I have looked and looked for a video to show this - finally found yours - I can't find my new bags so I had to learn how to remove hose in order to empty bag by hand - bags are heavy wt and this is easy to do. Your instructions are excellent. thank you so much.
I am extremely grateful to you. I was just gifted this vacuum and I’m amazed at such a confusing design it is. I literally had to look up every single feature. Thank you for your help, the company should hire you.
Omg thank you for this video. I still have one of these vacuums & I was losing my mind trying to figure out where the heck the bag was!! It was the first time I changed it on my own. You have no idea how much you helped me &, like many others have commented, saved me from major anxiety. For vacuum companies, fyi, PLEASE make it more obvious where the dang vacuum bag is located so we don't feel like we are figuring out Rubik's Cube or something. Thank you!!!
This was SO helpful to me and relieved a ton of frustration I was experiencing between the poorly illustrated instructions on the bag and the IMPOSSIBLE to close hood. It is such a complicated, clumsy machine. For the record, I have a Dyson (also complicated and poorly designed/awkward to use), a Kenmore canister (like this one), and a Shark. By FAR the Shark is the easiest most intuitive to use and does a great job.
Good instructional video! It's important to check/replace the foam exhaust filter shown in the video as well as the filter in the rear of the vacuum. If these become clogged you will experience a huge loss of suction at the hose.
Thank you for your clear, thorough video. My bag light has never worked (second unit - the first one had a much worse problem, so I just kept this one), and I am especially glad you showed taking out the old bag - I haven't been letting mine get that full, probably wasting $ changing them out too soon.
I was thinking, "seriously, a vacuum cleaner bag?" But wow, that's a complicated one! April 1st is coming... I think you should do one on how to turn on a light. "This is a lamp with a 60 watt incandescent bulb which is plugged into a switched outlet controlled by a switch near the door. First, I will enter the room and verify that the light is off..." :-) Your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you for doing what you do!
I didn’t have extra bags so i took out the one that was already in there and cleaned it out by hand with some gloves on and popped that sucker back in i kinda ripped the bag tho so I taped it back💀
Most frustrating vacuum I've ever used. It's probably relatively old so maybe they've improved them. I often struggle to get the hose off and every time I try to change the bag it seems stuck in the slot. It comes out eventually, but I'm not sure how. The new bag slides in easily but removal is a different story.
I bought mine on Amazon, here's a link: www.amazon.com/Genuine-6-Pack-%D0%9A%D0%B5nm%D0%BEr%D0%B5-Canister-Vacuum/dp/B07F5BGZYZ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Sears+Genuine+6-Pack+%D0%9A%D0%B5nm%D0%BEr%D0%B5+Canister+Vacuum+Bags+53292+Type+Q&qid=1633620887&s=home-garden&sr=1-1
that's nice I am thinking about buying a Kirby vacuum and I hear that you only need change the bag 4 times a year and that's if you vacuum every day! truly a good value
I’ve owned mine for about 7 years and with no problems. The bags have filtration in them so air can escape but keep dust and microns in them and not sent out back into your environment. So no change the bag completely! Don’t clean out the old one. These bags are pretty affordable on eBay just make sure they are 110% Kenmore brand. I buy the febreeze bags. 5055 is what you need for the bag code for the vacuum.
Air pressure from the vacuum pushes the sides of the bag to where it fits the inside of the container. You need to be careful no part of the bag is pinched by the lid.
I'm looking at the used bag in your video. It is very obvious it is much too long. Why are the bags you are using too long? I'm sorry... I just understand why you went to the trouble to make this video and you used bags that are obviously too long. They absolutely do not fit "the inside of the container".
Yes, good point. Q (cloth) and C (paper) is the bag "style" that Sears recommends. The issue still remains that the bags are too long to fit in a Kenmore canister vacuum. I discussed this with a salesperson at an independent Sears outlet. He told me he was trained on Kenmore vacuum cleaners in the early 1990s. The C "style" bags were obviously too long and the students asked the instructor why. The instructor responded that he didn't know why the bags were too long. They had always been too long. The students were taught to tuck the excess length under the bag because it looked better that way.Anyway, I like your video (and so did 6,48 other individuals). I think you should explain the "too long bag" issue.
Has anyone tried washing their vacuum paper bag and drying it out for reuse ?I used my vacuum to try to suck out some bed bugs from the bed and now I'm worried the bed bugs are multiplying and laying eggs inside the vacuum bag and may crawl back out again... thats why I'm thinking of dipping the whole bag in hot boiling water to kill them ...
I’m a handywoman in my house and learn how to do and repair most things in my house, on YT. Excellent help on opening that canister. Thanks a lot!
Glad to help!

