories" I would want in an emergency situation: things I would need to feel safe, warm, comfortable (well-rested, fed, hydrated), clean, healthy, and entertained! In my emergency documents folder, I would also include a list of next-of-kin phone numbers and addresses, insurance/bank/doctors phone numbers, prescriptions on paper (medications & eyeglasses), and photos (especially of anyone traveling with me and pets).
Hi Cris! Thank you so much! Wow that is a lot of stuff to go through! I hope you are getting a go bag together now so that you’re prepared for the next crisis situation!
Fantastic! I have made a get home bag and it is time to replenish and update it for sure, as it is the awful 5 year anniversary of the fire that took my home in Sonoma county where I lost everything I owned but my car and a few clothes as I was visiting out of town when the fire happened. It was devastating and a life changing event as along with many I am still trying to catch up. Anyway we learn from tragedy. My brother and family 2 years later also lost his beautiful home in the other huge Sonoma county fire so, it is something close to my heart this being prepared subject. If I was lucky to be chosen I would use the winnings to update my prep bag. Good luck to everyone who enters. And thank you Eunice for the tips and the opportunity to enter and chance to win!
Julie-joy, i’m so sorry to hear about your loss in the Sonoma fire and for your brothers loss as well. It’s unimaginable. And many of us think we don’t live in a fire area but it doesn’t take much especially with home so close to each other to just burn down a whole neighborhood. That’s why when you’re not home it’s good to have some documents like your passport with you so that if something happens to your home while you’re not there you have those documents at least to prove who you are and save them from the fire. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
@@TheoryofSimple I appreciate your thoughts and even now I go thru plans on how to make sure transitions from disasters can go smother if need be but primarily not to be caught in them is the hope. Yes being in densely populated areas are problematic at times in a disaster situation like a fire. Our homes were on quite a bit of acreage one being on a 2 acer plot close to town and the onther on a 30 acer plot on a ridge top so no homes near by and yes fire was never something we ever thought would be a concern until it was... so yes since then a go bag alway s near by to grab at a moments notice and the contents always being rethought of carefully and updated ... Thank you for spreading the tios to more people that don't think of this important idea especially now as the world changes.
I am so glad you’re putting together a go bag! Like I said, in the video, we had to evacuate my parents a couple of times. Last year they were evacuated for six weeks.! so it’s always good to be prepared even though you may not need that bag but you’re gonna be really happy you have it if you do need it! Enjoy your new life in the foothills!🙏❤️😊
I live with my 75 yo mother and am always worried about what we would take if, for whatever reason, we needed to evacuate. Loved how you prefaced this video with how customized your bag is to you. I am excited and could really use the starter kit to put custom packs together for the both of us. 😃
Hi Lorena! So happy you are putting a bag together for each of you and customizing it for what works for you both! There are some amazing things on my Amazon store front but I also have bought many things from the dollar store to put my pack together. I don’t think you need to spend a lot of money and you just need a few things to get you by to a safe place plus this is a bag you’re probably gonna keep packed all the time so you don’t want a bunch of real expensive stuff in it that’s just gonna sit there. Pick and choose where you spend your money and wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I've been gathering preps for pouches and camping, but I need to start an emergency grab and go bag. These would be a good start. Your videos are so thorough, you leave no stone unturned. Thanks.
Hi Susan, thank you so much! So glad you were getting all your little couches together! I said the video anything is better than nothing. We don’t want to be trying to think about things when you’re in a panic! Thanks for watching and commenting and best of luck in the giveaway!
Thank you for covering this very important topic! I had a rude awakening during hurricane Katrina. Living 300 miles inland we thought sure, we can weather whatever comes. Power outages, gas shortages, down trees just to name a few!! We were lucky the four large pine trees that fell around our house fell away for our house. Some or our neighbors were not so lucky. I would love to use the side by side in my emergency pack!
Thank you so much for your comment! I think a lot of people think that they’re not gonna be in harms way because they don’t live near a coast with hurricanes and flooding or earthquake areas. The very first earthquake I ever felt in my life was when I lived in Ohio. So happy you want to get some extra things for your go bag and wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Making a bug out kit of various versions/sizes of survival & first aid kits is so easy to do with items you already have around the house. . Thank you so much for bringing attention to self preparedness.
