    This version of Nessun Dorma is like Whitney's version of the national anthem... I think I've watched this a few hundred times over the years.

    WOW! I never liked Joe's timbre, and I think it's not gonna go away with training, it's just not my cup of tea. But technically he's quite huge already! To take an A# without that kind of training they usualy take... wow! Deserves a huge respect! And i loved the way he said it's not the end of Opera for him. I think he should go for it. Not every person CAN sing opera. He would be able in some short time. I'm watching you, Joe! Wish you success!))

    To all the Rolando Villazon fans commenting on 'Popstar to Opera Star' videos, you do realise that most viewers hadn't even heard of him before he took part on these shows, don't you? Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras he ain't. He isn't even Watson and that's saying something.

      Utter nonsense, Villazon is a world class operatic tenor.

    so...Villazon is advising "pop singers" on how to sing opera. #vocalsuicide#

    Really Villazon is out of his mind; jeah, here is the next Corelli !!!!!!!

    His voice is gorgeous, but he'd need more training and a bit of aging and experience to sing opera. He sounds like a young man, not an exciting young tenor -- but he'll get there, no doubt. A "Yes!" from me.

    Honestly Villazon is out of his mind advising untrained people into opera arias. He knows the voice might be hurt by pushing incorrectly.....

    I am puzzled and horrified that Rolando thinks so much of this terrible singer.Joe Mcelderry is completely awful singing Nessun Dorma and any other Aria. His voice is not supported properly, his Italian is terrible, his vibrato is forced and done by a tense chin shaking up and down. No opera singer with any good training has tension in his jaw or anywhere else. He has no clue how to sing opera and trying to sing something as demanding as this aria will only end up hurting his voice more so than when he sings pop music. I am astounded that everyone from the judges to the audience loved his singing so much. I can sing Nessun Dorma far better than Joe Mcelderry and have done so on my youtube channel. Yet, here I am unknown and working a job I don't like barely making enough to live on...it's wrong that someone with little talent or training is getting so much recognition and money when there are so many who are far better and never get noticed.

      Joe is a great singer. I'm not sure there is or has ever been an operatic tone there but his range, power and emotion cannot be questioned. Unless you're an Olly Murs fan! His Italian is as good as any non-Italian could be and, as any true opera fan would know, not all opera is in Italian. His vibrato is far from forced. It's totally effortless and natural and, unfortunately, something that he was criticised for during and after X Factor for being "musical theatre" and "not pop". The chin shaking is what comes with natural vibrato, as does "wobbly lips". You can't teach it and anyone with natural vibrato would know that. He doesn't need support for his voice because it's natural. You can't have chin shaking and jaw tension at the same time - shaking is a sign of not being tense because tension results in stiffness, so your comment either shows your ignorance of the subject or just your bias (are you an Olly Murs fan?). You'll be pleased to know that this aria was so demanding for Joe that it hurt his voice as much as a hot honey and lemon drink (sorry about that, are you an Olly Murs fan?). You can sing this better? That's some claim. Let us hear it. Next, you'll be saying Olly Murs could sing it better. Or are you Olly Murs? Your last sentence shows your bitterness. I could say lose some weight and get contacts but wouldn't that make me sound nasty, even though I would be only being honest?

    • @Joetenor
      @Joetenor 8 лет назад +1

      Sorry bluebirdinthesky...his vibrato is very forced and unnatural and the chin and lip shaking is evidence of tension and that the vibrato is not natural. I studied voice and know that your statements are just flat wrong. ALL voices need support and the singer needs to understand how to support the voice with correct and deep breathing and using the intercostal muscles (the muscles between the ribs. It is obvious that you know absolutely nothing about proper Opera singing technique with your ridiculous defense of this terrible singer. You are the ignorant one here. I don't even know who Olly Murs is so no I am not a fan. I could hear him hurting his voice and straining trying to sing it. Yes, I can sing this better...not a claim...it's a fact. Just go to my youtube channel and look for my recording of Nessun Dorma. I have no idea why you keep bringing up Olly Murs. Your last statement is not only you trying to be honest...it is flat out rude and shows that you would rather attack my appearance than to keep the comments about the singer you seem to adore. The fact that you think he is so great proves that you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Opera singing. I am not bitter. I just know of other singers besides me who are far better singers than this young pop star. They definitely deserve much more recognition and income because they are not just talented...they developed strong skills that are far beyond anything this young pop singer can ever achieve. Just the facts.

      I've had chronic spinal issues which has made it difficult to get in good shape and can't wear contacts because my eyes are too sensitive...but even when I do lose weight and if I could wear contacts...you'd still be the same rotten person inside...

      Joe Norman, to be fair this was after only six weeks. Rolando did say he could be very good with two or three years of hard work. I'm assuming that this time is the time during which these errors you mention would be corrected. Give the lad some credit, he's not done too badly considering he's a pop star, he's not at all trained (as far as I know) and he's only had six weeks.

      Joe Norman Cheer up! I'm not much of an opera person in general, but I personally think Mcelderry did really good with his "Nessun Dorma" rendition.