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.
Thanks again for your excellent demonstration of how to change the vacuum bag.
Glad it was helpful!

This video was VERY helpful, even though my canister vac is a different brand/model. THANK YOU!
Thank you, I was trying for an hour before the video!!

THANK YOU. I could not get my lid to close .... this video is GREAT !!
Thanks!
Thank you for the video and the comments. I'm proud to be part of the vacuum community. See you all at the convention!
Thanks for watching.
Good and simple step by step procedure
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much , almost broke the top, didn't know how to close it!
thanks homie simple and straightforward
Thanks!
This video was helpful in showing how to close the cover instead of breaking off the stops that hold the door open. Thanks.
Good instructional video! It's important to check/replace the foam exhaust filter shown in the video as well as the filter in the rear of the vacuum. If these become clogged you will experience a huge loss of suction at the hose.
Great point!
Great video and from 9 years ago! Thanks so much it was a help!
Great to hear!

ty my mom had a bad day so i didnt want to bother her so this helped
Thanks Aliyah, I'm glad the video helped.
Thank you for the help! What should I do if the light stays on even when I change the bag?
Have you changed the filters?
do you have a video on retracting the cord on the kinmore progressive vacuum. I have the bag and fillsters changed thanks to your videos
Thank you so much
Any time!
Thank you.
Welcome!

Thanks Juana for watching.
ty !
Welcome!
The top will not unstuck or come down. Any other suggestion instead of pushing each leg up
Try pushing the cover towards the back of the vacuum as you push down.
Whare can i buy these bags. ?
I bought mine on Amazon, here's a link: www.amazon.com/Genuine-6-Pack-%D0%9A%D0%B5nm%D0%BEr%D0%B5-Canister-Vacuum/dp/B07F5BGZYZ/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Sears+Genuine+6-Pack+%D0%9A%D0%B5nm%D0%BEr%D0%B5+Canister+Vacuum+Bags+53292+Type+Q&qid=1633620887&s=home-garden&sr=1-1
looks like you can pack those bags like a sack of flour ! how often do you replace the bag based on your household environment ?
+Nathaniel Aranda
At my house it usually takes a couple of months of vacuuming before I need to replace the bag.
that's nice I am thinking about buying a Kirby vacuum and I hear that you only need change the bag 4 times a year and that's if you vacuum every day! truly a good value
+Nathaniel Aranda
I've heard good things about Kirby vacuums. If you buy one let me know how you like it.
I will say they are heavy but if you are strong It is not heavy at all at lest to me ! and the are so nice
Do you use a completely new bag , not clean the used bag from dust?
I’ve owned mine for about 7 years and with no problems. The bags have filtration in them so air can escape but keep dust and microns in them and not sent out back into your environment. So no change the bag completely! Don’t clean out the old one. These bags are pretty affordable on eBay just make sure they are 110% Kenmore brand. how long do the bags last?
In my case I would guess I'm replacing the bag every month or so, but we have a dog so that fills the bag faster.
How do I clean the filter though
Can't clean the filters, you need to replace them.
piease tell me how to ciean back air ciean bag
God this vacuum is a machine lol. If only everything was built as well as this vacuum
Why are the bags you are using too long to fit inside?
Air pressure from the vacuum pushes the sides of the bag to where it fits the inside of the container. You need to be careful no part of the bag is pinched by the lid.

It's the replacement bag (Style Q) Sears recommends for this model of vacuum.
Yes, good point. Q (cloth) and C (paper) is the bag "style" that Sears recommends.
The issue still remains that the bags are too long to fit in a Kenmore canister vacuum.

I think you should explain the "too long bag" issue.
There is no need to remove the hose.
Has anyone tried washing their vacuum paper bag and drying it out for
reuse ?I used my vacuum to try to suck out some bed bugs from the bed
and now I'm worried the bed bugs are multiplying and laying eggs inside
the vacuum bag and may crawl back out again... thats why I'm thinking of
dipping the whole bag in hot boiling water to kill them ...
Do not reuse a dirty bag. paper bags are made for one time use only. I would just install a new one.
If you need a video to change your bag you're in worse shape than you know.
Thank so much.