Yes! Always start with what you have on hand and then modify your bag occasionally to make sure that you have what you need to make you safe and comfortable. You don’t need anything expensive you just need to think about what you actually need. Old hiking clothes, old water bottles, save your prescription medication bottles to hold vitamins and other medication‘s. Just be resourceful. 😀
This bag will be everywhere. Great for camping and traveling. Can’t wait to receive it. This video was so helpful. . When my husband and 4 kids lived in California we each had our bug out bags. You have a lot more in your bag. Thank you
Thank you, Barbara! There’s been so much going on across the country with the weather and the earthquakes that I’m so glad you are being prepared in case you have to leave your home!
Thank you for showing this. It really got me thinking about what my family would need in such a situation and how to be a bit more prepared and maybe even somewhat comfortable. We lost electricity for 5 days in the middle of an ice storm and certainly could have used many of these items to stay warm and sane.
Hi Rico, so glad you found my channel! it’s taken us a couple of painful turns to learn this as well! I’ll put a mountain house we have lost power for as many as 10 days. And when you’re on well water it makes it very difficult to get clean water when your pump won’t work without electricity! We’ve since gotten a generator but we’ve also been evacuated due to forest fires for six weeks and that teaches a lot of lessons! I’m certainly happy that you are getting a go bag together for your family. Not sure how old your children are but I would recommend that everybody have a go bag of their own for their own clothing and some personal items that would keep them safe and comfortable. Thank you so much for watching and commenting and I look forward to your feedback on my other videos!
I can't believe all that was only 17 pounds! Wow! I've gained so much insight into a Go Bag which I want to incorporate by using these things for my upcoming trip to Southeast Asia, While I realize this is not evacuation, the principals of need and low weight remain the same. thanks for the video!
Hi compass rose! If you’re going to Southeast Asia make sure you get that go girl if you’re female. Not every place has bathrooms for you to use and sometimes you don’t want to use the bathrooms there. Whenever I go to Southeast Asia I always have more in my bag that I think I’ll need because you just never know when you’re gonna be flooding and you’re gonna get stuck somewhere! Good luck on your trip to Southeast Asia and in the giveaway!
Great job with this video. I jotted notes and will watch it a few more times! I live in near the Sierra Nevada range. Wildfire is a constant fear (with evacuation not uncommon). I really love the Side by Side waterproof bag to carry personal documents because shelters may not be secure and it is impractical to carry a loaded backpack everywhere. I’d use that piece immediately when traveling (so it get get a lot of use) or fleeing to a shelter during disaster. This kit to practice the preparedness that brings peace of mind.
Hi Zani, I am so glad you were getting some great hacks for my videos! That’s where we were evacuated last year during the Caldor fire. Just wanna make sure I’m clear that the Side by Side document bag is not waterproof. I keep that side-by-side bag in a waterproof pouch which you will find on my Amazon store front. Make sure you go there and check that out if you want something that’s going to keep your documents waterproof. Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Yay! Thanks for the prompt reply. I have several things from your storefront in my basket. I’m headed there now to add the waterproof bag. I’ll grab the document bag too. It’s a winning combination.
Thank you so much, Mary! so glad you’re getting some things together for your go bag and for your family to get their go bags together as well! Happy shopping!😀
In the last year areas of my state (KY)have been hit with devastating tornadoes and flooding. You never know what Mother Nature has in store for us. Best to be prepared! I have watched countless videos on this topic- none as comprehensive as yours. Thank you. I’m in the process of completing a bug out bag - upgrading the contents as I can within my budget. Your Amazon lists have helped me create my wish list.
Great video, have never thought of doing this as I live in a city And think anything can happen. But . . . You just never know. So many things to think about. Winning those items would be a great start to my kit.
