    Wearing Nick Lidstroms #4 for Team Sweden, gotta love it and he had a great Juniors.....
    Can't wait to see this kid in the Winged Wheel !!!
    I live in Grand Rapids and I was hoping he would grow and develop for a year in GR so I could watch him play every night, but this kid won't be playing in Grand Rapids for very long ....
    Sandin-Pellikka is the real deal and can't wait to see him State-Side!!!

    He has the talent to make the immediate jump to the NHL but we should see him permanently in GR next season at the very least. My guess is he'll do what Kasper did this year next season.

      Asp is sooo far away from Kasper talent that I would not expect to see ASP burried in GR for 2 years. He may be in nhl next year

      @@WeAreLight05 I meant the Kasper comparison as if ASP does go to GR it won't be for very long because he's already on a very high professional level. Also you have to take into account any off season acquisitions on defense and how that shifts development placement throughout our prospects and where they all play next year.

    I think he's most likely just going to get the proverbial 'cup of coffee, ' and play a game or two. But it is an outside possibility that he blows the doors off the building and they *can't* send him down. Not overly likely, but also not entirely crazy.

    I know a lot of people think DET should be pushing for the playoffs this year but I personally think we should hold off expecting that for another season maybe two.
    Let certain guys develop in a slow and steady way, find the right FA's, let certain contracts come to a close then in 2-3 seasons when the current powerhouses like CAR, TOR, TB, NYR (lol) WSH and such are falling due to age and miles spent in the playoffs DET can rise along side NJ, MTL,OTT, and BUF (lol).
    Let ASP debut next year or the one after that.

    • @RealMcCoy0205
      @RealMcCoy0205 26 дней назад +6

      There is no reason to wait for the playoffs.
      The youngsters on the team now can grow immeasurably from some playoff experience.
      On top of that it is very disrespectful to think this way when you have guys like Larkin who have literally given blood for the team.

    • @thewizardofoz511
      @thewizardofoz511 26 дней назад

      🤔 but have you ever thought about the theory of what if the young prospects are the reason that the Red Wings make the playoffs this season?..
      What was all a part of Steve Yzerman's plan..
      Don't hold back anything that happens organically..

    • @jonathanlong4066
      @jonathanlong4066 26 дней назад

      @@RealMcCoy0205 Tons of reasons to wait for the playoffs. DET will likely be a 1st round out.
      You can gain good experience in the post season sure, you can also shatter a teams confidence and create mental blocks a roster needs to overcome in order to win when they get completely handled. Look at TOR, WPG, LA, and CAL in the playoffs the last few years. Good teams that for some reason just can't get it done and worse fall apart when it matters most. NYR and CAR might also be on that list.
      There is no disrespect to Larkin saying the team needs a little work. Give your head a shake.
      It hurts nothing and no one to wait a bit longer.

    I don’t know, he could probably do it, as long as it’s limited minutes. I think they should take it slow though, he’s young and doesn’t have allot of size. I trust Stevie Y will do what’s right for him. Can’t wait to see whenever he does get there.

    I want him in NA as soon as possible. Give him a game or two with the wings running a 7D 11F like you said, and if he looks like he belongs, keep him up. If not he will be in Grand Rapids for their playoff run and we will re-evaluate in training camp next year

  • @billjohansson88

    There is a small possibility that he can do it. The SHL starts a little earlier than in the NHL. Axel plays for an SHL team that is expected to take another title this year as champion.
    The best thing for ASP is a year in the GR and AHL to learn to cope with travel and longer seasons in a league that covers the continent. Many people think the size of the ice is a factor, no it is not and he shows that through his international games over the years. Speed has a greater impact on his ability to adapt to the new conditions that prevail. A year in the GR also gives him time to put on some more muscle which helps to protect himself but also to counter fights.
    ASP turns 20 in March and it is more likely that he will be in the GR than the NHL as the SHL is an adult league of men, however the NHL is a step to take. There is nothing to indicate that ASP himself chooses to accelerate his development, but on the contrary he has full control over it as he has already stated what he wants. However, there is a possibility that RW will play ASP in the NHL as we lose two defenders for next year's season in Petry & Lagesson. ASP also has a summer to look forward to and do his basic training for the upcoming season. The upcoming Camp will be extra fun to follow to see where he stands in reality...

    Am I the only one who thought he didn't look that good in the bronze medal game? He had that shootout highlight, but outside of that, he looked a bit disengaged during the actual game. His vision and lateral movement are insane, but I bet he will take a while to develop into an NHL regular.

    Could and should but, Danielson and MBN shouls have gad some reps already and their are languishing in the minors, Mo, and Ray were given a chance right out of the gate, why not keep bringing them up, we're not a cup contender so no reason not to.

    • @Septembersmith9633
      @Septembersmith9633 26 дней назад +7

      You're kidding right? MBN and Danielson as good as their projections may be are not even producing well rn when given chances on the top lines of their respected teams and thats not a slight against them. Their playing shelter minute roles on the 3rd line. Neither of them are languishing anything they literally just got drafted and neither of them are nearly as elite as Raymond or Seider. ASP is the exception because he's outscoring forwards and defensemen on a regular basis in his league the other two still need time to mature into bigger roles they're both younger than 21 there's no rush to get them to the NHL

    • @RealMcCoy0205
      @RealMcCoy0205 26 дней назад +2

      Bringing players up too early can crush their confidence and in some cases ruin their careers.
      Not every first rd draft pick is ready to just jump into the NHL.
      Seider spent an entire year in GR before going to Sweden and then joined the Wings.
      Lucas Raymond played multiple years in Swedens top league before coming to Detroit.

      @@RealMcCoy0205ASP(87 games 45 points) have already played more games in SHL than Raymond did(77games 30 points)... And scored more points in those games. Considering ASP is a defence man that is amazing!

  • @swayz0r5000
    @swayz0r5000 26 дней назад +1

    Absolutely not. I'm sure he could make the jump and do okay, but to take him from international ice to NA ice directly as a defensemen is vastly different than a forward. Raymond was able to make more mistakes defensively and it wasn't that big of a deal, but for ASP it'd be a big deal. We also wouldn't run 11/7 just to have ASP play sheltered minutes. Far better off playing top 4 minutes in the SHL or AHL instead of 10 minutes in the NHL. Edvinsson had two years in GR to mature defensively plus had the advantage of his size to help him, ASP will need a bit of time to adjust for the defensive side. No reason to rush this at the risk of screwing up his development, he'll be far worth the wait when he does finally come up. Earliest we would possibly see him IMO is start of next season if they decide to start him right out of training camp, but even that is unlikely. McLellan has the ship going in the right direction, all engines are firing, Gustafsson is looking a lot better on the power play, so we should stick to what we're doing for the short term.