OMGosh! I've never seen anyone with more useful gadgets than me! I've always been prepared for anything. A lot of your items, I have the exact same things! Never have I seen that! 40 years ago my kids diaper bags, they could stay for a month. Now sometimes we fly, sometimes we camp, sometimes car trips. So, it's hard to pack, since I go have to go thru everything to eliminate items for each specific trip. I have an amazon list to get some of the items you've shown. Thank you for your insight!
Hey Wanda! Looks like we are soul sisters of the prepared kind! I swear I carried a diaper bag around for years even if my kids were older just because I was always wanted to be prepared for stuff! I keep a whole dresser full of travel gadgets and I have to switch them out all the time. Depending on where I go how long I’m staying where I’m staying and if they’ll be trips in between it all determines what I pack. I guess that’s all part of travelers!
I have been thru a few hurricanes, tornadoes and snow storms. I'm planning to go to FL in the next 2 weeks to help with the folks in the SW area of the state that got hit hard by Ian. This kit etal would help tremendously with that! Thank you!
I’ve been preparing go bags for my family and the side by side would help me to stay a bit more organized than the plastic zip bags I’ve been using. I had not thought about RFID protection in my go bag but I am now thanks to this video. I appreciate all of the enlightenment you share.
Hi Shonta! That is great that you are taking the initiative and preparing go bags for your family! Yes these days unfortunately we have to be aware of the digital thieves! I had my identity stolen a few years ago and it really was a pain in the butt to get it straightened out! Good luck in the giveaway!
I am a mass shooting survivor from the 2017 Ft Lauderdale Airport. My husband had a bullet graze his head and my backpack that I had over my head was shot. I was covered in blood. No hotels to be had. People were sleeping in the lobby floors of hotels. I live in Ohio where we have tornados and flooding from local rivers. A bag like this is what is needed and like you said everyone should have. Thank you and bless you for sharing. I would like to see your first aid kit video.
What an incredible story!! Literally brought tears to my eyes! Life is so precarious. It could be taken from us in an instant but if we’re prepared it might be something that keeps us spared from something horrible. I grew up in Ohio with the tornadoes! Still have memories of looking up in the sky to see the funnel clouds forming. Thank you so much for commenting on this and letting us now I’m having a bag can help save your life in more ways we could ever imagine! Saying a prayer for you guys and just being thankful that you made it through such a tremendously horrible event!
@@TheoryofSimple My backpack was seized as evidence but they have me back everything that I had packed inside it in a brown paper bag. The FBI agent complimented me on my packing skills.
Another fantastic video. Thank you so much Eunice for taking the time to share all of these great items with your viewers. I live in Miami, FL and have gone through several hurricanes. With each hurricane I find items I wish I would have had to make it through the days long power outages. The items in this giveaway will find a home in my hurricane preparedness kit for the next storm. So many items in your video are new to me. For example, the pyro paste. We’ve always kept Vaseline impregnated cotton balls and a disposable lighter. The pyro paste is a previously unknown item to me, thanks for the info. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Janet, so glad you enjoy this video and are getting some great Content out of it to prep your go back better! I have used Vaseline with a cotton ball and it’s fine and it’s a cheap way to do it but it doesn’t light well if it gets wet. Pyro putty will light in any condition wet, dry or freezing And especially windy conditions. You can purchase favorite putty from my Amazon store front and that will support my channel! Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Oh my my!💖! You are my hero for sure❤ Million thanks for your videos; I’ll be updating my emergency packs now that you have shared so many “ah ha” things I was not aware of and in mini mini sizes. You are my Ms “Doraemon” that has a magic pocket that it can pull out any and all things!! Would be lovely to receive those give always to add to many items I’m still missing in my emergency packs👍😘
My late Japanese mummy had always a couple emergency packs, however her bags got heavier and heavier as time went by…. I’m so lucky to live in the IT era to be access to ideas and suggestions so much easier. Cannot believe the total weight 17lbs? for all that necessities/goodies! Again thank you 🙏XXXX
@@scetsuko4283 I learned a lot of my hacks from my mother who is Japanese. I think growing up during World War II and having to be shuffled around a lot affected how she thought about things and she taught that to me. Yeah I was kind of surprised at the way to that bag after I had it packed. It weighs the same amount as my laptop bag when I have it packed. And there’s not as much stuff in that laptop bag! Which just shows you how heavy these computers and things are!
You do read all comments! 🙏 I’m 5’2”, 103lbs so the weight of each pack matters a lot. Watching your old videos as I’m still new to your channel; Sharing with my daughter and friends.
@@scetsuko4283 I try to read and answer every comment and for now it’s still manageable! You are tiny so you’re going to have to adjust your backpack accordingly. Thank you so much for sharing my videos! Truly appreciate your follow and loyalty to this channel!😀
What a great, informative video. As you said, we never know when a disaster of any kind will strike and it helps to be prepared. I think the kit would also come in handy on car trips. You always amaze me as to all the items you are able to pack in your “magic” bags.
Thank you so much, Dorothy! When we evacuated from the fire last year we had no idea that that’s what would happen & your life can change so quickly. Good to remember that whatever you have that backpack maybe all that you have left of your life after a disaster to pack carefully! Best of luck to you in the giveaway!
Oh myyyyyy godhhhhhhhhh...I kept thinking 20 times... there cannot be one more single thing in that backpack.... and then you unzipped the "main" section!!!!!!! Phenomenal forethought, planning, acquiring, packing!!!! I have started a bag.... slow but sure : )
😂🤣 that’s why people call me Mary Poppins🤣😂 I’m so glad you’re getting a bag started as a go bag! Better, a slow start the new start between😊🙏❤️ I have one in my house and one in my car just in case I’m not home when something happens❤️🙏😊 date
@Theory of Simple I can see why people call you marry Poppins: )) I thought I had nearly half the items for a get home bag... and emergency preparedness items for my home, and started a couple bags for my car. I have helped Amazon stay in business over the last several months : ) I see I am still woefully underprepared..... but definitely moving well in the right direction. I just subscribed... will watch more of your videos later. Thank you again... stay well and safe.
Thank you so much and you are very welcome! So happy that you have go bags on the ready! I hope you are able to get some great new gadgets that help keep you a little more prepared during a crisis situation! Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
Great video! Thank you for sharing!! The side by side kit would be a great addition to my emergency bag. We live within 10 miles of nuclear power plant so we have had a to go bag packed for years.
Hi Nancy! Wow!! I know a lot of people don’t think something happened with a nuclear power plant but when things do the wrong there you need to get the hell out of Dodge! I’m so happy that you have a go bag ready hopefully some extra things in your car too! Good luck in the giveaway!
Brilliant! Sharing your awesome helpfullness with friends…each will say I have finally met my match - down to the origami stove!! I keep my car ready for camping and earthquakes! Keep inspiring!!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting and especially sharing my video! sounds like you and I are cut from the same cloth and love being prepared and organized! Wishing you the best of luck in your giveaway!
Thank you for this video. Very informative and useful. I've always wanted to start one but didn't know where to start. Now I have an idea where to start. =)
Aimee, I am so glad you watch the video and early to get started with some thing! Better to put this together now when you have a coal mine and are not in analysis paralysis during a crisis situation.
Wow, how current this is for us in Florida. I have an emergency backpack, but your suggestions about Yoga mat is great idea. Plus many of your items I had not thought of including dry bags and waterproof your important documents. I am going to the Bank safety box to retrieve my passport and put it with some extra cash. Thanks for all you do.
Hi Virginia! Hope you weathered hurricane Ian ok. I am so happy that you got some great ideas from this video to help prepare your go bag better! Better to have that passport on you and that way you have an extra ID and you’re not going to have to pay for a new passport which is now like $500! Yeah I keep a couple hundred dollars in that RF ID bag and that will at least allow me to buy a few essentials.
Thanks for this video with such good ideas. Living in the north Georgia mountains I carry a go bag with me in case of bad weather especially during the winter. If I get stuck at work or in my car I'll be prepared. You've given me new product ideas to add to my bag.
Hi Lorie! So happy that you have a good bio prepared for those times when things can go completely wrong. So glad you got some great ideas for things to add to your go bag. I’m always refining mine either finding something new or finding out there’s something I don’t really need for this broken so it’s good to go through it every so often. Thank you so much for commenting and good luck in the giveaway!
What an amazing amount of STUFF you can compress - I live in No. Cal. Too and always keep in mind that earthquakes don’t show up on the weather maps! Thanks for offering us a chance to win that nifty prep kit from Side By Side! Thank you for everything!
Hi Dawn! and not to mention earthquakes don’t just happen in California! The very first earthquake I ever felt was when I was in high school living in Ohio. And one of the largest earthquakes in United States happened to the Mississippi valley area that sent the Mississippi river flowing backwards! Thank you so much for watching and commenting and wishing you the best of luck in your giveaway!
Great video with excellent information. I THOUGHT I was prepared but I see there are things I need to add. I need that side by side kit to top things off! Thanks!
Hey there Shasta go! Not sure if you live near Mount Shasta but it’s beautiful area up there! Of course if you’re living in the mountains your go bag should have a few other extra things in them! But I am happy you have a go bag and I’m wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
My mum and I made individual Go bags after a harrowing experience where our house got submerged in flood waters some years ago. I will be adjusting the items in my pack to include pouches like the one in your giveaway so I can put essential toiletries. Thank you yet again for sharing these tips!
Really appreciated all of your practical info and challenge to be prepared. Your side by side bags would be a great addition and I would love to win them! Keep the great videos coming.
Hi Chris, especially if you live in a hurricane area you know you’re probably a time when you’re going to get evacuated. So important to have that go bag! So happy you got some great tips of the video and please let me know that you are putting a go bag together!

I love the flash drive idea! am so happy that your preparation helped your son and now he will teach his kids! Bravo! 🙌 💕 thank you for sharing!😊
That's a great tip! With my list of phone numbers, I also include insurance companies, banks/credit card, and doctors' phone numbers.
A suggestion for the notebook, Rite in the Rain notebooks: All-Weather Writing Paper that sheds water, allowing you to write anywhere, in any weather

A trip to Africa sounds amazing! Not sure which country you’re going to but always best to be prepared for anything! Good luck with the giveaway!
Hurricane alley! So happy you are getting prepared! Good luck with the giveaway!
@@TheoryofSimple Nitrile is the safest option for sure.
In this day and age - this info and these products are so very important- thank you -
Hi Eric, thank you so much and yes you are absolutely right it just seems like there are more of these disasters happening and evacuation is happening.
I need to start my bag. Some great ideas.
Yes! So happy that you are starting a go bag!
This is a great time to post something like this. Thank you.
I would keep these in my waterproof backpack, which I will work on stocking in the morning.
Thank you Cleo and I wish you the best in the giveaway!
I live in earthquake county. I need that kit! Love your program ❤
So happy you ste putting a go bag together especially living in earthquake country! Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I love the real life sleeping situation....it would be good to practice that so you aren't shocked with the noise! This is my kind of video!
Lol! That was the noisiest cot I have ever laid on! Seriously I don’t think anybody would get any sleep if I have that around. It’s new so maybe it just needs to get some wearing but it was also pretty hard to put together. But I bought it because it was so small if I had to throw in the back of my car I could.
Thanks for the great information. Boy, I’m so not prepared! This is inspiring me to get serious.
SONSHINE!
@@TheoryofSimple I have all of Paul's dog tags. Airborne for 8 years. SONshine !
If I had that kit, I would add it to my emergency backpack, which I started creating because of THIS channel!
And we use the kit to start building my evacuation code. It’s some thing that I should have done years ago
Better late than never, Alis! I’m happy you were starting some thing and wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!

@@TheoryofSimple My apologies if I jumbled up the giveaway. I'll rewatch the video so I understand. Thanks for clarifying. 👍
I would keep this in my camper van ready to leave to a safer place on a moment’s notice. Love your channel and all your helpful info.
Awesome tips! As someone in a coastal area, would love that kit to start prepping for anything disaster related on the horizon.
Add to my go bag … wonderful security!
Thanks Lyn! Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Great video! I would use the items in a go bag.
Thank you so much, Kimberly! Good luck in the giveaway!
So timely! The packs will help start me to being more prepared. You’re inspiring other women to take control of their surroundings :) thanks!!

Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
@@TheoryofSimple I agree completely! You present your info in a way that doesn't spark fear and panic, just common sense to be ready BEFORE you need to be ready.

Yes! Great gift because not many people will take the time or expense to make one! I think that is wonderful 😊❤️🙏
I travel 100+ miles 1 way each week to help my parents, I would keep this kit in my truck with my get home bag. Thanks for your videos
Wow you are amazing! So important for you to have a go bag in each house and some thing in your car as well. Wish you the best of luck in the giveaway!
Outstanding safety information in this video! Much appreciated!
Thank you so much, Crystal!
So happy you’re starting a go bag and I wish you the best of luck at the giveaway!
I need to make one of these... Thanks for sharing great ideas... :) :) :)
So happy to share his ideas with you and he also very happy that you are putting something together to help you through a crisis situation. 😀
What a awesome video. I am amazed. Been through earthquakes, building fire, and volcano ash. Backpack would have been a life-saver.
Thank you for spreading the tios to more people that don't think of this important idea especially now as the world changes.
the side by side kit will definitely be a great starting point to creating my GO Bag!
We recently moved to the foothills where fires are common and just starting to put together a go bag. This would be very helpful. Great video. Thanks

Thank you for this video-was looking forward to it after seeing your post on instagram!
Thank you, Debs77777! So glad you were able to get here from Instagram and find this video!😀
@@TheoryofSimple Thanks for the information - I will add it to my Amazon list!
@@zannymarsh8457 yay! Thank you so much for shopping and supporting my channel and I hope you get some great things for your go bag!
By far your best video!!! I now know what to get my entire family for Christmas. Thank you so much.
Happy you are getting a go bag together! Good luck in the giveaway!
Thank you!
Hi Andrea! Thank you for helping others!! Please take care of yourself and best of luck with the giveaway!
@@johnmichelleschlicher3787 that is crazy too! Well this will give you a good excuse to get a nice new backpack to keep is a go bag!
Oh my my!💖! You are my hero for sure❤
Million thanks for your videos; I’ll be updating my emergency packs now that you have shared so many “ah ha” things I was not aware of and in mini mini sizes. You are my Ms “Doraemon” that has a magic pocket that it can pull out any and all things!! Would be lovely to receive those give always to add to many items I’m still missing in my emergency packs👍😘
Thank you so much! i’m gonna start calling this my Mary Poppins go bag! Wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
I appreciate that you have given a list of things that we should consider having with us! So well thought out! Thank you!
Thank you! So happy you got some great information from my video! Thank you so much for watching us on today I truly appreciate your feedback!
@Theory of Simple I can see why people call you marry Poppins: ))
I thought I had nearly half the items for a get home bag... and emergency preparedness items for my home, and started a couple bags for my car. I have helped Amazon stay in business over the last several months : ) I see I am still woefully underprepared..... but definitely moving well in the right direction.
I just subscribed... will watch more of your videos later.
Thank you again... stay well and safe.
@@sheilagaleano365 thank you! 😊 enjoy building your go bags! 🙏❤️
Super video. I live in Africa and always have go bags for the family, but never as comprehensive as yours. Thanks for the ideas!
Amazing video!!! I'm re-watching it right now. So many great common sense ideas. Thank you.
Thank you so much and I’m so glad you were getting some great hacks to get your go bag together from the video!
@@TheoryofSimple Yes I'm starting this weekend. Thanks!!
love your videos! I would put it in the emergency backpack I've been putting together for my car! Your video was perfect timing for this project.
Thank you so much, Lynette! I’m looking forward to bringing you more videos and wishing you the best of luck in the giveaway!
GOOD GRIEF YOU ARE PREPARED!! I need everything in this video!!
Lol! That is why they call me Mary Poppins! 🤣😂❤️
Thanks for all the great tips. We live in a Hurricane area.
Hi Chris, especially if you live in a hurricane area you know you’re probably a time when you’re going to get evacuated. So important to have that go bag! So happy you got some great tips of the video and please let me know that you are putting a go bag together!
